The Tooth that caused it all …

IMG_4755

I thought I’d give everyone an update on Caden and the dentist.  As you may know we had to have Caden’s tooth pulled.  We then had a spacer made that day BEFORE the tooth was filled (they cast it).

We then went back the 2 weeks later I was told was crucial that it had to be then.  We show up WAIT 45 minutes to be brought back to be told oh the spacer is not here do to the snow the week before!  So we leave which isn’t helping Caden’s fear of the dentist.  We then get a call the following week the I NEED to bring him back the following day!  I rearrange my day of work yet AGAIN for them.  THEN a few hours before the appointment they call and say they need us to come in EARLY due to oh yes get this “Caden’s Behavior last time”.  HELLO he is 4 and scared you pulled said tooth(pictured above) out of his head.  Was is necessary to say this to his mom no!  So we go early to get in and 4 ladies come in the room which of course scares Caden then they all bend over and start telling him to calm down.  The waterworks begin and then the No’s start.  Then the ladies of course start telling him to calm down etc.  So of course I can’t take any more of this and tell him we have to go.  They tell us to come back again.

So yesterday I let Rick and my dad take him.  Rick said the appointment went better we had been practicing at home with a plastic mirror in his mouth so he was prepared what she was looking in there for.  She said she didn’t want to freak him out anymore then he already is so they didn’t put in the space just going to watch it.  They cleaned and gave him a fluoride treatment and looked and no cavities!  We have to go back in 2 weeks for another fluoride treatment.

We are thankfully are done with this spacer for now, and this last appointment will be the LAST time I go to this clinic.  A friend gave me a referral to an affordable that I can pay cash and when we get dental insurance.  Thank you again for all the love and support!

Tooth was Pulled & Tears were Shed!

IMG_4332

It’s taken me a bit to write this, due to it was such an experience that really rocked this poor mama and little boy.  Last Friday we headed to the dentist, due to loss of insurance I took Caden to a clinic I could pay cash and make payment to.  It is a “kids” clinic, so I figured it was the best place since they deal with just kids.

We got there they took us back a sweet young lady I think doing her residence put Caden in the chair put some cool sunglasses on and the gas mask on him.  Caden kept breathing threw his mouth so of course wasn’t getting the juice.  Then the doc came in tried to cover his mouth so he’d breath threw his nose but not really much luck.  She then put some numbing gel on his tooth, but didn’t wait for it to kick in and went right in with the needle.  That is when the apt went down hill.  The 8 shots sent Caden into a meltdown of screaming that they were hurting him and he wanted me.  At first they kept telling me to sit down they didn’t want me near him.  But I couldn’t take it anymore and went to be with him.  He was trying to crawl out of the chair.  Then she went to try to remove it.  That of course didn’t go over well more screaming and “leave me alones”.  I tried to comfort him.  Then came in assistant #2  who decided that this was the perfect time to come in and say “Ok Caden, this is enough” in her lovely stern voice!  As some of you know we have someone in our life that says this same thing to Caden all the time while Cole can get away with murder … I digress … ugh!

2nd time they had me lay down on his legs while I’m in tears and Caden was in tears they were able to grab the tooth and remove it! My parents picked Cole up and offered for him to stay the night.  Caden and I hit home with the ice cream he was allowed for dinner and I took some Nyquil and early to bed we went.  Cole then decided he wanted to be a turd and didn’t want to go to sleep.  I was knocked out, Rick at work so when they called to bring him home no answers.  They brought him home, poor thing only stays there around 1 or 2 times a year so when it was time to go to bed he of course was not happy and wanted to come home. UGH What a freaking day!  THEN the next day I took boys to Lowe’s kid clinic that I signed up 3 weeks a head of time for.  But of course my gas light came on so I stopped to get gas got to the clinic at 10:18 to find at 10:15 they gave away one of my kits to some SMUCK who didn’t pre-register and just showed up!  YUP that was my weekend.  Head cold finally going away, Caden doing much better now to get over the snow … lol!

We literally are Pulling Teeth :(

Pulling teeth is one of my favorite go to frazes when I call people for work and I’m trying to confirm and gather their information.  But today is a different type of pulling teeth.  2 weeks ago Caden couldn’t sleep and was complaining about his mouth.  Being the Amazing Super Mom that I am just thought he was being the little drama queen he always is.  Then when we didn’t sleep at all one wink I looked in his mouth to find that he back molar was cracked … UGH.

Called a local dentist to see if we could get him in.  When Rick changed jobs we lost our insurance so it was all out of pocket, thankfully this place let’s you make payments!  So we went in for a quick x-ray and a prescription for an antibiotic.  Along with an appointment to come back in two weeks for an extraction. YUP not looking forward to that bill! So today is the day for the extraction.  Caden is very scared and mama is too.  Wish us luck tomorrow!

