It was a odd week of different shows and DVD's in the house. Hope you enjoy and find one you may like :).
One more from my Hallmark addiction. For you Desperate Housewife lovers you'll love to see Jesse Metcalfe. He was super cute in this movie and you will just love the characters and this small town they are fighting so hard to save from the big bad strip mall. Remembering what the small things that matter and mold us with our values.
Noah McManus is leaving his job with the Boston mayor's office for a dream gig in Washington, D.C. But in a single day, he finds out his new boss in Washington can no longer employ him and that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Devastated, Noah travels to a quaint Cape Cod town and unexpectedly finds himself at home. Stars Jesse Metcalfe and Natalie Lisinska.
This was a very interesting movie. I'm a not one that will give any judgement on religion. I have my beliefs and I know some don't share that. I have some great friends that have the religion in this movie and I can tell you they had nothing to do with marrying anyone else beside the one they have in there life. That being said we know that plural marriage is something this is done and I've been told this book is an amazing read and very sad just like how the movie was. It was a good one to watch.
The film follows "19th Wife" and fundamentalist sect First Church of Latter Day Saints member BeckyLyn (Patricia Wettig), who is accused of killing her husband. Queenie (Chyler Leigh), another wife in the sect, doesn't believe BeckyLyn is capable of such violence and, desperate to prove her innocence, reaches out to BeckyLyn's excommunicated son Jordan (Matt Czuchry) for help in freeing his mother. But when Queenie and Jordan start asking questions about the fateful night of the murder, they quickly see all is not what it seems — putting their own lives at risk.
For my TV show addition I have to share my new favorite show on ABC Family. For you oldest enough like me to remember "Who's the Boss" will love this modern day twist. I've been a huge Melissa Joan Hart fan since Sabrina (yes I still watch the reruns) and Hello Joey remember him on Blossom ... Whooa! :). They make a fun pair that will make you laugh the whole time.
Melissa & Joey, a half-hour comedy with Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence executive producing and starring, finds Hart portraying Mel, the grown-up former wild child of a political family who is now a local politician herself.
When her sister ends up in prison and her brother-in-law flees after a scandal hits, Mel must take responsibility for her teenaged niece, Lennox, and pre-adolescent nephew, Ryder. With Mel spread too thin to manage by herself, help comes in the unlikely form of Joe (Lawrence) who, desperate for a job, moves in and becomes the family’s “manny.”

As you know Dish lost the contract w/ ABC last year so I missed the last part of Season 3. So doing a little catch up. The writing fail a little in this season maybe why it didn't go past season 4. A good show that I miss.
Power plays, backstabbing and family feuds continue at glossy fashion magazineMode in the third season of this incisive comedy starring Emmy winner America Ferrara as hapless worker-bee Betty Suarez. The stalwart Betty tries to maintain sanity in the office, but it's a tough job working alongside dragon lady Wilhelmina (Emmy nominee Vanessa Williams), corporate ladder climber Amanda (Becki Newton) and the acutely dysfunctional Meade clan.
A disney movie that was rated PG-13 I didn't think they did that but they do. Cole enjoyed this one, not sure it would be one we would buy but over all a good one time watch movie. It's Disney so it overall a good clean movie.
Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Prince Dastan, who pairs with spunky Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to keep the Sands of Time -- a mystical dagger that gives its holder control over the flow of time -- from falling into the wrong hands and putting the world in peril. Mike Newell directs this sweeping live-action adventure based on the popular video game series, co-starring Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.
Of course this is my type of movie, it reminded me a lot of the Lifetime and Hallmark movies I love so much. Some parts of course are predictable, but over all you'll love it! You'll laugh and maybe even shed a tear or two. The journey to find one's soul may is an interesting road.
By responding to a letter addressed to Shakespeare's tragic heroine Juliet Capulet, a young American woman (Amanda Seyfried) vacationing in Verona, Italy, sets in motion a series of events that leads her -- and the missive's lovelorn author (Vanessa Redgrave) -- in search of romance. Directed by Gary Winick, this deeply tender and uplifting drama also features Gael García Bernal and Franco Nero.
Another one that would probably be more a Rick movie would like but since he is never home I thought I'd watch it. Yup I should have just passed not my cup of tea. Total guy flick, yup they make fun of us for our movies .. they have them too.
