Start of School Year Teacher Gift - If you give a teacher a cookie ...

A quick break from the Emoji Party items I have a quick teacher gift for the start of school. So school started early this year so this is a little late but hey it's the thought! I saw this awesome idea on Thirty Handmade Days she has a FREE printable also that you can use! You know my love of a free printable, less work for me!

With Cole now in middle school and having 6 teachers it is not as easy to make teacher gifts. Well ... it's easy but can get spendy!! So I decided to make these cookie bags which is inexpensive and a cute idea!!

What you Need:
Baked Cookies (recipe below)
Clear treat bags (25pk $1 Dollar Tree)
Card Stock
Twine (or ribbon)
Hole Puncer
Scissors or paper cutter tool

Place cookies in the bag (I put 4 in each bag). I printed her FREE printable (link if you click on her blog name above) onto card stock paper. I used my paper cutter to cut them down and then a hole punch to add a hole. I used twine since I have a crap load of it left over from my mom's wine party last year, PLUS it's very rustic and cool looking! Tie on the card and close up the bag!
All packed up and ready to go to school!a

All Recipes Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
I did a mix of semi sweet, dark chocolate and for fun added in some butter finger crumbles. Mine seemed to spread a bit too much and took 15min in my oven to bake.

Tough Cookie Card and Heart Cookies

A family member had a "I beat cancer" birthday party. I wanted to do something nice and I found a tough cookie card. I couldn't find a step by step so I kind of looked at it and took my circle cutters and paper cutters to make the card look like the example she had.

For the card:

Dark Brown Card Stock
Light Brown Card Stock
White Card Stock
Black Card stock
Brown Pen
Black Pen

I cut the brown and white into card size (the white smaller). For the white square I put it in my printer and printed the words "You're One Tough Cookie". I cut a circle of brown and light brown (again light brown smaller). I cut out like bites out of the cookie. For the eyes I cut small white and black circles. For the eyebrows I made black strips. I colored on brown spots for the chips on the cookie. I used a black sharpie and made the arms and legs.

I also made some simple cookies with a heart on them. I royal iced them and then using a piping bag and royal icing tinted red I free-handed some hearts.

I think they turned out so cute!

Cookie Lover Gift Idea

So here is another gift I made for the Christmas party we went to last weekend.  I saw this idea on Pinterest but it just lead to a photo so I'm sorry I can't give credit to anyone.  I took the photo and kind of made it my own.  The original photo was a square potholder with a cookie cutter attached and a bag of cookie mix.  I wanted to give some cookie tools so the person who got it could whip up the cookies, I had a feeling a kid would get the gift since adults and kids were grabbing and either or would like this gift.  This is a simple one that would cost you around $10 (most of the items you can find at the dollar store.

You need:
Christmas Oven Mit (found it at dollar store)
Betty Crocker Spatula (dollar store)
Betty Crocker Measuring Spoons (dollar store)
Bettyy Crocker Measuring Cups (dollar store)
Bag of Betty Crocker Cookie Mix (Sugar Cookie for $1.29 Walmart)
Cookie Cutter (Ross $2.99)

Put the cookie mix and the tools into the oven mit.  I then picked up a cookie cutter a nice metal one at Ross for $2.99.  I took some scrapbook paper and made a sign.  I found the wording that worked perfect on label on Make it Do's Website.  Then stuck it together with some glue and tied it on with the ribbon I used for the cookie Cutter.  The perfect gift for the baker in your life.

Hope you make this it was so cute and the person who got it really liked it.