He was all happy last time, plus got to play brothers DS!

Of Course when dentist came in it was all tears Sad smile.

Happy Friday the 13th Everyone!  Stay away from black cats & walking under ladders.  I think I have had my far share of good and bad luck, I’ll be trying to find me a four leaf clover .. lol.

Home & on the mend!

Blogger Pics9

Thursday AM we got the call Rick could leave the hospital so I got there when they said at 8:30 only to wait a 1/2 hour for the security guard to bring up his wallet.  Then 10 min waiting for nurse to be told he needs some prescriptions filled and it would be at least an 1 1/2 hours … UGH.  Then they had a few that they didn’t have in the hospital so I had to make a quick run to Walmart to fill Rick’s 2 prescriptions that cost $85!!!!  Yes I almost fell over at that cost, I was blessed with a bonus check from my boss a few weeks back and something told me to save it not to go out and make a big purchase so I have a little cushion to help with the missed days and cost of all these meds Rick has needed.

It’s been one heck of a week, and I’m exhausted I haven’t slept well since Sunday and I’ve been bouncing between the hospital, home and running the boys to their events we had scheduled.  Thankfully we’ve had some sunny days so the boys could play outside with the neighbors. I think I’ll have to bake up something fun for my neighbor.

So I sit here in a dirty house, laundry that is piling up once more along with the dishes.  Poor Rick is in bed going crazy wishing he could be up and about but HAPPY to be out of a hospital bed.  I’m hoping this weekend will give me sometime to get the house back in order and maybe if I’m lucky put my feet up!

Thank you again for all the love, support and prayers they mean so much to me!  Much love and I hope to be back up and running and commenting soon.  Sorry I haven’t been around, right now I feel like I entered the crazy half room in the original Charlie and the Chocolate factory.  The only sad thing is I don’t have Gene Wilder to make me laugh and carry me away in a balloon threw a glass ceiling!

Not just a simple Tooth Ache … Happy Anniversary

Tooth AcheThank you so much for all the prayers and wishes about Rick.  His surgery went well yesterday they ended up removing 4 teeth while they were in there.  His simple tooth ache has turned into a nightmare Sad smile.  He ended up a oral surgery that has him now on a ventilator to help him breath.  His throat is so swollen that if they took him off it he would be able to breath comfortable.  He’s been put in a medical coma to help with the pain along with a drain in his neck to help.  I went to visit him last night in the ICU and they have wonderful nurses that only have 2 patients each that they take care of.  He will be in the ICU for another day or two and then in a regular room until probably Friday.

They are going to take him out of the coma state this afternoon so I will take the boys in to see him.  They woke him up the am and they wrote that he wanted to see his boys Smile.  I’ll keep you posted on what happens.  Thank you again for all your support and kind words I so appreciate it.

Rick sleeping peacefully.

Rick in ER

The one where Rick goes to the ER :(

ER

Now I wish I was talking about the show ER (which by the way the last season just came out on DVD – Yes I netflixed it).

So I usually post about a fun food recipe on Monday’s but I’m with a lack of sleep and a heavy heart right now.  Rick has had teeth problems since I met him, I’ve been on him to get it fixed but being a male he figured he could just let it go.  As we all know fear and time only lead to bad things!

So 4th of July weekend Rick had a toothache so I had to do some emergency calling and the doc he saw last time was kind enough to call in a antibiotic for him.  Then last Thursday he woke up throwing up and in severe pain.  So I called the doc to get him in again, but since we don’t have insurance for him they suggested we go to a doc that let’s you do a cash pay on a sliding scale.  So he went in came out with an x-ray of his cracked wisdom tooth, more antibiotics and pain pills.   So no work Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  When I came home Sunday from my friends house I found Rick on the couch and asked me to take him to the ER.  So I called my dad to come stay with the boys.  And God love my parents it always come with a bit of an advice and I told you so.  They just can’t help it.

ER we went at 8pm by 12:15pm they admitted Rick.  By the AM the oral surgeon saw him and the x-ray they took to say he needed to have oral surgery.  Monday @ 3pm he will be going under.  The thing that is worrisome beside him having surgery is his throat is still so swollen and he has lock jaw so he hasn’t ate or really drank anything since Thursday.  So they are concerned about his throat and anesthesia.  They think they may have to put a tube down his nose and worried he may have to go into the ICU afterwards.  YES I’m a little freaked out right now.  So they said he may leave on Wednesday or worse case scenario Friday.  So here we are no insurance for him a huge hospital bill to come and scary surgery.  Oh yes and we’re not sure if his boss will allow him to use his vacation time.

