Thursday DVD Review ~ It's a Wrap

This was such a cute show on Hallmark, of course how can you not fall in love with a soldier serving over seas that gets a note from a little boy. Who knew a love could blossom. Super cute, you know what will happen but you just got to love it.

Loughlin took time during her 90201 hiatus to make Meet My Mom, a Hallmark Channel movie. The 45 year old actress is also starring as a divorcee with a so who moves with with her mom, portrayed by Stefanie Powers, in Meet My Mom on Hallmark Channel.

In Meet My Mom, Loughlin portrays Dana Marshall, a newly divorced mother with a ten year old son. She moves across the country to California, to live with her mother, portrayed by Stefanie Powers. As an assignment for his fourth grade class, Dana's son Jared (Charles Henry Wyson) writes a letter to a U.S. soldier overseas, resulting in a budding romance for his mom when his penpal, Sergeant Vince Carerra (Johnny Messner) pays an unexpected visit.

Another Wii instant download, thought it would be cute but overall it wasn't that wasn't the good it had some slow points and of course you have a feel good ending but overall not one you'd sit down watch. What is it with Jeff Bridges and the alcoholic roles?

With his mother (Mary Steenburgen) facing surgery, Carlton (Justin Timberlake) and his friend Lucy (Kate Mara) travel to Ohio to round up his estranged father, Kyle (Jeff Bridges), a baseball legend. Michael Meredith's comedy-drama follows the unlikely trio on an emotionally awkward road trip back to Texas. As the miles unfold before them, father and son begin a journey of reconciliation in the hopes of healing old wounds. Lyle Lovett co-stars.

We've seen this one before but saw it on the instant download and had to watch it again. Adam Sandler's movies haven't done it for me lately but this one I thought was cute and perfect. Cole didn't really get into it but I liked it :). Plus Russel Brand didn't totally annoyed me this time.

Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) is a down-on-his-luck guy who's always telling bedtime stories to his niece and nephew. But his life is turned upside down when the fantastical stories he makes up for entertainment inexplicably turn into reality. Can a bewildered Skeeter manage his own unruly fantasies now that the outrageous characters and situations from his mind have morphed into actual people and events?

What an odd but cute in some ways. Imagine getting a timer put on that will tell you when you'll meet the person you're meant to be with. Would you want to know? It has some slow points and some adult content but there was some cute moments. It does show you how life works in weird ways and people come into your life and odd times and for a purpose. Probably not a renter unless you're bored. It's on the Wii instant download so hey there you go :).

In this comedic fantasy, science has facilitated the search for a soul mate via biotechnological implants that count down to the moment one is supposed to meet his or her match. But Oona (Emma Caulfield) is worried: She's nearly 30, and her TiMER isn't ticking yet. Will her dream guy get snatched up by someone else? John Patrick Amedori co-stars in this film from first-time writer and director Jac Schaeffer.

Another one I saw the cast and just had to watch it. But sadly was not impressed. It was just a weird movie, yes they all live in this big city and some lives may intersect but it just couldn't keep my interest.

A companion piece to Paris, je t'aime, this valentine to New York cleverly blends nearly a dozen love stories, each presented by a different filmmaker. From Central Park to Brooklyn and Queens, each tale features the Big Apple as a central character. The writer-directors include Natalie Portman and Brett Ratner, and the cast features Shia LaBeouf, James Caan, Julie Christie, Christina Ricci, Ethan Hawke and dozens more.

And oldy but a goody, Cole has the Mario Cart for his DS and saw this on the Wii instant download and almost died. Now remember it starts out with the in real life characters so at first he was bummed but I let him know just wait the cartoon will start soon. It's old and the special effects aren't glorious but the boys loved it.

In 1989, the two Brooklyn plumbers burst out of the Nintendo game world and onto television screens. "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" aired weekday afternoons and catapulted Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and King Koopa into thrilling, animated adventures. What's more, each vintage episode contains live-action segments with such guest stars as Cyndi Lauper, Sgt. Slaughter, Danica McKellar, Joe Piscopo and Magic Johnson.

Another good one for the boys, you know how we love sharks and fish and then you add in animated and it's a winner for us.
Monty Python alum Terry Jones and Alan Rickman give voice to this animated yarn in which three children, Fly, Chuck and Stella, discover what it's like to be a fish after drinking a potion concocted by their nemesis. Professor MacKrill's latest brew turns anyone who drinks it into a kind of a fish, allowing that person to eat, sleep, drink and, most important, breathe underwater. And it's Stella who winds up trying it first

  8. I saw The Open Road a few weeks ago. I was expecting a baseball movie so I was a little disappointed. It was slow and the ending left me hanging a bit which I didn't like. Thought Bedtime Stories was cute. Thanks for the great reviews!!

  13. Too bad on the Jeff Bridges movies. Some good actors in that one. Doesn't it seem like Mary Steenburgen is in every other movie you watch! Bedtime stories was okay. Heck ~ if I'm not paying $10. to see it in the show then I call it entertainment!

  15. As I was watching "Meet My Mom" - I was thinking about you, I just KNEW that you were watching it. I loved that movie and thought everybody in it was adorable.
I haven't seen any of the other ones and probably won't, none of them appeal to me.
I'm glad you found a few for the kids that made them happy.
