Thursday DVD Review ~ A Very Moving Week

Our pastor has been showing clips of this movie here and there and finally on Sunday we had a movie night at church. This is a great movie even if you're not of the Christian faith you'll truly enjoy it. This movie has some big heart that shows and deals with real things that go on in high school and even a bit of adult life. It is a great reminder to be aware of those around us and going that extra bit to smile, say hi or just reach out can really make a difference in someone else's life. A very powerful movie no matter what your thought on religion I would highly recommend you watch this movie and if you have teens have them watch it.

Ever since Jake Taylor was a kid, he was the type of guy you couldn't help but like. For Jake, life is good. He has a ton of friends, a basketball scholarship, a hot girlfriend and a really bright future. Not much to get down about, right?

Enter Roger Dawson. He was Jake's childhood best friend before Jake's growing popularity pushed him out. Tired of not fitting in and having a place to belong, Roger walks onto campus and, with a gun in his pocket and pain in his heart, makes a tragic move.

Jake is devastated by what Roger has done, and something in him changes. In seeking answers in his own life, one question plagues him the most: Could I have saved him? He finds himself deeply compelled to reach out to kids on the fringe -- kids who aren't viewed as cool enough. But this decision among other things, threatens Jake's world. He may lose his friends, his scholarship and even his reputation by asking "What do I want my life to be about?"

Heather Locklear has always been a fav and if I could only look half like that at her age I would be happy, she was rocking a freaking bikini! And then Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) is also a new favorite of mine! The only complant I have would be the ending it kind of left you hanging. It's a modern day How Stella Got her Groove Back with out the sad death.

Jackie's Hawaiian vacation while her kids are with their father takes an unexpected turn when she meets a 24-year-old surfer and falls hard. Believing her life is beginning its downward slide now that she's 40, Jackie must decide whether to reach for her own brass ring; the prize, after all, is another ride with love.

The reason I haven't reviewed this yet is we've had it, but until Cole had a good day it sat in the plastic wrap. Finally we had a purple key (the best key) day for Cole at School we opened this up. We loved this movie I'm glad I picked it up, it's a good one to watch again. You go Robert Downey Jr. you so have bounced back like no one else!

Wealthy inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) -- aka Iron Man -- resists calls by the American government to hand over his technology. Meanwhile, Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) has constructed his own miniaturized arc reactor, causing all kinds of problems for our superhero. Sam Rockwell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson co-star in director Jon Favreau's sequel based on Marvel comic book characters.

I added this to the DVD queue after watching the twins in the Double Wedding. I've always been a witch movie fan and then you get Disney and I'm a fan. Cute movie one the kids would even enjoy.

Reunited witch twins Camryn and Alex (Tamera and Tia Mowry) adjust to their new life as supernatural beings while at the same time trying to maintain a normal existence in this sequel to the magical Disney Channel original movie Twitches. But they soon find themselves going head to head with the forces of darkness that threaten to destroy their world. Luckily, their birth mother, the powerful Miranda (Kristen Wilson), is on hand to help out.
Yeah the instant download has the older seasons now! I did a review of the Season 5 a while back and then finally 1 - 4 has come! LOVE it. I could never spend that much on a dress, I found a dress that was $800 on sale for $399 and I couldn't have been more excited! You'll laugh and cry and ohh and ahh over the dresses. A few I even thought what the heck that is so not the right dress but it was what they picked!

When only the most exquisite wedding dress will do, brides-to-be head to Manhattan's Kleinfeld Bridal, where cameras from this TLC reality show follow the boutique's staff as they scurry to satisfy their discriminating clientele. It's tough work: Besides facing pressure to make sales, the shop's consultants must navigate brides' high expectations, tight deadlines, opinionated mothers and bridesmaids, and other wedding-inspired mania.

Season 2 you get the full effect of Randy, this guy is one sharp dresser that I would LOVE to go shopping with. You even have a stop by from Stacy from What Not To Wear. Even Kate from John & Kate +8 (pre adultery) picking up a dress for her renewal vows! Again crazy amount for dresses one that even went for $15,000 get this it was over $24,000 to begin with!!! And even better one lady tried to shove a dress in her purse during a blow out sale ... NUTS.

Filled with tears, laughter and joy, this reality series continues following brides-to-be on emotional and sometimes stressful visits to Kleinfeld Bridal, a famed wedding dress salon where the helpful staff tries to make every customer feel special. Season 2 finds new consultant Claudia repeatedly landing in trouble, two brides fighting over the same dress and the salon bracing for its annual blowout sale.

  13. ~ The first movie sounds really interesting, how did Cole like it?
~ I'm not a huge fan of Locklear and always thought it was amusing that she made a movie called Flirting with Forty when she is almost 50. :-)
~ I'm glad Ironman 2 was good, we haven't seen it yet & I'm always afraid of sequels. I'm also glad that Cole had a good day. Give him a big hug for me!
~ I totally LOVE Say Yes to the Dress and agree with you about some of the dresses they pick out. I also can't believe the cost of some of those things, holy cow! Have you seen Say Yes to the Dress, Atlanta... you ain't seen nothin' til you've seen those southern belles picking out their wedding dresses. LOVE.IT!!
