Summer Birthday? No worries we will celebrate a 1/2 Birthday

Caden is a summer birthday and his teacher is so sweet that she has the class celebrate those with summer birthday on or around their 1/2 birthday.  Last week I was consumed with all the valentine stuff I had to wait an extra week to post what we did.  He picked out Mickey Mouse (which mind you kind of surprised me since he is not that into it as much as Lego's and Star Wars but hey we'll go with it).  

First We start out with the Mickey Mouse cupcakes.  I saw several different version of Mickey Mouse but I came across a few pictures like of a oreo version of Mickey Mouse.  So I ran with it, they turned out so cute!

What you Need:

Oreo's (Double Stuffed)

Red Melts (Wilton)

Black Melts (Wilton)

White Gel Frosting

I melted the red melts in Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes (remember I have burnt chocolate in the microwave before WATCH it).  Dip your oreo into the red, half way to make the bottom part of Mickey.  I let mine dry on some wax paper.  I then melted the edge of a black melt to melt it a bit to be like a glue.  Add two black melts to the top of your oreo (opposite side of the red) for the ears.  I then let them dry again on the wax paper.  I then finished it off with the white gel frosting as two little strips like the buttons on the red.

I made Red Velvet cupcakes and topped with a yellow butter cream frosting.  I then added a oreo cookie to the top of the cupcake to finish it off.  I found some cupcake boxes at Michael's on clearance 3 pack for .99 cents!  Score!!  So I put them in a box for each kid.

Weekend Wrap (Kid Clinic & Caden’s 4th Birthday)

Sorry gang I’m still sick as a dog and trying to kick this stupid head cold.  I’ve had to deal with drama all around and I just want to scream I’m sick come back next week … lol.   Another quick post, hoping I feel better soon … Thank you SO MUCH for all the well wishes and prayers they mean a LOT to me!

Saturday was a good day to do fun things (then Sunday I woke up sick and it’s all gone down hill from there).  We hit a Lowe’s Kid Clinic!

We went to my parents house to celebrate Caden’s Birthday.  Lot’s of yummy food and a ice cream cake!

The boys wanted to go swimming and we didn’t have suits so in their undies they went .  Mom got in with them too and yes that is a mommy ducky and her ducklings coming to visit the boys.

Sunday was a day I didn’t move either did the dog, yup he got his surgery to neuter him.  We were a pair this weekend.  Rick took over dinner … lol BBQ but hey I didn’t have to cook.  He worked on the dogs run in the backyard so we can put the pool up.  I also made cupcakes for Caden, most went over to my lovely neighbor that let’s the kids play during the day in her yard.

These are the amazing Banana Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting.  I’m glad to hear they were a hit over there.  And again a Big thank you to Kristen who puts up with the kids, you my friend will be the receiver of many yummies this summer! Big Hugs!

Happy Wednesday everyone I think I’m going to go pass out and hope that when I make up my head is clear or as I said last night on FB I would be happy with a clear nose at this point .

WWW ~ Caden's Party & New Screens

OMGosh so Saturday was one busy day I got up to work at 6am. Then off to pick up last minute items and off to mom and dad's house. Thankfully started the party at 2p so plenty of time to get it set up and we really didn't have a lot to do. The day was hot and the lake was a perfect setting for the party. It turned more into a beach party and it took a little prodding to get me back on track. I know I became one of the parties I hate! Thankfully the lake and swimming kept everyone busy!

Rick took the kids in the paddle boat and on one of the jetskis. People like me sat on the beach part and enjoyed the sun and didn't hop in the lake. And no people I didn't bring a suit because a I don't have one that fits right now and b I'm not much of a swimmer. I have a thing about taking a shower afterwards. Since shower at mom's requires a 30 min suigy of the shower stall I didn't. So people who kept thinking it was because I was not wanting to show of my curvy body in suit that was not the case! I hope this will stop the freaking comments :).

I got home and felt the cold coming on :( and Caden got a little to sunburned. He did get a nap threw the party ... hehe we couldn't even wake him for cake or presents. So no 2nd job for me Saturday night and I missed church on Sunday. I'm still having coughing fits and trying to kick it.

Caden's 1st Birthday Cake is Famous

Just a quick post! I read a wonderful blog Cake Wrecks by Jen and I sent in a picture of Caden's Monkey CCC that turned out horrible. She asked if she could use it on her blog along with Caden's reaction to his cake, he so didn't want anything to do with it =D.
