Making the Most of a Labor Day Weekend
Saturday after I finished up work we headed back to the zoo (this time with shoes that stayed on). We played for a while.
We then watched the shark’s feed which was very fun which we also heard the lady talk and teach us about. We then went to see the rest of the animals and of course feed the budgies as always .
We then headed up to my parents house for a little family get together. Cole was being a turd wanting to go to the water but we had to wait and little Caden took a racket and pretended it was a guitar and sang a little song. Of course Cole’s little attitude made for pleasant convo by some. And yes that is my car in the ditch!! I wasn’t able to park in the drive way so I tried to park on the side then slid into the ditch. Which meant that I had to wait until the guest left to have my dad pull my car out. So that also meant I had to put up with comments about Cole’s attitude … UGH.
Finally we got to the water. I called my friend that I grew up next door to, to see if I could bring her daughter down. So the boys and I crossed across the yards like I did when I was Cole’s age. The kids had fun and I was able to sit and relax a bit (yes with out my iPad to read a book, I’ve been called anti social … lol)
The kids even went on the tube that my dad pulled behind the jetski.
Caden and I played around a bit, plus a nice shot of Mt. Rainier. Then another rock show by Caden and my friends daughter, they were “Rock Stars”.
Sunday we went to church and hung out at home. Monday we headed back up to my parents house for a little swim and my friend’s and her daughter came down to hang out. We had a little adult time to talk and the kids got to play. Plus they collected this nasty grass stuff that is coming up from the bottom of the lake and wrapping around the dock. The boys and dad cleaned up a lot of it.
Caden my no go of water boy hung out on dry land playing in the floaty and of course the rocks . Which he was reminded several times not to throw in the water. You know how hard it is to explain to a 4 year old that the rocks down there were paid for … lol. Cole got brave and jumped off the dock into the water.
So There you have it fun in the sun and even a car in the ditch … lol. I’ve worked all Saturdays for about 5 years now so Sunday is my only day off. So it was nice to have a 2 day weekend again. So what did you do this holiday weekend?

The Weekend we had nothing Planned! ***GASP***
We had no parties planned for this weekend so what is this crazy mom to do? Well of course shove it full of other things!
After I worked I made some lunch and got the kids in the car and headed off to the zoo (got to love being a member).
Now our day started out fine, but oh just wait! I let the kids play and explore a while.
Cole played on the water lilly pads, we said hi to the goats (mom forgot the change to buy the food for the goats, sorry dudes) and hit the other side of the playground.
The boys were hungry so we found a spot on the grass and pulled out the sandwiches I made. If you like these containers (they rock by the way) go to Easy Lunchboxes.com. I did a review/giveaway a while back and I love these containers (yes a quick plug because hello love them). We then hit the touch and feel part of the zoo and did a little drawing.
The baby leopard cubs were out and visiting so it was a special day at the zoo. We first made our own tails, did an obstacle course and even dressed up like zoo keepers!
Then to visit the cubs, try out our tails and head over to feed the budgies.
NOW YOU MAY BE WONDERING WHY THE ZOO PICTURES STOP HERE. We made it next to the Polar Bears .. this is where I became momzilla, the granola MOM’s decided that they were better parents then me and needed to comment. We went into the polar bear exhibit both kids and shoes … YES I SAID SHOES!!! This is the when we were walking out to find me turn around and see Cole with (get this) ONE SHOE!!! At first I calmly ask “What happen to your shoe, go get it”. Thinking it just fell off, after searching and searching AND NO SHOE! Finally I lost my cool and my voice went to the annoying Fran Drescher level and screaming “WHAT HAPPEN TO YOUR SHOE”. Cole finally said well I kicked and the shoe went into the Polar Bear Exhibit!! Yes in the exhibit which means I could NOT get the shoe. This is the point I start dragging both boys behind me (MIND YOU COLE WITH ONE SHOE … Thank GOD he was wearing socks). Watch out PISSY overweight mom dragging kids may get some nasty looks and comments. That is when my grumbling went from under my breath to outwards warning people “REALLY … HOW WOULD YOU ACT IN MY SHOES (OR in Cole’s case in his SHOE)”. Hehe Yes now I can laugh but at that moment no laughing. And YES I broke down and let him wear his NEW SCHOOL shoe to the zoo. SO if you head to the Point Defiance Zoo and see the Polar Bears playing with a White DC shoe just smile and think of me!
Because I need more punishment I decided to take the boys and the our neighbor’s son to my parents house to play. But this time it was good everyone played rather nice and we enjoyed a lovely BBQ time also.
Then Sunday after church they had a baby shower for the youth pastor’s wife. They had a jungle theme so I ran out and whipped up this Jungle themed diaper cake real quick. Thankfully it was kid friendly so the kids came along. They did well that was except when everyone was doing blessings but kids in quiet room for 20 min can be a long time. And no I didn’t make those cupcakes but you bet it I will be making them for Cole’s class this year!
And there you have it a fun some tears (mostly from me) but it was fun and now I can laugh over it .

