Candy Cane Dreams Gift Idea (Teacher, Neighbor's and Friends)

I made this last year for the boys teachers but then forgot to post it, so here we are a year later and I finally can post since we are in December!  I like finding fun unique gifts to give to people. I saw several ideas on pinterest and just kind of came up with my own.

What you need:
Candy Candy Hershey's Bar
Candy Candy Marshmallows (put in a fun Christmas bag)
Starbucks Via Latte Peppermint Mocha
Candy Canes
Lindor Chocolate (Peppermint if you can find them)
Santa Cup (Dollar Tree)
Starbucks Gift Card (because everyone wants a free cup of coffee / tea)

Put as much as you can in the cup, the rest I gathered up and put in a clear bag and tied with a ribbon and handed them out to the teachers. Easy gift but a yummy one!

Life Gives you Lemons ... Cheer Me Up Gifts

A really nice lady that works at the YMCA that is always so cheerful and nice seemed a little down. We usually chit chat say hi etc and got to talking that she was just having a hard time lately.  I goggled Cheer Me Up Gifts and came across and idea on Michelle Paige's.  She had a cute free printable also to add to the basket.

This is a cute idea and rather inexpensive to make.

What you need:
Basket (I found at Hobby Lobby 50% off for $4.99)
Lemonade Cup (I added this to the gift at Hobby Lobby 50% off for $2.99)
Lemon Soap (Big Lot's $1)
Small Lemons (Grocery Store 5/$1)
Crystal Light Lemonade (Grocery Store $2.99)
Lemon Candies (Hobby Lobby $1.99)
Lemon Citrus Chapstick (Big Lot's $1)
Plastic decorating bag (Dollar Tree 25pk/$1)
Ribbon (White and Pink or just Pink)
Card Stock (For Tag and optional lemonade decorations)
Tissue Paper (optional to fit items in basket)

I had a plastic cookie bag I put the lemon's in.  I added some fun little details using my circut cutter. We had a Lemonade cartridge from the Lemon Battery Science Fair ProjectCaden did so I cut out a few lemons and a drink that I then cut out square's using the George Cartridge. I added in all the treats I picked up into the basket, I put a little tissue paper to hold everything together. I used ribbon to attach the free printable she had, I printed on white card stock and then added a piece of yellow card stock behind to make the tag pop.

You don't have to have the lemon's etc I just thought it would be fun and I had the cartridge and paper so it was easy to do. Make it fun add what fun lemon's you find, I recommend Hobby Lobby they had a whole lemonade section.

Have a great week!

Road Trip Gift Basket

Most of you know I take class at the Y religiously during the week, you would think I would be a stick figure after all these class but that is a story for another day ... lol. One of my favorite instructors is moving, her husband is the military and they have been stationed in another state.  They will driving since they have 3 dogs and a daughter so I wanted to make them a road trip basket. Since they are healthier I tried to do healthy snacks, but hey they are allowed to splurge every once in a while too.

What you Need:
Basket
Crossword Puzzles (for the one not driving)
Pens
Toothbrushes
Tooth Paste
Deodorant
Hand Lotion
Drink
Gum
Snacks

Put it all in the basket and you can put a little note in also.  I was late of course that night so no note from me.

Themed Birthday Gift ... Movie Madness (Teen Birthday Gift)

Next on my list of themed gifts is one I made my for my bosses daughter she is turning 17 this week and I wanted to make her something fun but didn't want it to be generic or something she may not like.  So I went on Google and found a fun gift idea for a Movie Madness on Cottage in the Oaks.  What teen doesn't love going to movies?  Most of these items can be found in the dollar bin except for the movie card I found the cheapest one $25 at the grocery store.

What You Need:
Clear Bag
Popcorn Bin (Or Bags)
Microwave Popcorn
Candy
Snacks
Gum
Drink
Gift Card
Ribbon

What you do:
I found a large clear gift bag that I arrange all the itmes in.  I tied it with fun ribbon I found at Michael's a while back.  It was red and white like the popcorn bags and the design reminded me of popcorn.  I used paper popcorn bags instead of the plastic popcorn bin I was going to to do, since I was mailing these items.

Themed Gift Idea ... Dragons Oh my (Once Upon A Time Gift Bag)

Yesterday I showed the gift for Stacy @ Stacy Uncorked and her family, today I show the gift I did for her daughter Princess Nagger.  Stacy let me know PN loves Dragon's, so I thought why not make a fun Dragon / Fairy Tale gift.  I couldn't find all things dragon so I ran with a Fairy Tale as the Dragon as my focal point.

I hit up Michael's Craft store for a few items and then Target to complete my items.

