On to our next items made for our famous Mickey Mouse Party (yes it's always fab and famous in my head go with it!). I wanted to make some hats and food labels but NOT break the party budget doing so. So instead of buying them I made them using items I had at home and hitting up the Dollar Tree. If you don't know by know I have stock and I mean piles of card stock paper at the house in all colors! I always hit Michael's when they have a sale or use a 40% coupon to store it because I seem to use it a lot.
Here is what I made:
I wanted to make party hats but I refuse to buy the expensive ones that I knew most would end up in the garbage at the party or as soon as the people got home. If you are looking for a great tutorial check out Megan Kunkel's Mickey Mouse Party Hat Tutorial. I decided to take hats I bought at the dollar tree and add ears to them! YUP I'm cheap and crafty like that!
Mickey Mouse Hats
What you need:
- Party Hats (I used Gold (closet thing to Yellow) and Red)
- (Bought 2 packs $1 each pulled out the colors I wanted.)
- Ears (Cut on my Circuit)
- Heavy Red Card Stock
- Heavy Black Card Stock
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
I cut a small hole in the sides (one on each side trying to make sure at the same height) of the party hats. I cut a set of Mickey Ears on my Circuit using my Mickey Mouse and Friends Cartridge (only doing the ears not the full head). I also cheated and used the ones that had been cut off of our count down to the party (yup I'm all about the reuse). I then slide the bottom part of the ears into the slit I made. I then took my hot glue gun and glued that little piece of paper down on the inside. I did a step by step in photos below.
Mickey Mouse Food Labels
What you need:
- Heavy White Card Stock Paper
- Heavy Red Card Stock Paper
- Heavy Black Card Stock Paper
- Paper Cutter (I used my cutter from Creative Memories)
- Printer / Word
Last on my list was Food Labels, I found a few free ones I could download but most I found were pay for ones. So I downloaded a Mickey Mouse font on font space and typed up my food names I wanted into a word document (I tried to be cute and funny and play on words). I printed on a heavy white card stock. I then cut them out trying to keep them the same size. I then made a tent out of red heavy card stock. I hot glued the white down onto the front of my red tent. I then went back to my Mickey Mouse and Friends Cartridge on the Circuit and cut out mini Mickey Mouse heads. I then added a little glue to the back of the head and glued it onto the top corner of my red tent!
I'll show the food more in detail on a different post
but here is how it looked with the labels.
So there you have it a few more things to try out for your Mickey Mouse Party.
