TMTT ~ The Recipe Club Book Review and Sharing something I made :)

For today's TMTT I just had to share a new book I was asked to review. Now this is my favorite type of book, because it
makes you laugh and even better it has recipes in it!!! Know if you haven't figured it out by now I LOVE books but books that give me ideas and make my life easier is the bomb! Yes I went there!

While you're reading along with Lilly and Val who are life long friends. You feel apart of their two person club by reading their letters back and forth between each other. From current days with email to childhood notes with pictures and childhood hopes and dreams.

Escape with these lifelong friends who show why differences make the best pairs! Val a very shy girl who struggles with breaking free of a very strict household and Lilly who is at the other end of the spectrum so dynamic and so badly wants to be excepted and loved by her also distant parents.

I just fell in love with "LillyPad" and Valpal" and was with them threw the ups and downs and disappointments of their world. You'll love how this book is wrote by a series of letters and attached to these letters are several different recipes. Everything from Hors D'Oeuvres, Drinks, Breads, salads and desserts!

Follow along this time line as they choose different paths, the typical friend misunderstanding breaking up and coming back together. Weaved in this story you will find betrayal and yet another shocking secret that could just destroy them for good this time. Or will time and age bring them understanding to work threw it? You're going to have to read it :).

But I will share with two of the recipes I made tonight.

First Off I made was Jacques' Fancy Meatloaf

1–1/2 p ounds ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
3 eggs
3 tablespoons milk
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
Ground black pepper

for the glaze:

3 tablespoons ketchup

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcester shire sauce

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Then lightly grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

2. In a bowl, mix the meatloaf ingredients together until well combined. Press the mix ture evenly into the prepared loaf pan. Bake until cooked through, 45 to 55 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, whisk together the ketchup, mustard, andm Worestershire sauce. Generously brush the top of the baked meatloaf with the glaze. Bake for 5 minutes more. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.


Next was the "Smashing" Smashed Potatoes

2 teaspoons salt, plus additional, if necessary

2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 cup sour cream

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 /4 cup finely chopped chives Black pepper, to taste

1.Fill a medium pot with water; add 1 teaspoon salt and the potatoes. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 20 minutes. Drain.

2. Using a potato masher or fork, break up the potatoes. Add the remaining 1 teaspoon salt, sour cream, butter, chives, and pepper, and mash to the desired consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning, if necessary.

And here is what you have for dinner!

Next on my list is Homemade Moon Pie Cookies and Peanut Butter Blondie Bars!

    The book sounds like a good read too! I'll have to check it out! I read one other book that had recipes like that in it, it was called Eat Cake. I bet you'd like it. :)

    And do tell about the moon pies when you make them! Love me a Moon Pie. :D

  10. I needed that potato recipe, I am in charge of them for Thanksgiving!

    Hubby and I used to have a fav restaurant where they had wasabi mashed potatoes. OMG those were good!
