Thursday DVD Review ~ Bring Back Old School

Some how it was a no mom DVD or Instant TV watching :). Some good kids films and one for Rick. Enjoy, I think I have some mom ones coming this weekend so next week will be better :).

Now I was a little worried if the boys would like this since it's not cartoons and have funny things. BUT they loved it, it had such vivid and beautiful colors and a great documentary on the animals and what and who they are. The boys LOVED it and watched it over and over, this may have to be one I have to buy to that is when Rick gets a job ... lol.

Under the Sea: IMAX

2009G41 minutes

Dive in and explore some of the most captivating and complex underwater ecosystems in the world -- including those found off the South Australia coast, the Indo-Pacific region and New Guinea -- with this visually stunning IMAX documentary. Helmed by Howard Hall, the arresting film brings viewers face to face with many of the planet's most fascinating creatures and examines the impact global climate change has had on the world's oceans.

Ok so I don't know how it happened but I have Jurassic Park 1 and 3 at the house. Yup totally skipped part 2, so Cole has been begging to watch this one. Being the great mom that I am that knows the needs of must have DVD's I picked up this one :). I think I may have to buy it or the may revolt ... lol :). Cole tells me it's SUPER cool mom!

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

1997PG-13129 minutes

Four years after Jurassic Park's genetically bred dinosaurs ran amok, multimillionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) shocks chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) by revealing that Hammond has been breeding more beasties at a secret location. Malcolm, his paleontologist ladylove (Julianne Moore) and a wildlife videographer (Vince Vaughn) join an expedition to document the lethal lizards' natural behavior in this action-packed thriller.

As most of you know the boys are HUGE dino anything fans. When I saw this on the instant download I got all the seasons and Cole almost flipped a lid when he saw it. Cole LOVES the theme song I hear him singing it over and over! Nothing like teenagers that can turn into dinos :). GREAT movie for the kids.

Dino Squad: Season 1

2007TV-Y13 episodes

Five teens on a school trip take a dip in prehistoric slime and suddenly find themselves able to transform into dinosaurs. But with great power comes great responsibility -- and in this case, that means saving the human race from extinction. Led by their telepathic science teacher, the team struggles to stop the evil Victor Veloci -- a velociraptor disguised as a CEO -- from making Earth so hot that only dinos can survive.

This was the boys pick of the week. Scooby-Doo is always a big hit no matter what but we haven't seen this one yet. I usually pick them up at Target they always have the Scooby-Doo DVD's for $10. But this instant download to the TV has saved this mom some money, plus Cole is a wiz at figuring out how to work the Wii remote. Great movie for the kids!

Chill Out, Scooby-Doo!
2007NR73 minutes

Scooby-Doo and Shaggy head to the frigid Himalayas where they meet a brash hunter, a secretive scientist and an inscrutable monk -- all trying to track down the elusive abominable snowman in this direct-to-video animated feature. The duo is soon on the yeti's trail, too, but can they crack the chilling case without the rest of their Mystery Inc. cohorts? Casey Kasem provides Shaggy's distinctive voice.

This is Rick's pick of the week. He has found my love of the instant download to the TV. And his kind wife uploaded his favorite TV show from when he was young. Yup this boy has been up late catching up on shows he's missed. Now this is not my cup of tea for picks but have to throw in his stuff.

Emergency!: Season 6

1976NR5 discs / 24 episodes

The men and women of Station 51 and Rampart Hospital are put to the test in the sixth season of this popular show when Roy (Kevin Tighe) and John (Randolph Mantooth) face a slew of problems at a big football game. Other emergencies this season include two hang gliders hung up on a cliff, a child trapped in a storm drain, a hospital fire, a serious accident on a movie set and a man shot with a nail gun by his wife.

  1. Thanks for the reviews! I remember "Emergency" from my childhood, too, but only because I had a crush on one of the actors. LOL

Do your kids watch "Dinosaur Train"? It didn't come out until my son was beyond the age range for it, but I'll warn you that the theme song will get stuck in your head for DAYS.
