Must Watch Thursday .... Catching up over the weeks

Since the tons of Christmas movies I have a back log of normal DVD's that we watched, so hold on it's a long day :). Hope you find one you may like.

When I saw this show started I wasn't very sure of it so I never spent the time to watch it. Working Saturday nights Fox started playing reruns of it and I happened to catch one and I was sucked in. It's on the Sci-Fi side with a twist of a good cop show. I then of course wanted to kick myself for missing the first shows, thankfully for DVD these days I went on to Netflix and tada to my mail it came, now of course I would have loved it to be on the instant download but I can't be picky. I'm now obsessed with this show! (yes seeing my least fav Dawson Creek actor did turn me off, but I promise he does and amazing job in this show)

Searching for answers after a plane inexplicably lands with all its passengers and crew dead, FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) tracks down eccentric Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), a brilliant but institutionalized scientist, to help her solve the mystery. But she'll need the help of his estranged son, Peter (Joshua Jackson), in order to connect with Bishop, and the three soon team up to explore paranormal phenomena in this sci-fi series.

Horror movies are not really my thing they usually give me the willies ... I know I'm a wimp as Rick says :). But Renee Zellweger is usually great in her movies, I wasn't sure about her being in a scary movie. It was a freaky movie that had some twist and turns that made you jump. At times you want to scream at the screen what are you doing, overall an ok movie. As I say a Good rental.

To save 10-year-old Lillith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland) from her abusive parents, idealistic social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) welcomes the girl into her own home -- only to discover that Lillith isn't quite the innocent victim that she claims to be. As Lillith's mysterious past comes to light, Emily finds herself in a world of danger. Christian Alvart's terrifying thriller also stars Ian McShane and Bradley Cooper.

As many of you know I love Drew Barrymore and Justin Long not one of my favs but since my girl was in this movie I had to rent it. It had some moments in there that were a little over the top. I did laugh at several of the spots in the movie, lets just say if you self tan make sure not to put you hand on your bum it will leave a nice white mark :). Overall it was a good rental, not one I would add to my Drew collection.

New couple Erin (Drew Barrymore) and Garrett (Justin Long) don't want their summer fling to end, but Erin must move across the country to finish school. As the bicoastal lovers try to keep their relationship going, they experience the tricky challenges of living long-distance. Directed by established documentary filmmaker Nanette Burstein (The Kid Stays in the Picture), this romantic comedy also stars Christina Applegate and Ron Livingston.

I've heard such great things about this show and you know how I love Danny DeVito. But even him could not get me into this show I gave it a shot but it was a little too out there for me. I'm really sad I was excited to watch them all.

The laughs continue in the fourth season of this delightfully mean-spirited comedy series. Four friends -- Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) -- run Paddy's, an Irish pub in South Philadelphia. Tackling a host of dicey issues ranging from abortion to mental illness, the series co-stars Danny DeVito as Frank, Charlie's father and the gang's shifty partner in crime.

I got this one for Rick, who usually loves all the movies I think are a little on the stupid side. He actually got up not even half way threw this one and said ok you're right this one sucks. Sorry if you enjoyed this one it was not our cup of tea.

Kevin Carson (Bow Wow), a young man living in the projects, dreams of having his life changed by winning the lottery -- as do all his neighbors -- but when Kevin finally hits it big, he must keep his good luck secret until he can claim the prize. Thrilled to be in possession of the $370 million ticket, Kevin endeavors to keep his scheming and sometimes hostile neighbors at bay in this uproarious comedy co-starring Ice Cube.

Talk about a parents worst nightmare a child missing, your turn your back and they are gone in a second. This true story will tear you up and give you that knot in your stomach as you think of the what if's. The amazing outreach of that town just made my heart grow.

Christal Simpkins (Lori Beth Edgeman) has long wished that her husband, Randy (Dean Cain), were more devoted to his family than to his job. But Randy's workaholism wreaks havoc on everyone when she leaves him in charge of their 2-year-old son, Joe, and the child goes missing. Based on a true story, this inspiring tale charts the coming together of an entire community to bring the baby home safely.

You know how I love a good tear jerker and this will do it to you. I wish I would have read the book, I like to read the book first then watch the movie but I have a feeling I will love the book even more after watching this movie. You will leave with a lump in your throat but well worth the time. I don't think I could buy it just because I can't watch these type of movies more than once.

