Minion Cupcakes (Modeling Chocolate Toppers) for Birthday Dreams Charity

Here's another post I'm behind on posting. These cupcakes I made a few months back. I signed up for for a Minion themed party for Birthday Dreams (bringing birthday's to homeless kids). I did a little searching on Google and found some minion faces and I went to decorating. Some modeling chocolate and bam cupcake toppers!

What you Need:
Modeling Chocolate in yellow, purple and black (See Recipe at the bottom)
Circle Cookie Cuter
Square Cookie Cuter (formed into straps for eyes)
Candy Eyes
Black Food Marker
Frosted Cupcakes

I had modeling chocolate in several different colors made up before from previous projects. I took yellow and purple and cut out circles. For the faces I cut out black for the straps of the eyes. I added candy eyes to the faces, for the circles around the eyes I added circles around they eyes. For the yellow faces I took some silver dust and went around the eyes. Purple I left purple around the eyes. I took the black food marker to draw on hair and mouths. I then put the toppers on top of frosted cupcakes.

Modeling Chocolate
12oz Candy Melts
1/4 Cup light corn Syrup

Melt your Candy Melts in microwave (mine takes about 2 minutes). Stir them to become smooth and add the corn syrup.  It will become thick and form a ball.  Wrap in plastic wrap and let it sit out and dry.  Takes a few hours or over night is best. (Alexis note: I found to roll this out use a little powder sugar (like you would do with flour), also you have to kneed it a little like you would dough to make it easy to roll out).

Football Cupcakes (Modeling Chocolate toppers - Steelers theme)

Here's another post I'm behind on posting. These cupcakes I made a few months back. I signed up for for a Steelers themed party for Birthday Dreams (bringing birthday's to homeless kids). I did a little searching on Google and found the Steelers logo. Some modeling chocolate and bam cupcake toppers!

What you Need:
Modeling Chocolate in yellow, green, red, white, brown and blue (See Recipe at the bottom)
Circle Cookie Cuter
Square Cookie Cuter (or if you have the star cutter - molded into stars)
Number Mold
Frosted Cupcakes
I had modeling chocolate in several different colors made up before from previous projects. I took yellow, red and blue and cut out squares then molded into stars. I placed the stars on a white round I cut out. For footballs I took a oval cutter and cut out brown football. I took white to make the details. I placed on top of a green circle. I took white and made a 30 and line for the 30 yard mark. Place on top of a green circl. I then put the toppers on top of frosted cupcakes.

Birthday Dreams ... Lego Cupcakes

I'm behind posting some cakes a few months back. I signed up for for a Lego themed party for Birthday Dreams (bringing birthday's to homeless kids). I had a lego man and brick models left over from Cole's party several years back. Some modeling chocolate and silicone molds and bam cupcake toppers!

What you Need:
Modeling Chocolate in yellow, orange, green, red, white, purple and blue (See Recipe at the bottom)
Lego Man Silicone Mold
Lego brick Silicone Mold
Frosted Cupcakes
I had modeling chocolate in several different colors made up before from previous projects. I took yellow and filled the head part of the mold. I then took blue and filled in the pant part of the mold. I then took different colors to make the shirts. I took a few different colors and made bricks in the silicone mold. I was in a hurry this time so I popped the molds into the freezer to firm them up quickly. I then popped them out, the best part of a silicone mold is it's flexible. I then put the toppers on top of frosted cupcakes.

Monster Cupcake Toppers (Birthday Dreams)

I signed up for another Birthday Dreams (bringing birthday's to homeless kids). This little 6 y/o who was living in a shelter wanted a Monster themed party. I have done a few Monster High parties for the charity but not a Monster theme yet. I was excited to find a new design to make. I did a Goggle Picture search for Monster cupcakes and came across A Sweet Life design for Monsters. I took her design and created my monsters using modeling chocolate.
What you need:
Modeling Chocolate (Colors of Monsters - recipe below)
Candy Eyes (Large and Small)
Circle cutter
Triangle cutter (or use a star like I did and cut out just the tip of star)

I started with 4 colors for monsters but my 4th color was an epic fail and wouldn't roll out, so I went with 3 colors. I cut out circles for the monster head. I rolled out the mouths (almost like a snake). For ears I just played around and made horn shapes. For the teeth I used a star cutter and used the tip only to make triangles. Some had 2 large eyes or 2 small eyes or 3 small eyes. Have fun with them.

Modeling Chocolate / Clay
12oz Candy Melts (Whatever color you want your monsters to be)
1/4 Cup light corn Syrup

Melt your Candy Melts in microwave (mine takes about 2 minutes). Stir them to become smooth and add the corn syrup.  It will become thick and form a ball.  Wrap in plastic wrap and let it sit out and dry.  Takes a few hours or over night is best. Have a GREAT Week!

