An icy front is coming in!
Sometimes I don’t think men think before they speak. Ok a little background I work from home and do have a part time job I work 1 night a week then of course take care of the kids etc. Rick works a full time job and 2 part time jobs that alter days during the week and then he goes up to my parents house to works. So ok we get it he works a LOT so that means he is not home a lot.
So between work, working out and taking the boys here and there my house cleaning has been a bit lacking. Now don’t get me wrong the house is not filthy just maybe not dusted or vacuumed on a daily basis (ok who am I kidding weekly).
So this is the part where I think Rick brain and mouth were not connected the other day. He get’s into these cleaning modes which would be great to some but he gets pissy when he cleans. See he is under the assumption that once you clean the carpet or the house it is to stay that way! HELLO we have kids and he added a dog into the mix so yup it’s never going to stay clean. He words to me that had his foot in his mouth is “How come this house is never clean? You don’t do anything around here unless it’s connected to a computer”. Oh yes that was the last straw … so we’re on a icy freeze here!
Anyone else think the silent treatment is the way to go? Do you also want your spouse to switch spots to you? Just one day in my life maybe he would get it! hehe Yes I know wishful thinking!
Daily in the life a busy mom:
- 5:30a (or 6am if I sleep in) – Start Work
- 7:30a – Clock off to get Cole up, make breakfast, pack lunch, get Rick up, do the dishes, throw a load in the washer … Get them all out the door
- 8:30a – Clock back on
- 3:00p – Clock off pick up Cole at School
- 3:20p – Clock back on finish calls
- 3:40p – Get dinner ready put in oven on Delay Mode to start while we’re at the gym & be ready when we walk in door. Throw a load in the dryer, throw dry load on the bed to fold sometime.
- 4:00p – Head to Gym
- 6:00p – Dinner Friends come over (Tues)
- 7:00p – Swimming Classes (Mon, Wed), Homework, Bath, Dishes, Laundry
- 8:00pm – Maybe Sit down then to bed.
Yup so the house may not be spotless but I’m doing the best I can. Until I hit the pay load and can hire someone to help me this is what it is. And as I pointed out to him YES he works a lot but how hard is it to fold the laundry, heck I’d put it away just help me fold it! A girl can dream! So we’ll see if Rick can remove that foot from his mouth or if the ground hog will not see his shadow and go back for an icy front .

A Birthday Party day before Easter am I crazy??
I didn’t think about it when I scheduled Cole’s 7th Birthday party that it would be the day before Easter (ugh). So it was a little crazy for me planning the party and making sure it all went off with out a hitch. Ok who am I kidding … just a party with out a melt down. hehe
The party was a HUGE success, I believe we had 23 kids show (that includes siblings). At first I didn’t have enough adults in pool (had to have an adult for every 3 kids under 7. So we had one grumpy lifeguard at first. But then we had enough adults and the hour & half flew by.
Then my AMAZING friends helped me turn a empty room into party central in 15 minutes!! They are freaking awesome, I don’t know what I would do with out them. Pizza arrived and the kids eat 6 pizza’s in no time FLAT and all cupcakes gone . Cole was a little shy while everyone sang to him then great gifts. That last pic is of the mess my house was left after the boys opened up every gift.
Then a little egg dying .
The boys had a great egg hunt at church. We then had a brunch with my parents. The boys were so excited to do a egg hunt at their house, but their furnace crapped out so they had to go get a new one. Of course when I got home it poured rain so I did one inside .
For the yummy cakes I made a blue velvet cupcake mix.
Then in the ice cone’s (with a little white cake mix to look like waves). Then we went up to my moms to frost them and make the pool themed cupcakes! They were so cute and a HUGE hit with the kids .

Turkey Burger & Meatballs (Skinny Style)
On our adventure to eat healthier and better meals I am still on the search to find new meals that we haven’t tried so far. Ground Turkey has become a new staple in my life and the boys don’t even mind it, yeah!! I hope you enjoy .
I saw this recipe and just had to try it out! I made these for company and they loved them even my friends little one who usually only eats a bite or two ate his whole burger. The white beans made the turkey stretch, I had so many Turkey & White Bean Burgers left over.
Turkey & White Bean Burgers

Looking for a yummy burger that will fill you up but not give you a belly. I made ciabatta bread for the bun :).

Now this I made my own Ciabatta Bread for the bun, I used Whole Wheat Flour and only did small portions for everyone.

Yummy bread to add something great to any sandwich

And of course to throw in just one more yummy turkey recipe is this super easy and delish Skinny Italian Spinach Meatballs. I served them over whole wheat pasta and the boys loved them, Cole went back for seconds! Even Rick (the one who is always saying can’t you just make something normal) turned to me and said “These aren’t that bad”. YUP that is a HIGH compliment from him .

Manic Monday ~ Dinner, Snack & Something Sweet
As you may have noticed lately I’ve been cutting down on calories and fat in all meals. I’ve found some amazing sites that have helped and things that have been hits with the boys too!
First off was a great snack that was so yummy! Super Healthy Kids Blog posted this great way to get kids to eat their veggies and love it .
Stuffed Zucchini Pizza Boats

These were so yummy and you didn’t need any meat to make them filling!

My boys LOVE chicken strips and instead of giving them ones that are fried and full of grease I’m finding new ones that the boys love. This recipe I actually saw being made on THE TALK by Rocco DiSpirito. This Chicken Amandine was great!

And for something yummy and fruity! Well you have to try this recipe, it was originally a Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins recipe but since I used the ONE and only tin I had for the recipe above so this became bread instead .

More Easter Treats to make (Yes I’m still in Birthday Melt Down Mode)
I made a few more treats for my bosses and their kids .
I found this recipe on the Rice Krispie site. Mine aren’t as cute as them, but I still love mine.