What I used:
Canvas Bag
Iron On Letters
Wood Castle (I found a pre-painted one at Michael's)
Stuffed Dragon
Foam Castle Craft
Zany Tales (Like a Mad Lib but Fairy Tale Version)
Princess Bracelet (Since they call her Princess Nagger)
Hot Tamales (Wrapped up saying Dragon's Breath)
- Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
- Hot Iron

I first started out with a canvas bag, I then took these fun iron letters that reminded me of the font on fairy tale books.  I first put them on the bag and figured how I wanted them on the bag.  I then took my hot iron and set the letters on how it like them.  I took my trusty hot glue gun and glued the castle down in the middle.  I wanted to keep with the dragon theme.  So I took some Hot Tamales and went to my computer took a flame and added the Words Dragon's Breath.  I wrapped this around the box and done!  I took Pink Tissue paper to match the bag and put it all in.

Themed Gift Idea ... Welcome Home Basket (Dinner and A Movie Night)

Next on our themed gift basket idea is a Dinner and a Movie Night.  My amazing Bloggy friend Stacy from Stacy Uncorked moved back to town.  I wanted to make her and her family a Welcome Home Gift. I've made a version of this as a wedding gift before and it was such a hit that I thought I'd do a smaller version.

What you Need:
Bowl or Colander
Spaghetti Noodles
Spaghetti Sauce
Popcorn
Candy
Movie
Tissue paper as s filler

I put tissue paper at the bottom to help put all the items in the bowl.  I was going to add a thing of french bread but I wasn't sure when they would eat and didn't want to buy something that goes bad.  I also was going to put in a bottle of Wine but she makes the best wine and thought it would be a little silly giving her wine.

Personal Gift Idea .... Welcome Home Basket (Seattle Themed)

And we finish our week of personal gifts with a basket to someone who moves back or moves to an area.  The sister of my leader of my women's group at church was moving back to the area.  I wanted to make her a little something.  I thought a Welcome Home Basket would be perfect.  Since we live in Seattle I thought why not put together a basket of things about Seattle.  We are known for some great coffee so I went on a hunt for coffee.  Then I went and picked up some Almond Roca, it is made right here in Tacoma.  And of course I needed a sweet treat to put in the bin.  I made some scones that are famous at the Western State (Puyallup) Fair - The recipe will come soon!

What you Need (this is for Seattle - Make if for the City you want)
- Starbucks Drink Packets
- Seattle's Best Coffee
- Tully's Coffee (McDreamy bought it a while back)
- Almond Roca
- Homemade Puyallup Fair Scones
- Bin
- Card Stock for a Logo if you want

You can make this for any city/state you want.  Find the things that make that city special.  We are of course known for Coffee so that was the main theme of my basket.  I could have thrown in some apples too :).  I was going to make a logo but I found this Taste of Seattle one that I printed on Card Stock and sprayed with glue and attached to the basket.  Have fun with it and you can bring a smile to someone's face!

Louisville and Darling Doodles.  I took these ideas as my spring board and created my own basket.  Next time I may find a cool bag with the person's name embroidered on it.

What you Need:
Notebook - For Taking Notes
Highlighters - For highlighting important notes
Pens - because they always get stolen
Fruit Snacks - When you don't want to walk to vending machine
Calculator - To add up the big bucks you'll be making
Binder Clips - Bind your lips if needed or reports it's a toss some days
Creamer - When you need to take the edge off black coffee
Aleve - For those days that won't end
Book - Stories of Faith when you need a pick me up
Candle - When you need a moment
Lotion - To keep hands soft from all the paper cuts
Room Spray - When the boy funk gets too much
Lip Gloss - In case a cute guy comes by
Gum - When you need a little chewing to keep you awake
Altoids - For anyone with smelly breath
Chocolate - When all else fails eat some!

I had this all wrote out on a nice little piece of paper (totally forgot to put it in basket .. lol).  I put this all in a nice basket and added a little cute smiley dude and wrote Congrats on your new job.

Then Comes Baby ... Mom to be Kit

After the wedding comes baby, in my case baby #1 came home from the honeymoon with us.  My dear friend is having baby #2 and it was her birthday so I did a duel gift.  I thought it would be fun to do a Mom to be Kit for her.   I looked on pinterest and didn't find exactly I wanted so I went and picked up what I always wanted when I was pregnant.  I think it turned out pretty darn cute.  Next time I may add some fun ribbon and a baby themed item glued onto the front of the basket but overall I was really happy with it.

What you Need:
A Good Book (who doesn't want to put their feet up and read)
Sprite (for upset tummy)
Pretzels (always good to snack on)
Red Vines (always a good snack too)
Saltines (Helps with tummy)
Gum (Mint helps with tummy)
Chicken Noodle Soup (Reminds me of childhood)
Tea
Chocolate (who doesn't need chocolate)
Plastic Cup with Straw
Crystal Light or Store Version
Basket

I won a giveaway a while back so I have a ton of bins on hand which helps since you all know my love of gifts in a bin.  I put some tissue paper in the bottom to make it easy to prop up everything.  I then placed the items in the bin and arranged it to make it look the best.  I really like how it turned out and my friend really enjoyed it.

