The showdown of the Sloppy Joe's. Of course these are always a hit with the boys and my floor since they can't seem to make it all in their mouths!
Our first was a recipe I found on the Duggar Family Website.
1 lb. ground beef/turkey
1/2 c. ketchup
1/2 c. BBQ sauce
1/2 envelope dry onion soup mix
2 tsp. liquid smoke
Brown & season meat, drain. Add all other ingredients, heat
Through. Serve on buns; enjoy!

And the winner of the Sloppy Joe Throwndown (Yes a Nod to Bobby Flay) is from my all time favorite blogger Heidi at Tried and True. You can see I've done tons of her recipes. As I tell her if I'm in a funk I head of do a search and there is dinner :).
1 (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup bottled barbecue sauce
1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
2 TBSP chopped pickled jalapeno peppers (optional)
1 TBSP liquid from pickled jalapeno peppers (optional
1 package frozen garlic Texas toast
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring often, 8 - 10 minutes or until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain well. Return to skillet. Stir in tomatoes, next 3 ingredients, and, if desired, jalapeno pepper and liquid. Cover and cook 10 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare Texas toast according to package directions. Serve beef mixture over Texas toast; sprinkle with cheese.
Mmmm yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteit's so sad that you always manage to make me STARVING for REAL food when it's only breakfast time.. lol
oh yea.. sweet baby rays bbq sauce... BEST SAUCE EVAH!!!
I think we will have sloppy joes for dinner tonight! Thanks for figuring out my meal for me!
ReplyDeleteI havent had sloppy joes since I was a kid...my hubs hates them!
ReplyDeleteI would think that the Duggar recipe would call for a side of beef, ground.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I love me some jalapenos.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun show down. I have not had one of those in awhile. My husband does not care for them. I guess when he is not home I will just have to have some..
ReplyDeletethere has always got to be a winner, great choice, nice recipe xx
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I want sloppy joes, I open a can of Manwich. =)
Yum we love sloppy joes. I have a super healthy recipe I keep wanting to make, but keep forgetting! Hope you had a great weekend and a wonderful week:)
ReplyDeleteThat sure looks good on the Texas toast!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! I made meatloaf that was given a half thumbs up by the kids tonight. They normally hate it but I tried a different recipe and they liked it better. Not sure why they are not fans of sloppy joes or meatloaf!
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! (My kids won't eat Sloppy Joes though so I never make them.)
ReplyDeleteSo 4 stars out of...5? I love sloppy joes!
ReplyDeleteThese both sound really good, but I think I'd agree with your assessment that the Bobby Flay recipe sounds much better - and I love Texas Toast. I'd make it without the Jalapenos, don't like it too hot. :-)
