Wonder Woman Cookies / Heart Shape Made

A friend in my dance class asked me to make some super hero cookies. I showed you the Super Girl and the Super Hero Word Bubbles made. The last cookie made for the party was a Wonder Woman Cookie. I wanted to do some fun different and found an option of making it using a Heart! I know brilliant, I can't give credit to who created this because the link I found was just a photo uploaded to pinterest HERE. If this is yours please let me know so I can give credit.

I didn't want to buy a bubble cookie cutter, so I looked in my bin (ok 2 bins of cookie cutters). I had a sun I used last summer, I squished it down a bit and bam!

What you Need:
1 Heart Cookie Cutter
Royal Icing - Red, Blue and Gold (recipe below)
Pipping Bag

Since this required making the heart in two colors I had to pipe the whole cooking, instead of doing the dipping method like I used on the other cookies. The top half I piped on red and let it dry. I then took a pipping bag with blue and decorated the bottom half of the heart. I took a pipping bag with a star tip and made hearts on the blue AFTER it had dried. I took a pipping bag of gold to decorate the seam between the red and blue.

Royal Icing what you need:
2 lbs Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
5 Large Egg Whites (or equivalent)
Flavor to Taste
Gel Icing Color

Mix powder sugar and cream of tartar in your mixer, just to make sure it is incorporated in. Slowly add egg whites, then whip start of slow then go to very high speed. She says around 2 minutes, my friend had an older mixer so it took almost 10 minutes. You want stiff peaks that hold on and won't fall off the spoon. Add in your flavor, I would suggest you use a clear flavoring.  This would be the glue texture great for ginger bread houses etc.

Take 1 cup of royal icing in a smaller bowl then add your coloring, lightly mix so you don't get air into the the icing. I'm like her and like the gel coloring.

For Top Coating - Add 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 tsp Water (This is if you don't want to outline and flood)
For Outlining - Add 1/2 to 3/4 tsp Water
For Flooding  - Add 2 to 3 tsp Water

WATCH her video on How to Top-Coat, Outline, and Flood Cookies. YES it is around 7 minutes BUT if you have never done this technique it's a MUST she explains it perfectly.

Super Girl Royal Icing Cookies Made

A friend in my dance class asked me to make some super hero cookies. As I said yesterday I learned my lesson to always ask if it's a girl or a boy ... don't assume. Thankfully the Superman and Supergirl logo are the same so it was easy to make into a girl theme. I did some googling and found an easy way to make the logo! This way you don't have to buy another cookie cutter (to my husband's happy plea I used what I have already).

I didn't want to buy a bubble cookie cutter, so I looked in my bin (ok 2 bins of cookie cutters). I had a sun I used last summer, I squished it down a bit and bam!

What you Need:
1 Superman cookie cutter (OR a square cutter)
Royal Icing - Yellow and Red (recipe below)
Pipping Bag

I used the dipping method with my royal icing. I started to do the dipping method about 6 months ago to speed up my decorating time. You can pipe each cookie which is a little cleaner but I find the dipping method to be the best. You get your royal icing to the outline consistency and put into a pie dish (I find this is not too deep). AFTER the cookies dry you add the details. I used a piping bag to outline the logo and then add a S on it. I started with a thin S but didn't like the look of it so I added a bit more to beef it up.

Super Hero Cookies Made (Royal Icing)

A friend in my dance class asked me to make some super hero cookies. Lesson learned always ask if it's a girl or a boy ... don't assume. I of course came back the next day with ideas for all boy super hero's. I went back home and found girl themes and we were ready to go! I grew up on the old school Batman (Adam West) were the word bubbles would appear in the fight scene's. I thought it would be fun to do that in cookies. I Googled Super Hero Words and these cookies were born!

I didn't want to buy a bubble cookie cutter, so I looked in my bin (ok 2 bins of cookie cutters). I had a sun I used last summer, I squished it down a bit and bam!

What you Need:
1 word bubble Cookie Cutter (or make do with what you have)
Royal Icing - Pink and Red

I piped the different words onto the cookies.

