Lighting Their Fires Book Review

Now that it's getting colder out we're spending more time in doors. What I love to do is to read a book! Usually I go for the a good mystery but as you know I love books about kids and helping grow their imagination.

Lighting Their Fires: Raising Extraordinary Children in a Mixed-up, Muddled-up, Shook-up World, doesn't that title just get you motivated. Rafe Esquith first book TEACH Like Your Hair's on Fire introduced us to his amazing Class Room # 56. This time around we take a class field trip to a ball game. Each chapter in the book represents a inning of the game including the pre-game and post-game shows.

Each chapter takes you threw different steps and elements us as children and teachers can improve and help children become Extraordinary people. I loved reading this book it was almost like reading one of my favorite blogs. Esquith has a great way of writing about the people the meet, the way the speak and they act. Doesn't that just sound like a good blog that has a bit of humor that makes you giggle thinking I've been there!

Let us inspire our children and other children to have values and become not only great students but amazing and thoughtful people!

A little excerpt you might enjoy:
I fear something for all the children I have been blessed to know, and it's not drugs or gangs. I fear that my children will be mediocre, that they won't live up to the tremendous promise that each of them possesses. I don't want my children to be mediocre, because I know they are capable of more. So let the polishing begin.
You can pick up your own copy regulary $24.95 on sale right now at Amazon $16.47 on Kindle for $9.99.

  2. I like this. Do you think my adult children would laugh at me if I tried to play these games with them?
