Cupid Time ... Heart within a Heart Cookie
1 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
|
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
|
1.
|
Cream the margarine and add the sugar gradually. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at time, mixing well after each addition.
|
2.
|
Stir in the vanilla. Add the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt gradually to the creamed mixture, stirring in by hand. Cover and chill dough overnight.
|
3.
|
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
|
4.
|
Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick and cut into your favorite shapes. Place cookies onto the prepared baking sheets.
|
5.
|
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 6 to 8 minutes or until cookie has a golden appearance.
|
First I started with the sugar cookie recipe. I made tow batches of the dough. Then First batch I made red with Wilton Icing color. The Second batch I made pink with Wilton Icing Color. I find this is the best way to color anything from fondant to dough.
I took my large Heart Cookie Cutter and cut out the cookies. I then took my smaller heart and cut out the middle of my cookie. I set these aside the small hearts for the next batch, I then just baked a few of small hearts for Caden's class. I then rolled out the 2nd color (if I used red for the big heart then pink for the small heart and vice versa) then put the small heart in the big heart (almost like a puzzle piece) and lightly made the two edges stick together. Bake like normal and rest on a cooling rack or eat right away :).
With my extra dough I made small and large hearts for Caden's Class (his class is much larger then Cole's and I was running out of steam).
Thanks for Stopping by!

Saying Goodbye and a Special Gift
I was able to take the kids and myself over to my grandmother’s house on Sunday. We tried to go Saturday but it was just not a good idea. It was so sad to see a women I’ve come to know and love that is as some say a spitfire. She was feisty full of life and could drink any man under the table. This tumor has taken a toll on her body and she is fading quickly. She still has her sense of humor and quick wit. She had me and my cousin laughing over the silly things she said today. I will have the family go down one more time before we leave on Wednesday. I have a sinking feeling by the time we return from Disney she will not be the same.
The boys did so good, no fussing and no back talking they gave her hugs and didn’t ask many questions. Cole and I had a talk on the drive home about GG going home to God. He has a good understanding of what is happening but I don’t think connect all the dots yet. They sadly have been like me while I was young and not very close to her but I know they love her just like I do.
I had the boys make up a little something for her. I found this on project Pinterest for Valentines day. It turned out so cute and she loved it.
I added in a little saying for her with the trick I used on the canvas we made for my dad.
I painted the boys hands first, now I accidently put the words too high so our hand heart didn’t turn out the best but still cute. I then used both boys feet (the one I modeled it off only used one foot).
I think this is a great gift for anytime of the year hope you try it!

And we wrap up Valentine’s Gifts
I had a doctor’s apt Monday after work but the doctor was running 2 HOURS behind so when I got home I didn’t get as much done as I wanted. I baked Soft Sugar Cookies that I made for Christmas but this time we made hearts. Then I found best frosting and tinted it red. Cole was such a good helper.
And I found this really cute A kiss and a Squeeze on Pinterest. So easy I had the squeeze for Cole’s lunch already made a quick sticker and printed it and stuck it on. I picked up a few hersey kisses from the bulk section and then done!
Sadly play dough hearts didn’t get done and my woman’s group was cancelled so I didn’t make the Jell-O hearts. I may make them next week just for the heck of it! Cole finished up his valentine cards and think he’s actually was nicer then mine! Yesterdays post showed you how to do those in case you want to make them

Homemade Valentine’s Done!
As many of you know I’m Pinterest! I plan our meals and now valentine’s card’s for Cole’s school. I found this idea to give a sucker with a picture of your kid holding out their hand. I know brilliant idea!
First off I took a picture of Cole with his fist out! Also put him in a red top for the season (it’s his FAVORITE color so no complaints).
I think went onto Picnik to edit the picture! The sad thing is this site will be closing 4/19 , currently it is free use it while you can. I added a heart on his shirt with his name. A talk bubble and a Happy Valentine’s Day words on the side. I wish I would have stepped back a little more to get his hand with a little more remove from the edge. Overall an easy thing to do and fun for the kids to pass out!
Here is where you take a knife or one pinner said she took scissors to cut a whole at the top of the hand and the bottom of the hand you then put the blow pop threw the holes.
Here is what they look like all finished up! They really did turn out pretty cool!
Tonight I will finish up the play dough hearts for his class tonight along with the cookies.
Are you making any Valentines Treats?

Getting my craft on for V-Day
Most of you know I’m a little nutty and LOVE to make things for Cole’s classmates. I’m also a crazy planner that actually thinks about these events for months in advance. Pinterest has become my new helper to keep my thoughts straight and what I want to do. Then it’s time to weed down and to what I’m going to make. Cole get’s to help me make the items which he loves plus his classmates love it and feel special. I’m thinking I’ll make a treat and then something for each kid to take home. Here a few things I’ve pinned that I thought were cool and what I think I’m going to make. I’m going to be hitting up Michael’s this weekend and hoping to to get everything done by Sunday since I have my women’s group at church Monday nights.
If you want to see how to do any of these click on HERE and it will take you to my board called “Hearts & Love Things to do”
If I was really cool I’d do boy and girl cards
this one for the girls:
This one for the boys
Or this one for the boys!
Or this for both boy & Girl
Isn’t that just to freaking cute!
For those who don’t like V-Day
But I think I settled on:
Making whoopie pies either heart shaped if I find the pan or normal
Homemade Chalk for each kid
(Depending on how cost to make)
if making chalk is to spending I’m making Play dough Hearts
And between these two cards:
You rock Valentine
Or if I can get it to come out right I want to do this:
I’m thinking for my Woman’s group I’ll bring this:
I’m loving this card, I think I’ll make them for Grandparents
From the bottom of my heart (two hands)
to the tips of my toes (one foot)
I love you! 2nd gift for Grandparents
Do you have any plans to make treats? Rick and I don’t really do anything so it’s kind of fun for me to do something for others! What do you think?