Weekend of Zoo & the Lake
Another weekend of running around and fun! Saturday I ran out of here after work at 9am to take the kids to the zoo, they were having a shark day (but sadly by the time we got there the one thing was over and the next one didn’t start until 2p). By 1pm Caden was tired grumpy and was yelling “I want to go home”. I took my queue cut the trip then and back to the car and home we went for naps and playtime with neighbor kids.
First we stopped in the play center, checked out all the animals there and tried out some fun toys!
I even sprung for some french fries for the boys. They enjoyed the PB&J sandwiches and flavored water I packed for them. It was nice to fill up before we headed out walking.
We hit up the touch tank and felt the star fish, sea enemies and other fun water creatures.
Then we feed the budgies is always fun heck for $1 each you can’t beat the fun of a bird hoping onto your hand.
Sunday we headed to my parents house to visit. The sun all of a sudden came out so we headed to the waterfront for an impromptu lunch and then some swim time. I of course didn’t bring suits so it was underwear to the rescue …. What they are like tiny winy bathsuits!
This week still is not going off the way I thought it would. I signed Cole up for summer camp thinking I could get back in the groove of gym etc but Monday had break down didn’t go, yesterday I had to take him and then stay for 45 min with the promise I would come back early. Today looks like I’ll be dropping off and picking up again. I may win someday soon! Hope your week is going better then mine .. teehee

Another packed weekend, from concerts to playdates & of course the zoo!
Cole had his last day of school on Thursday so they had a concert Thursday night were all the classes sang all the songs they have sung over the year in church. It was a great performance and thankfully Caden slept threw the whole time! Also had to show off the coats my MIL crochet for the boys.
Friday night we headed up to my parents for dinner. We walked the boys to the park and played Frisbee and of course the toys! We had to check out the new additions down at my parents waterfront, new sod went down. Cole made $5 water it all for my dad .
Saturday I worked (yes that is me in my headset with my curlers … lol. We head right to the zoo thankfully when it opened because it was are only nice days in weeks and it got packed soon! The Zoo is doing a thing on Poo yup! The boys loved it, they had video’s of animals taking a poo, oh yeah it was great … lol. That is the boys putting their heads in the cut out of a man taking a poo.
We visited all the animals and even feed the budgie's, they are friendly birds and will come right up on your hand to eat the stick you of course have to buy for a $1 each.
Then we met up with one of my best friends for a picnic with the islanders group her husbands family is part of. It was great!
Monday was my mom’s birthday so Sunday I took the boys to Lowe’s to pick out flowers for her. They even potted them for her.
Sunday night we had dinner at our cousin’s night again, it was a lot of fun. And Rick took the training wheels off Cole’s bike which we should have done last year but hey he’s my first born .
On a side note my debit card # was stolen over the weekend so when I went to the grocery store spent an hour picking out my groceries and then checked out, around $100 my card was declined. I was mortified I check the account before we left and Rick’s paycheck was in there we were way good. The # on the back of my card of course was disconnected and I couldn’t reach Rick. I wanted to cry so I tried to walk fast out of the store but forgot I had some meat in my cart. So then I had employees screaming at me to stop as I went outside like I was a criminal! UGH so an hour on the phone I found out what happened. But they NEVER called to tell me what was going on, which really pissed me off. Bank of America you really let me down, and embarrassed the hell out of me!
