Thursday DVD Review ~ All Instant Downloads Today

Since this is the wall my TV is usually plugged into
we didn't have a lot of TV time for a few days.
It was an instant download week, since my wall was torn up we had to work with what we could. Most times the power was off so no TV in the front room, in the few times it was on we downloaded what we could. A few hits and a few big time misses but that is like always :). Hope you find one you like.

Star names have led me wrong again, I just can't help myself I just have to watch when I see starts I love. I know know Robin Williams has let me down in the last few movies but how many of the good ones have been so they so outway the bad. Then you add Kevin Spacey, it has to be great right? Nope it was hard to follow on and it was just another movie about people addicted to drugs, etc and no real point. I think deep down there was a moral that could be but it didn't come to me.

In the wake of a personal tragedy, Hollywood's psychiatrist to the stars (Kevin Spacey) devolves into a slovenly pothead and worries he's become incapable of helping his patients in this sharp indie drama that premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Saffron Burrows, Robin Williams, Jack Huston, Griffin Dunne, Gore Vidal, Robert Loggia, Dallas Roberts and Mark Webber co-star as the shrink's diverse brood of showbiz clientele.

I saw this on a preview of another movie I saw and thought it would be a cute movie to check out. It was an ok movie the characters are funny but it was lacking in some parts and kind of slow. I wanted to love it but I just couldn't totally get into it. It's one of those movies you have to give full attention to and that is not in my world.

Desperate for a housekeeper, three crotchety Cape Cod sea captains and housemates decide that one of them must sacrifice his own bachelor bliss and take a mail-order bride, a woman who will cook and clean for all of them. But when the candidate bride (Mariel Hemingway) arrives, her beauty prompts each man to reconsider the virtues of married life. Rip Torn, Bruce Dern and David Carradine co-star in this romantic comedy.

This is one I saw a long time ago but saw it on the instant download and had to watch it again. Of course it has some adult language and moments so this is NOT one for the family. Kevin Kline is one of my favorites and this movie of course makes me cry each time. The overall message and outcome is just heart breaking but also gives you a smile in the end.

Faced with a sobering diagnosis of terminal cancer, George (Kevin Kline) decides to construct a beautiful new house on his land overlooking the Pacific Ocean, while at the same time trying to connect with his estranged son (Hayden Christensen). Kristin Scott Thomas and Mary Steenburgen co-star in this moving dramedy that speaks eloquent volumes about the fragility -- and resilience -- of the human condition.

As you can tell I love true stories and heartfelt stories are the winners in my book :). Dean Cain can always melt my heart too so when I saw his name I had to add it to the instant download list. It's a great story and all you dog lovers will love it! A good one for the family and the kids.

In this lighthearted family fare based on a true story, Dean Cain plays decorated police officer Daniel Harding, whose canine partner -- a heroic German shepherd named Ace -- faces euthanasia after being falsely accused in a mauling incident. When a callous, overeager district attorney wants Ace put down, Daniel springs into action along with his amateur detective daughter, Julia (Britt McKillip), to prove the dog's innocence.

This is one for the boys, it was a cute movie. Of course you know how I love the underdog story :). How can you not love a Zebra how thinks he is a horse. A Cute movie for the kids.

Shattered illusions are hard to repair -- especially for a good-hearted zebra named Stripes (voiced by Frankie Muniz) who's spent his life on a Kentucky farm amidst the sorely mistaken notion that he's a debonair thoroughbred. Once he faces the fact that his stark stripes mark him as different, he decides he'll race anyway. And with help from the young girl (Hayden Panettiere) who raised him, he just might end up in the winner's circle.

Cute movie typical body switch that we've seen several times but of course it has a boy girl high school twist. It is one of those movies you watch just to laugh . Some parts made me do an eye roll but over all it was a fun movie, one I won't watch again but I needed a light hearted movie. Oh and my fav is Sharon Osbourne I just love her and she played the mom in here, you don't see her often but she just makes me smile!

A visit to a natural history museum proves catastrophic for high school rivals Nell (Samaire Armstrong), the overachiever, and Woody (Kevin Zegers), the jock, when an ancient Aztec statue casts a spell that causes them to switch bodies. Now, the pair is forced to experience life from a different perspective and see exactly what it's like to walk in the other's shoes. Sharon Osbourne co-stars in this charming comedy from director Nick Hurran.