And I thought last week was rough! Sad smile

Happy Halloween! Look it's my Zombie Costume!

Oh wait that's just what I look like today after yesterdays trauma. If you didn't read click here to read about it.

So yesterday afternoon I came back home to finish up a little more got a call from my doctors office that another office could see me. So I ran over to the other office drove around for 15 minutes trying to find a parking spot, I even went up 8 floors of the parking garage to find nada! Back down I went and parked in another doctors office parking lot, thanks! Run in to be comforted by a receptionist that immediately put on a mask. Really I'm not sick! To find that I need to go up 3 floors. Run in there and taken back immediately! They were so nice the LNP that saw me was nice put man she talked a LOT! She numbed the arm and put the implant in. Ok I know my arm was numbed but part of me wanted to RUN when I saw the scalpel. Something about cutting my skin while I'm awake really freaked me out! I'm left with a large bruise and a plastic toothpick in my arm, that freaks me out to touch!

My day at the doctors!
That is the IUD they tried 2 different ones to put in.
Bottom right is not my arm(too skinny) but what they put in me.

I finished up got a quick sandwich, picked up the items from the children's resale shop that gave me a whopping $13 and 2 full bags of stuff they didn't take (I give up with them). Then off to the dentist. I arrived at 2pm I left after 4:30pm!!! Yup my tooth was a pain in the rear to remove! He yanked and yanked, leaving my lip all tore up, a sore jaw and bloody mess in my mouth!

They called in my prescription and I went to pick up the boys, thinking ok plenty of time to come back and get my prescription before my mouth numbed and hurt like heck!!! Picked up both boys and headed back thinking it's been over an hour! I sit in the drive threw mind you no one in front of me for another 15 minutes! Finally she comes over and says she doesn't see my prescription, to hold on the pharmacist is going to listen to the voice-mails! REALLY wouldn't that be something you do a lot, not when someone comes in to pick up? I call the dentist who says they called it in almost a hour and half ago! The girl comes back on (because I pushed the help button) and tell her this and that I have the dentist office on the phone and they are calling right now. I hang up and another 5 minutes the lady comes back on and so nicely (NOT) tells me "YOU DIDN'T NEED TO HAVE THEM CALL AGAIN. I TOLD YOU THE PHARMACIST WAS LISTENING TO THE MESSAGES. AND WE FOUND THE MESSAGE". That will be an hour!

Ok my tooth is hurting so I'm not so nice now, They called in my prescription over an hour ago.

Rude Lady: Well our wait time is usually 1 1/2 hours.
Me: That's good because my prescription was called in around that time.
RL: Well Mama you're just going to have to wait
Me: I'm sorry but why I am having to suffer because you can't check your messages (told you I was in a lot of pain by this time).
RL: Well if you come in you might have better luck!
Me: The reason I choose your pharmacy (which I hate and haven't gone to in over a year, because you suck ... case in point) Is because I have two kids and didn't want to get out of the car.
RL: Not sure what to tell you, you'll have to come in.
Me: Isn't that why you have a drive up??? Fine I'm coming in, but I'm calling your corporate office. (Which I've done before and this is still the way)

So Walgreen's not the best place to go when you're in pain!

I went to McD's and grabbed the boys sandwiches, and yes I took them and the food in with me! Yes I was being white trash like that!!! I stood in line for another 15 minutes about to cry! While a guy behind me grumbled about the wait and yelled at every employee that just happened to walk by! Finally got up there of course it wasn't in the bin, the pharmacist walked over with gave him "the look" and nodded to me! Whatever yes I'm that grumpy crazy woman! Deal with it!!!

Rick got the impression I was frazzled by my tone and oh yeah maybe a little screaming from me. He was scheduled until midnight and made the comment I should have told him so he could have taken the day off. Well let's just say I politely reminded him I did maybe he should listen!!

An hour later his friend came by and picked Cole up for a few hours. Oh thank the Lord, I put Caden to bed and bed for me too! I went to bed at 8pm and thought I would be fine at 4:55am, plenty of time. Well that was great until I tried to get out of bed, must have been thrashing all night long and oh yeah threw my back out! REALLY am I not in enough pain? My boss was very nice let me take a break to try to take a hot shower and then ice my back. I tried to finish up but not having the best morning. I was have the BEST boss ever let me take off a little early to try and get sleep. And that lasted about a 1/2 before the boys started to scream but overall not too bad ... LOL

So here is my Zombie look!
Top two are today bottom right yesterday.
Check out my lip, it's all lovely beat up.
You even get a shot of my face and the arm!
