A Sad Good-Bye

As many of you know we got a puppy last Christmas for the boys.  Cole named him Jake.  He was such a sweet pup and the two of got along great.  I get up around 5:30am and he would hang and sit with me while I worked.  Then I would get Cole up around 7:30am.  In his cage he would go since he was a little hyper still and would knock the boys over.  Poor Caden was so scared of him.  We hoped it would get better but a year later no go and poor Jake spent most of his time in the cage our outside barking and annoying the neighbors … UGH.

I finally had to put him up for sale Sad smile.  I felt bad that he would spend his day in a cage due to Caden home and the tears that Jake was scaring him.  A very nice lady with her daughter (who was visiting from college) came to meet Jake.  Earlier that day Jake had jumped and accidently scratched his face and was having a melt down for HOURS over it hurting … UGH.  He got himself so worked up he got a fever and couldn’t stop crying.  But it was good since Jake was very attached to me for me not to be there when he meet his new mommy.  I was sad to see him go, Cole was a little bit.

I’m sorry Jake I really wish this worked out, but I’m glad we found you a new loving home.

  1. I'm so sorry. I know that must have been such a hard thing to do. It's great that he's in a loving home now though.

  2. I'm sorry that you had to give him up, but it sounds like it was the right thing to do, and I suspect even Jake will end up being quite happy!

  3. You did the right thing. Sadly Jake wasn't fitting in with your family. He will have a new family and hopefully he will bond with them.

  4. Awww Jake kind of looks like my Max. I'm sorry this happened, but you did the right thing. I hope you will be getting great reports on his new home and that he is happy there. It's hard being a mom sometimes isn't it?
    Blessings, Joanne

  7. It is a shame but you had to do what was best for your boys. Maybe if you went to the pound and found an older dog that wasn't as full of energy?

  8. I would rather see this happen than find out someone kept a dog they could not deal with and they stayed outside all the time. Ugh!

I had to make the same decision a few years ago. It was hard, but I found a home for our dog. Aaron had gotten another one, I was still really depressed from Ane, did not feel like going for walk, scared of the dark thing LOL but true and found out a friends mom had lost her's just like ours, so they were thrilled to meet her. But the other end is we do still miss her at times 'Key' at times, but she is in a good home now. God I almost said better place! I hate that saying, and you can guess why!

    hugs

  9. I'm so sorry you had to give him a new home. Sounds like it was the best decision for your family though. Jackson is terrified of dogs, too. There's no way we could ever have one.

  10. So sorry to hear you had to get rid of Jake. Sounds like it was for the best though. I know someone who has two dogs who are constantly caged and I'm sure they're not very happy, so maybe Jake can have a more fulfilling life, even though he was loved by you.

  12. Reading this made me well up. This must have been so difficult for you but you have to do what you have to do. We recently got a new cat from a friend and I was saying to her from the start I will have to see how Youngling and our other cat get along with him before we decide to keep him. So sorry it didn't work out xx

  13. Aww I'm sorry mama. I hope everyone is hanging in there.

We bought a Siberian Husky 5 years ago and had to give him up a little less then a year after having him. We found out we are not a good family for a dog. We'll stick with cats.