Give it a whirl I'm sure you'd make any mom to be very happy!

End of School Year Gifts ... Plus Helps with Dead Brain for Summer Time

I wanted to do something special for Caden graduating Kindergarten and I found on pinterest and idea of a basket full of things to prep them for First Grade (forgive me for the life of me I can't find my link I saved, so if it is your's PLEASE let me know and I'll add).  Well I couldn't do one just for Caden I have have one for Cole to so I made a end of 3rd grade basket also.  This was a very simple one to make but the boys were so excited to dive into it. My plan is each day they are to do one or two pages out of the workbooks to keep us from hitting the dreaded Summer Dead Brain as my mom use to call it.

For these I hit up the dollar store, yup it really is packed with activity books and you can load up and make a great gift with out going bankrupt.  I did also add some fun Memory books for the kids to fill out so I can put them in their scrapbooks (yup when I get around to making those).

Caden's Basket!

Cole's Basket
What you Need:
Activity Books (Reading, Math etc)
Flashcards
Puzzles
Reading Books
Coloring Books
Colored Pencils / Crayons / Pencils
Bins

I had some extra bins from a project I did a while back (I'll show that one soon).  I fanned out the material so the kids could get a glimpse of everything in the bin.  Cole will be entering 4th Grade so I found material for 3/4 grade and he LOVES mechanical pencils so I bought him a whole pack (I think he was the MOST excited for those).  Caden will be entering 1st Grade so I found material for 1/2 grade and he LOVES color pencils so I bought those for him.  He is my reading bug like me so I put in an extra book for him.  If I had more time I would add a little ribbon and a tag but I they loved it!

Kindergarten Graduation Gift Basket

3rd Grade Gift Basket

I wanted to do a little some fun for the kids to fill out and I'll put in their scrapbook (ummm humm ... reminder to self get those done).  I went to my favorite site that I used when I was doing newsletters for the PTF, Teachers Pay Teachers Website.  I found these super cute books that I printed off on my home printer and stapled together for little books.  The ones I picked were FREE downloads but you can always use the pay for one's also and they are really reasonable.  The 3rd Grade Memory book I found HERE.  The Kindergarten Memory book I found HERE.

Easy gift to do and makes summer learning fun!

Hope you all have a GREAT day!

Gift for the Science Enthusiast (Inexpensive & Fun)

As most of you know that I LOVE to do theme gifts and giving something that is unique and not just the usual item you buy and throw in a bag.  My best friend's son (my dinner guest every other week) had a birthday a few weekends ago.  She loves to do experiments with him.  So when I came across this science kit on I Can Teach My Child.  I had to make it.  It was so simple to make, I picked up most of the items at the Dollar Tree & Walmart.  This super cool kit cost around $20 and I swear was a HUGE hit worth so much more.

She even put together a really cool pdf that you can print with experiments and what is needed for each experiment.  NOW you MUST sign up for her email alerts to get this download (I will NOT add a link here, you have to go to her site, click on the link science kit above to get the FREE download).  You can always create your own, but I'm all about the easy and really a few extra emails won't kill me.

What you Need:

  • Download and Print the Fascinating Science for Kids eBook
  • Matching Printable Gift Tags
  • Goggles (Alexis Notes: I gave up finding in the winter so I skipped!)
  • Personalized Lab Coat (a men’s white-collared shirt from Goodwill with the child’s name written on it) - Alexis Notes another item I skipped
  • Marshmallows
  • Rubber Bands
  • Balloons
  • Food coloring
  • Funnel
  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • A few tablespoons of Yeast (Alexis Notes - I picked up the 3 pk of yeast)
  • 2-Liter of Diet Soda
  • Mentos
  • Oil
  • Bar Magnet (Alexis Notes - Couldn't find so skipped)
  • Rock Salt (Alexis Notes - Couldn't find so skipped)
  • Radish seeds
  • CD/DVD (Alexis Notes - Left out)
  • Cap of a Sports Drink (Alexis Notes - found one on the side of Rick's bed .. lol)

Combine all of the materials and print off a gift tag.  Wrap up the basket in some cellophane and add your tag!  I just printed and added a paper clip.  You could  laminate the pages back-to-back and bind them with a metal ring, if you want.

I skipped a few items due to time and well I couldn't find at the two stores I went to so they will have to just pick those up.  I loved this gift so much that I also made it for my bosses son.  He is a great little guy who loves experiments and I just knew this would be right up his isle.  I mailed it off and my boss let me know it was perfect for him.  SCORE!!!

Happy Monday hope you all had a great weekend!