Ben Sherwood's intriguing novel is the basis of this ghost story about Charlie (Zac Efron), who is devoted to his brother, Sam, even after Sam's death. As the caretaker of the cemetery where Sam is buried, Charlie has lots of time to commune with the dead. Sam visits frequently to hang out with Charlie, but when Charlie meets a mysterious young woman (Amanda Crew), he must decide whether to move forward or remain trapped in the past.

I LOVED Beverly Cleary books when I was young and very excited for a movie that the boys would enjoy. Cole likes Selena Gomez from the Disney channel. The movie was cute and made us laugh several times. I wouldn't buy it, but a good movie :).

When free-spirited grade-schooler Ramona Quimby's (Joey King) wild imagination leads her into another adventure, she plunges in with her trademark energy … and penchant for mishaps, much to the consternation of her parents and big sister Beezus (Selena Gomez). Bridget Moynahan and John Corbett co-star as Mom and Dad Quimby in director Elizabeth Allen's adaptation of the beloved children's books by Beverly Cleary.

You know again I grew up with the SciFi dad so when I saw this I had to watch it :). It was a little slow in a few parts but overall it was a fun fantasy movie.

In this Emmy-nominated miniseries based on the classic story by L. Frank Baum, small-town waitress DG (Zooey Deschanel) is pulled into a surreal world, where she teams up with a trio of misfits, battles an evil sorceress and comes face to face with her destiny. Aided by Cain (Neal McDonough), Glitch (Alan Cumming), Raw and the Mystic Man (Richard Dreyfuss), DG uncovers a link between her past and the Outer Zone's wicked ruler, Azkadellia (Kathleen Robertson).

Joan Rivers has always been one of those love hate guilty pleasures. She has been such a staple in the comedy world and the things she says can blow you away but also just make you laugh! This is the behind the season look of her hustling to get bookings.

Documentarians Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg provide an uncompromising glimpse into the personal and professional life of comedian and red-carpet mainstay Joan Rivers, a woman clinging stubbornly and steadfastly to the pop-culture bandwagon. Stern and Sundberg -- whose previous film, The Devil Came on Horseback, covered the Darfur genocide -- take a no-less-intensive approach to their subject here, taking a hard look at fame's bitter toll.

The boys have never really watch Garfield but I saw it on the new list for the Instant download Wii and thought I'd see if they would like it. Of course they LOVED it and it is great because it 26 episodes to choose from.

Based on the American comic strip "Garfield," this CGI animated television series features everyone's favorite witty and occasionally ornery cat (voiced by Frank Welker) and his dim-witted canine best friend, Odie (Gregg Berger). In Season 1, Garfield is up to his usual lounging, eating as well as playing tricks on Odie. Also a target for Garfield's various observations and barbs is owner Jon Arbuckle (Wallace Wingert).

You know how much we love Scooby-Doo so of course when a new one hits we get VERY excited :). I love when the new ones go to instant download on the Wii, which means we can watch it over and over :). I'm sure this will be one that I will be added to our DVD collection soon.

Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang embark on an international treasure hunt in an attempt to claim the legendary Sword of Fate -- a blade said to possess magical powers. To get to the sword, though, Scooby and Shaggy will have to get past the Black Samurai and his robot ninja army. Not to worry: A sword master has trained the less-than-dynamic duo in the ancient martial art of bushido in this goofy animated feature.

I loved this show and was VERY upset that it was cancelled. I missed a few and was very excited to see it in the instant download for the Netflix Wii. It is a funny and very witty show that sadly didn't get the time it needed on air. You can see 22 episodes on demand or on DVD.

Entertainment moguls, eccentric comedians and corporate politics detonate in this behind-the-scenes dramedy about a popular late-night comedy sketch show, offering a cynical view of neurotic on-air talent and egomaniacal network execs. Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford lead the ensemble cast as creative team Matt Albie and Danny Tripp in this no-nonsense series created by Aaron Sorkin ("The West Wing").

  9. I have to see the Dean Cain movie, it sounds great. We just got Netflix this week, but haven't paid the extra $2 for the actual DVD's but I'm thinking we need to for the better movies. Great list this week!

  11. Goodness girlfriend, you and I have the exact taste (except for the Studio 60 one, never saw that one). I have seen just about every single one you saw, minus the kiddie ones because my kids are "all growed up."
I cannot stand "Always Sunny" but my boys both find it hysterical - I don't get it.
I also LOVE "Fringe" and have it programmed into the DVR so we don't EVER miss an episode. :-)
Somebody should give you free DVD's and/or a subscription to Netflix!!