Super Hero Box Gift

A few months back I saw the coolest gift for a Super Hero Box on Alpha Mom now it was for a father's day gift but I knew it would be perfect for a gift for a boys birthday. I had the chance to build the box this weekend for our neighbor boy. This is a perfect gift for a dad but I made it for a boy and it worked perfect, I added some toys and a movie to make it kid friendly.

What you Need:
Soda (Root Beer or Fav drink)
Jerky
Mints
Nuts / Trail Mix
Large Candy Bar
Candy (I used Skittles)
Chips
Box (Wood or Photo like I used)
Label Sheet
Cellophane Bags (Craft Store / Dollar Tree 25pk $1)
ALEXIS ADD ON'S FOR KID GIFT
Super Hero DVD (Target $5 Bin)
Super Hero Themed Blow ups (Dollar Bin or Dollar Tree)

Step 1. We used Orange Soda, Jerky, a King-Sized candy bar, and various munchies that we transferred to baggies.
Step 2. Using our Downloadable Templates (on her website click link above to take you to page w/ templates), print the labels onto adhesive label paper or print it out on regular paper and use Elmer’s Spray Mount.
Step 3. Cut out the label shapes.
Step 4. Transfer the some of the treats to the Cellophane bags, and some I just left in their bags due to time constraints. Adhere labels to each item.
Step 5. Tuck them all in the wood box (I used a photo box I picked up at Hobby Lobby), put on the address label.

Super Hero Valentines

For Caden being in 2nd Grade I could still do something fun for him and not have to be more grown up like Cole's. I found these fun Super Hero Valentines on The Dairy of Dave's Wife.  Now she is awesome sewed them and all, I'm usually running around like my head is cut off so I went with the glue method.  Her's also looked a lot cleaner but when you have to make 30 of them your's tend not to be as clean .. lol.

What You Need:

Felt (I bought a package at Dollar Tree)
Craft Glue or Sewing Machine
Elastic Band
Card Stock

Print out the free template she has for the mask. I printed and then took a sharpie to outline on the felt. The felt I bought at the Dollar Tree was thinner then the kind I've bought before at the craft store. But I also knew that most of the kids would not keep them so I didn't want to spend a ton of money. If I was doing a super hero party I would use the thick felt.

Once I had the out line on the felt I cut out the felt mask. The Dollar Tree sheet allowed me to fold over and make 2 shapes per sheet which would make one mask. I glued the felt together with craft glue. I added the strap by tying it on to two holes I made using my hole punch. She sewed her's into the side of the mask.  She also made a free printable that could hang on to the mask as the valentine card!

The cutting is the longest part of this job!

Any Valentine gift Ideas you have planned?

Super Hero's & Popcorn ... What More Could you Want?

Well I finished two more of more Valentine Day projects!  3 more to go but let's just hope I finish those tomorrow.  Today I show off Caden's class Valentine's and a gift for Cole's teacher.

First off we start with the Superhero Valentines I found on Little Bit Funky.  The super cute cape printable is found on Less Ordinary Designs, they are free make sure you say thank you.

What you Need:
Superhero Printable FREE from Less Ordinary Designs
stiff felt (I used foam sheets from the Dollar Store)
hole punch
2in paper punch (or you can use scissors)
coordinating ribbon
lollipops (tootsie pops have nice superhero colors)
glue (hot or craft will work)
cape template

Cut or Punch out the superhero circles and emblems for the capes.  Cut the cape (I created one you can use it if you would like.  Just save the picture and print, I used it as a template to cut the capes out). Glue the superhero emblems onto the capes. Use a hole punch to punch hole in the top of the cape.  Slide the lollipop through the hole and tie a coordinating ribbon below. Punch a hole in the top and bottom of the word circles and slide onto the stick.  They were very cute and easy to make.

Last on the list to do is a teacher gift.   I found a picture on Marci Coombs website for The Pop-Pop Pop-ular Teacher! Valentine's Gift!

What you Need:
Popcorn Container (found at the Dollar Store)
2 Bags of Microwave Popcorn
2 Boxes of Candy
Ribbon
Card Stock to add the personal message

Add the popcorn and candy into the container.  I typed up the message in word and attached with a ribbon.  Oh yeah it was that easy!

I hope you have a wonderful day and maybe try out one of these easy Valentine's Day Gifts.
