WWW ~ May Day Parade
As usual a fun and crazy weekend around here. But lots of fun as always and then Tuesday I pick up Caden to find he slipped and fell at Grandma's House and yup we have a shinner. Balance is not one of our best things around here, yes this woman who runs into walls still!

Sunday my mom signed the boys up for a Parade
Braden, Cole's BFF from next door came along!
It was so much fun and I LOVED talking w/ his parents.
It was a lot of fun until it poured on us ... lol
The Old Canary brought their train that the boys rode on.
They had judging for each category.
Our super hero's tied for 1st place and got medals!
Mom took me and the boys to pizza at Aversano's for pizza

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday ~ Sloppy Joe Calzone
Another yummy one from Heidi I of course made one big one instead of making little ones. Hey I made this when I working outside the house and it was like 6pm when I would get home so whatever is the quickest is what I'll be making :). Enjoy this was a hit with all the boys!
SLOPPY JOE CALZONE
1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
In a large skillet, cook the beef, onion and pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the beans, tomato paste, water, ketchup, oregano and salt. Separate crescent dough into six rectangles; seal perforations. Spoon a fourth of the meat mixture onto half of each rectangle; sprinkle with cheese. Fold dough over filling; pinch edges to seal. Cut slits in tops. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Make Something Monday ... Beer Cheese Soup
Another amazing recipe that I could actually make from my foodie friend Chef E at Food ~ Wine ~ Fun and her yummy recipe Beer Cheese Soup in Bread Bowls. This is great when dad comes to visit and leaves beer in my fridge. I'm not a big beer drinker and either is Rick so of course I can't throw away so I make dinner with it! This was amazing and so delish and the beer totally cooked out so it wasn't like sitting back pounding one. LOVED it!
European Street Style Beer Cheese Soup
1 cup onion chopped
1/2 cup carrot finely diced
1/3 cup celery finely diced
1/2 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon paprika
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
12 ounces beer
3 cups chicken broth up to 5 cups if desired.
4 cups cheddar cheese shredded
2 cups half and half
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
1/2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup onion chopped
1/2 cup carrot finely diced
1/3 cup celery finely diced
1/2 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon paprika
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard

1/2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Chef E's Directions:Sauté carrots, onions, and celery in butter until the onions are translucentStir in flour and cook on low heat for 3-4 minutes, whisking constantly, making sure it does not burn.Stir in beer (must be first to cook off the alcohol), paprika, mustard, Worcestershire, and broth. Use wire whisk to smooth. Add cheese, slowly bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Feel free to mix up the cheese or a use a blend of cheeses, such as cheddar and Parmesan, sharp cheddar and colby-jack, or whatever. Tonight’s blend was some of the smoked cheeses that I cold smoked last week, including mild cheddar, white cheddar, and fontina.Remove from heat and fold in half and half (or heavy cream if you want to get that first heart attack out of the way tonight). Add Tabasco. Serve w/ extra Tabasco on the side and fresh popcorn as garnish.
ALEXIS NOTES: I didn't have carrots or celery at that time (I made this one a few months back and wasn't so good with having veggies on hand all the time). I did have some potatoes and threw those in! Chef E has lot's of fancy cheeses too on hand this girl used what was on sale at grocery store. One day I'll experiment and have some fun cheeses to play with. It was so yummy even with what I had on hand ;). I used my fat free half and half and it tasted great.
Stealing Lumby Book Review
A while back I told you about . I'm on to the second book in the series Stealing Lumby and is just as charming. As you all know I love this book because one it's based in Washington but the story just sucks you into this small town you so want to be a part of.
In the second book in the series we are taken on a wild trip of a missing painting that turns out to be a 2 old barns in Lumby. The press hit Lumby in full force to find out more about the small town and ruffle a few feathers in the process. Most stay at the Montis Inn owned by once City Folks Pam & Mark who now are part of this small town and don't miss the city one bit!
Most of the reporters are rude and hate the small town that doesn't offer the same amenities as the big city. If only they knew what they lack in Starbucks they more then make up for in charm! You'll fall more in love with this town as you see them pull together when one of the famous barns in the paintings disappears in the middle of the night. They come together for a barn raising and then even pitch in to paint the barn.
During these crazy times a flood hits the Lumby Library giving Charlotte Ross the town richest lady the town to give like she always does to update the Library. She adds in a children's wing, a fireplace and a few other new items. Charlotte usually gives as anonymous and has a few other surprises up her sleeve. During all this commotion the poor Monks of Saint Cross Abby are being threated with a hostile take over for their rum business that Pam helped them put together the year before.
Many surprise are around the corner for Lumby and the wonderful town people. Some sad but over all good things to come. This book had me again laughing out loud at the gym while I was reading it. Gail Fraser has an amazing way of writing and make you feel like you are a part of the book. I promise you'll enjoy this book and want to read the rest of series like I do. I'm almost done with book 3 and can't wait to read book 4 and 5 and then I'll have to find out where to get book 6 :).

Sometimes you're the Windshield ... Sometimes you're the Bug
These last few days I'm the bug in this giant Windshield of life. Ever feel like your the bug and then someone had the audacity to turn on the windshield wiper fluid and then turn on the wiper. Well that is my life in a nutshell.
Rick of course doesn't have the full time job yet so things are tight and so are tensions here at the house. When Rick is stressed he goes into perfect world meaning our house needs to be in order. And guess what happened the UPS guy shows up with a few new books! UGH, lately I haven't been excepting a lot because I don't have a lot hiding places when he is here to see them come in ;). So neat freak boy got cranky about the amount of books I have in the house. Fine I'll gather them up and take them to Half price books. Usually it works out great I can get a good amount for the books & audio books. This time I take them there and the guy actually offers me a 1/8 of the price I usually get, I take off the 15 audio books and tell him I'll sale them he told me ok I'll knock of $10. You were going to give me $10 for 15 audio books!!! You got to be kidding me! Well crap if I could sneak these other books back into the house I would!!! Yes turn on more fluid I think half my body is still stuck there!
Then Rick was super excited he had a second interview for a supervisor role at a major department store here in town. Rick's been trying to get into this company for a few years now but the timing has never worked. So super excited, that was until mom talked to him and told him it was a dead end job. UGH mom has never liked Rick working in Loss Prevention in her mind it's a useless job that has no potential. She said it's like her getting a job a Value Village (a thrift shop here). I know it really hurt Rick he values moms opinion but really loves working in loss prevention, he's very good at it but sadly has had a bad run of luck with the companies. He did apply at the place mom suggested. But I hope he just gets a job and if it pays well and he can move up then I'm happy. And working for a place your happy with can make a world of difference.
Then today I had a HUGE plan to get up early get my coffee and rock my calls. I of course couldn't sleep thinking of what I needed to do today for work. I tossed and turned all night long and then at one point this am I turned just to look at the clock to see how much longer I had to lay there and oh CRAP I was suppose to start 8 min ago!!!! YOU got to be freaking kidding me! I hop on do my confirmation calls and then start on my new calls then the ultimate raspberry in my face! Yup my calls were having problems and I had to listen to EACH call to find ones that needed me to call right away! You got to be kidding me universe I'm squished you flooded me with fluid to wash me away I'm barely hanging in and then you go and power wash my bug butt away!! So my BIG plans to get a ton of calls done flopped along with my hopes of being a star employee. As I told my boss I feel like I have entered the "half" room in Charlie and the Chocolate factory (original - Gene Wilder).
Ok I've hit the windshield been washed and smeared can I please be done ... haha!
