Party Invites ... Mickey Mouse Head Invites

Caden has decided on Mickey Mouse for his birthday theme.  So on the hunt I went to find a cool Mickey Mouse invite.  I saw MANY ideas of a Mickey Mouse head invite but no one had a step by step how to do.  So I had to take the ideas I saw and kind of ran with it!

Here is what I came up with:

My first step was to buy a Mickey Mouse Cricket cartridge.  NOW I found several you-tube video's on how to make the circles yourself but let's just say I rather buy a kit that does it for me.  I found one on Amazon that had the characters and the Mickey Head I needed and it was super cheap!!  Regular $99 for $29.90 (Cricut 29-0382 Shape Mickey and Friends Cartridge for Cricut Cutting Machines).  Now figuring out how to print the head took me HOURS and an hour on the phone with Cricut Tech Support!  ALL you have to do is press shift + icon and then click on Mickey (the one in the star). EVEN though the girl from Tech support told me this wouldn't work it DID!!  I made the cricut cut go to the largest it could do and printed.  I believe I got 2 heads per half sheet I put in my machine.

What you Need:
Mickey & Friend Cricut Cartridge

Black Card Stock
Red Card Stock
White Card Stock
Ribbon (Red with White Dots)
Yellow Buttons
Glue Gun
Glue Stick
Cricut Machine
Circle Cutter

Instructions:

  1. Cut Black Mickey Heads
  2. Cut Red Circles / I cut of 1/4 of the top to make it a 3/4 circle (I measured the size of the Mickey Head to find out what size circle I needed)
  3. Took hot glue gun to glue on yellow buttons.
  4. Took hot glue gun to glue on ribbon, pinched in middle to make look like a bow.
  5. Glue stick around the outer edge of the black circle to stick the red on top.  REMEMBER you need to put the invite inside so stick close to edge.
  6. Print on white cardstock your invite.
  7. Cut with a circle cutter make sure it is small enough to fit inside your pocket you made.

Easy Peasy and yup I'll have like 30 to make ... lol.

Shark Party is on! First comes the Invite!

As those of you who know me and have followed for sometime know I go a little nutty with my themes!  Hey what can I say I love to have a theme to run with (ok I don't litteraly run I'm still in the walk stage in life but for other things I take it and go with it).  I just love having a fun party that my kids and hopefully the kids that attend will remember.  So early we did the Lego party for Cole, this upcoming week is Caden's 5th birthday.  The theme he picked out is Sharks!  You would think sharks would be easy, but trying to find silicone molds has been on the impossible side.  So I'm probably not able to do the crayons I was wanting to do but I can make some candies, the cake, fun things to snack on and of course I can make invites!

I of course went to my resource Pinterest to see what I could locate. I found a site that had super cute shark invites, her friend designed them so there were no instructions on how to make them.  So I printed a photo and made my own mark up of how to do it.  I took my template I made and using my awesome 3 in 1 printer photo copied it right on to my paper.  That way I could print them and then cut them and then glue everything together until my fingers stuck together!

I took my template and put into a google documents so if any of you want to make it you can go HERE for Head and Bottom and HERE for mouth and print out like I did!

What you Need:

Grey Card Stock (for shark head & body)
Red Card Stock (for mouth)
White Card Stock (Teeth & for the invite that has the info on it)
Blue Card Stock (for the invite that has date, time etc on it)
Scissors / Also the E-Acto zig zag scissors for the teeth marks
Glue Sticks
Google Eyes
Black Sharpie (Inside of mouth and eye brows)

For the shark print the template cut out the bottom half gets teeth and the red attached.  I also wrote inside "Caden's 5th Birthday - Come or be Shark Bait".  Fold the red in half glue on teeth and the top of the shark head.  I'm including a picture below click on it to enlarge and you can see the step by step.  I also made up and insert using word, clip art shark with the info for the party.  If you would like this msg me and I'll email it to you.  When I tried to save in google docs it kept moving everything around.

There you have it we begin the shark domination at my house!

Lego Party–Invite Time

Cole’s has picked Lego to be the theme of his party this year.  So on the hunt for Lego party ideas I went.  THANK God for Pinterest this year it made it so much easier.  I think I pinned at least 50 ideas!  I found a few invite ideas but the one I really liked didn’t let you down the template.  Then I found Allison Waken’s website and she made a FREE template for a Lego tri-fold card.  This card turned out so cute.  I don’t have Photoshop, BUT I do have Picasa so I uploaded the photos she made and was able to add words to the inside of the card.  I then saved the updated photo added it to a word document and then printed!  I found at Michael’s in the wedding section a tri-fold card that was perfect!

What you need:

  • Photoshop or Picasa to add words to your card
  • Tri-Fold Card
  • Scissors to make cuts in the card
  • Ink printer
  • Envelopes if you’re mailing

Head to the link above for the free downloads.