After learning that their handler, Max (Jason Patric), has set them up, a group of disavowed CIA operatives led by Clay -- aka the Colonel (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) -- bands together to bring down their betrayers in this slick action thriller. The film, adapted from the comic book series by Andy Diggle and Jock, co-stars Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Columbus Short and Holt McCallany; Sylvain White directs
Oh how I love Bruce Willis, I think I love him in the macho man role the funny macho man just doesn't work the best for me. It was ok I got some laughs out of it, but over all it was just silly. Tracy Morgan's character re-sights movie dialog even one from die hard which was a funny point. If you're looking for a laugh that doesn't really have a point, you got this movie.
Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis) and off-kilter Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) are two suspended cops trying to track down a stolen and very valuable 1950s baseball card. Along the way, they encounter a Mexican beauty and countless other characters and get entangled with the mob. Kevin Smith (Clerks) directs this comedic action flick co-starring Adam Brody, Jason Lee, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kevin Pollak and Seann William Scott.
I really did try this looked like it would be a great movie, I couldn't even get Cole to sit with me to watch it. It may be excellent for some people but it just wasn't my gig! I don't know why I even try with these type of movies they always seem to miss the mark with me.
If he is to save the life of the beautiful Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos), the valiant Perseus (Sam Worthington) -- born to a god but raised as a man -- must lead a team of intrepid warriors on a quest to battle a host of powerful, beastly enemies. This sweeping fantasy epic, a remake of the 1981 hit, also stars Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Danny Huston as Poseidon and Gemma Arterton as Io.
Of course you have an airplane on the picture Cole just had to watch it! There was a lot of booms and laughs from the front room so it has a crowd pleaser.
In this animated feature, a spirited teenage alien (voiced by Evan Rachel Wood) resolves to keep human invaders (led by Brian Cox) from pulling off a hostile takeover of her peaceful planet, Terra, by kidnapping a human pilot (Luke Wilson) whose aircraft crashed on her turf and nursing him back to health. With the pilot on her side, can she find a solution that will support life on Terra for both aliens and human beings?
As many of you know I grew up with a dad who loved SciFi, and now loves there is a channel for people like him. He bought this DVD series and let me borrow it, but then I found it on the Wii and I was being lazy so I just watched that instead of putting the DVD in :). Paul Blackthorne has always been a favorite since ER and then in Lipstick Jungle. This was a little like the TV Show Angel with a twist of Charmed. Loved it!
Do you have a mystery to solve? If you can afford $500 a day and you won't ask any questions, then Harry Dresden (Paul Blackthorne) can take your case. The sardonic Chicago P.I. is secretly a wizard who uses the dark arts to solve crimes, with the help of his ghostly pal Bob (Terrence Mann). Based on the novels of Jim Butcher, this detective series also stars Valerie Cruz as Lt. Connie Murphy and Conrad Coates as suspicious wizard Morgan.
Found this on the Wii Instand download and if you're looking for a tear jerker movie you got it. It starts out with such promise but by the end you'll be in tears. I think I like it since it reminded me a lot of how life goes. Always remember the good times and cherish them.
Elisabeth Shue follows her Oscar-nominated performance in Leaving Las Vegas with the complex character of Molly McKay, a mentally challenged woman who's devoted to her brother (Aaron Eckhart) in this heartrending tale based on a true story. Molly's innocent world is radically changed when she undergoes medical treatments to boost her IQ, and although the treatments work, the improvements may not last.
Oh I do want to se the 19th wife but I think I will leave Molly off the list for a whioe. No tears please:)

Wow you have been busy. I couldn't get into Melissa & Joey but I do love them and wish them success. I know my daughter wants to see Prince of Persia, she love Jake! He is a doll isn't he? I want to see Letters to Juliet. Cop Out wasn't bad. I am not a fan of Tracy Morgan but I did enjoy him in this movie. I will have to try Molly, I like Elisabeth Shue & Aaron Eckhart. We watched Greenzone last night, it was pretty interesting since our SIL was actually there on those dates.
ReplyDeleteGreat picks that you have going here. I just watch The Last Song. It was amazing. Crying though..
ReplyDeleteI don't need anything to bring on tears, so thanks for the warning!
ReplyDeleteThe 19th Wife reminds me of "For Time & Eternity," a book I read recently. Sounds as though the time frames might be different, though.
I saw "Letters to Juliet" listed in the PPV channels today, but I didn't watch it. I was going to watch "The Good Girl" on Oxygen ... but I couldn't remember the passcode for the parental controls! LOL
