Doctor Time!

So I went to the doctor yesterday morning!  Still trying to get my thyroid back on track.  Lesson learned NEVER let your thyroid meds go out and not take them.  Due to a lack of insurance and lack of no knowledge about clinics you can go to and pay a $50 fee I let it go.  Well 4 months ago I got it back on track, well trying to!  I'm now on my 3rd dose revision, hoping we will get it soon!

Well the gal that I've seen last time was gone so yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting a new doc who spent the whole time looking at his computer instead of talking to me.  The one time he did look at me he gave me the dreaded look up and down and gave me the and you may want to think about loosing some weight.  After I bite back a moment I said politely I have been I'm down 30.2 lbs since the last time I was in (later when I looked at my chart according to their scale I'm down 34lbs).  All I got well ok then from the little man!  He then told me he wants to do more blood work in 2 months to check my thyroid.  Of course he then turns to me to say he of course wants to check my cholesterol and if I have diabetes.  Yes I'm a fluffy girl and immediately his mind goes to I am lazy and not taking care of myself.  I nicely informed him go ahead I have had it done on a regular basis and it's always come out fine but I don't mind :).

Oh yes it was a great visit, I can't wait for Rick to get a full time job so we can have insurance back and I can go back to my doctor.  After that visit I felt like my biggest critic and him got together and said no matter how much she has been doing don't give her credit and beat her down a bit! UGH

Ok off that my poor me box ... LOL.  I know I'm doing well and I will keep up my 3 miles 5 times a week and doing my Wii Zumba 5 times a week when I'm not sick :(.

  1. Some doctors think that they are God. In fact, my cardiologist I call Dr God as he is an overbearing prick.
Keep on doing what you are doing, as you are on the right track and you will continue to be on it.

    HUGS!!!

  2. Happy that you are taking care of this. They should not judge a book by the cover and you know the health kick you are on, he doesn't!!!

  3. One of my biggest pet peeves with health care. Both as a patient and as a therapist. So many doctors forget what it is that made them want to be a doctor in the first place. Sadly, there are no classes in med school for bedside manner. It was a doctor just like the one you saw that made me look into alternatives for my health care and lead me to using a mid-wife vs. a traditional doctor for all 3 babies. I hope you get this all worked out and don't let that *^%#* doctor get in your head. You're doing a great job!!!

  4. Just because he is a doctor does not mean he is a nice person. As my husband always tells me - every class had someone who graduated at the bottom so don't let him get you down.

  5. Oh hon, you are doing great, don't let what he didn't have to say get you down. You know where you are at and you know you are doing everything right and making a change, as mentioned beofre he is a p$^@k and needs to examine his bed side manner which sadly they do not get taught at med school! I know I work with doctors all the time! Keep smiling you are great :)

  6. Hope you get to feeling fully energized soon. Nothing worse than doctors with crappy bedside manners!

  7. UGH!!! some doctors are idiots. You are doing great girl! Don't let the haters get to you. He was probably hiding a big old flabby floppy beer gut under his lab coat!

  8. I have a thryoid problem, too! I have always had the doctors that tell me that I need to lose weight. My current doctor knows better. I have lost 50lbs while he's been my doctor.. the other day I had gone to see him & I had gained 6 lbs. He told me I needed to work on going back in the other direction.. I gave him an eat shit & die look. He very quickly said he shouldn't really say that though because he knows that I know what I'm doing.
Some doctors just don't know when to shut their mouths!!

I hope that your medicine is all straightened out & correct soon! Waiting for mine to be the right level!