Sesame Street Cupcake (Modeling Chocolate)

As many of you know I donate my decorating skills to make cupcakes for a charity that brings birthday to homeless kids (living in shelters and temporary housing). Birthday Dreams is an amazing charity if you looking for a place to help out, 90% of donations going right back into the business. I recently signed up for a cake for a Sesame Street party. I searched the internet and found a design made on Etsy by Taleen Shop. I took her design and made my own. I must say this is my 2nd favorite cupcake I've done so far (Angry Bird's were my favorite so far, hard to top those).

Modeling Chocolate / Modeling Clay recipe on the bottom if you've never made.

What you need:
Modeling Clay (Red, Dark Blue, Green, Yellow, Black, Red, Orange, Purple and Light Blue)
Large Scallop Circle Cutter
Small Circle Cutter
Medium Circle Cutter
Small triangle Cutter
Candy Eyes
Brown Candy Melt (for Cookie Monster Cookie)
Brown Candy writer (for chip on Cookie Monster Cookie)
Frosted Cupcakes
Cupcake Box (I bought mine on Amazon)

Big Bird

Cut out your head in yellow ( I made 6 since I had 4 characters and needed 24 cupcakes). I used my scallop circle cutter. For the nose you take orange modeling chocolate and make a triangle (I couldn't find my cutter so I formed by hand). I added candy eyes (Large from Hobby Lobby), attached with water to the yellow modeling chocolate. For the eye lids I made a circle and cut in half for purple and then blue, make sure your purple is a little larger then the blue). Attach to a frosted cupcake.

Cookie Monster

Cut out the blue with your scallop circle cutter (again made 6). Add large candy eye's with water, for Cookie Monster his eyes are always crazy so put one up and one down. Medium circle for the black, cut in half for the mouth. I then took a light brown candy melt, took my melon baller to make the teeth marks. I then took a candy writer and made the chocolate chips. I took a little water and added to the moth along with a few of the crumbs.

Elmo

Take your scallop cookie cutter to the red modeling chocolate (made 6). Add large candy eyes, attaching with a little water. For the nose I took a little orange modeling chocolate and rolled into a ball. Medium circle for the black, cut in half for the mouth.

Oscar The Grouch

Take your scallop cookie cutter to the green modeling chocolate (made 6). Add large candy eyes, attaching with a little water. For eye brows take a strip of black cut in half and place on top of the candy eye's. Medium circle for the black, cut in half for the mouth. Add a tongue by taking small circle cutter and cut in half, attach with water.

Thanks for Stopping by!

Cakes for Charity ... My Little Pony Cake (Rarity)

Next on my list for cakes to make for Birthday Dreams was a My Little Pony Cake.  I went on the search for a perfect but easy cake idea.  Well I found tons of cakes but no easy step by step.  So I did my own thing!  I wanted to do Rarity which is the White Unicorn with purple hair.

I started with my Moist White Cake that I tinted one pink and one purple.  I found a My little pony coloring page that I used as my template.  I cut it down to the size I needed, check out my Google Drive HERE to print it out.

While I let my cakes had cool. I made up a batch of my favorite Sturdy Buttercream frosting. When the cake was cooled, I took my template and cut out the Pony's.  I placed a tablespoon or so of frosting onto the cake board and put my first pony cake out.  Place some frosting on top and then topped with my 2nd pony cake.  I then crumb coated with a light frosting layer.

I put my cake in the fridge to firm up (we've been having unusual HOT weather here).  I made up a batch of my favorite Rolled Buttercream Fondant.  I took about a 1/4 of the fondant and tinted it Purple using AmeriColor Regal Purple food coloring.  I took a about 1/8 of a cup and made the eye.  I used a petal leaf cutter I bought at Hobby Lobby to make the eye shape.  I used the large in white fondant, medium in blue fondant and the small to cut black fondant (see pictures below).

For the hair I rolled out my purple fondant using a circle cutter and my hand placed it on the head. NOW the template I used had two ears!  The pony I was doing had a horn!  So I moved my ear to the center to be a horn and place the purple hair around it.

Not one of my prettiest cakes but I sure hope that the little girl enjoyed it.  I took this cake to a domestic violence house so I had to be buzzed in and drop the cake off at the front and never got a chance to meet the little girl.

I used my square cookie cutter to cut out three in the blue shade (using AmeriColor Royal Blue Food Gel).  I added a mouth and a little black fondant to the ear (black was created by using AmeriColor Super Black Food Gel).

I covered my cake in white fondant, cut off the extra and then added the touches (see photos below).

All packed u and ready to go!
I pick up these cake boxes at Hobby Lobby.

You don't have to bake to help Birthday Dreams, please check them out.
