Visiting Zoog's from Restaurant Impossible

One of my favorite shows is Restaurant Impossible and I love when they come to Washington State so I can go try out the place.  We've gone to 2 other restaurant's so far and for Valentine's Day we went to the 3rd one on our list.

This is my OVER Cheese smile
EVERY TIME I meet someone on TV.

Thanks to my husband indulging in my craziness and drove me 1 1/2 hours to Zoog's Caveman Cookin Restaurant & Cave Lounge in Port Hadlock, WA.  We got there around 7:30pm so thankfully the Valentine's Day rush was over but so was MOST of the Valentine's Day specials.  They were only doing that menu and not their full menu which we really wanted to try the BBQ and salmon.

Zoog actually came over to our table to greet us and say hi and see how we are doing. Rick was so sweet and asked Zoog if he would take a picture with me :). We got to talk to him a while. He said a few things were staged like the IRS lady and the Keg of beer. He was going in that following Tuesday for his heart surgery and was in great spirits.

We both ended up with burgers that were very good and juicy. We probably won't make the drive again but it was worth the one trip.

Have a GREAT Thursday!

Restaurant Impossible Visited Spunky Monkey

Rick and I had date night last Saturday, the boys were at the YMCA Kids Night Out and we had a free night.  I love watching Restaurant Impossible and they came to a town not to far from us and we had to go check it out.

The Spunky Monkey is in Auburn, Washington.  It's a Bar / Restaurant.  I used to go hang there with friends pre kids.  It was what you would expect a bar to be like dark and greasy food!  Robert and his crew did a great job sprucing the place up.  It was a fun night out, the staff were very nice but the food was way over priced.  We walked out around $52, which I thought was crazy high.

I started with the hummus for $8 it was a good deal, the salmon I had was like $17 and you had a small amount of sweet potato (really it was yams but they can call them sweet potatoes).  Which I guess is the going price but I'd expect that in a big fancy place not a bar / restaurant.  We had fun and that is all that matters, we don't get many date nights out.  Rick is usually working 2 jobs and doesn't leave to many free night.  You may have saw him on the SeaHawks game 2 weeks ago (he was the security guard that opened the gate for the 2nd injured player, see pic below).

Here are some fun pictures of our date night!

Featured on Pin Me Party 69

I'm so excited my Avocado Hummus  was featured on my friend (also an amazing webpage designer, check mine out she did it) Diana Rambles Pin Me Party 69.  I loved this recipe so much and glad that other's loved it too.  It was so simple to make and I'm sure if I would have shared the kids and Rick would have liked it too ... teehehe.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Rick's bday is next Friday but the Kids Night Out at the YMCA is this weekend so it looks like date night for us.  I think we will go to the Spunky Monkey in Auburn, WA that was just on Restaurant Impossible last week.  I'm so excited to go see it I haven't been there since my party years (pre kids).

Restaurant Impossible Visited ... Alexis Style

It's not often Rick and I agree on a TV program, but Restaurant Impossible is one of the shows we both enjoy!  Now you all know I love to cook, I wouldn't call myself a foodie but I do love to try new recipes and also restaurant.  Last week we watched Restaurant Impossible on the Food Network to find it was a restaurant here in Washington State.  Rick looked it up and found it was about 40 minutes from us.  He was so thoughtful and made a plan for us to go this Sunday when we both were off from work.

I was so excited to ONE go out and TWO visit a famous place!  Now we haven't gone out in many many months for dinner due to a very limited budget.

The Waitress from the episode & me!

We went to Whiskey Creek Steak House in Keyport, Washington (close to Bremerton).  It was a very cute restaurant, they did a great make over and it was so cool to see what you saw on tv in real life.  It was really small, which on TV I never would have guessed that.  You could tell the 10 grand was not used on the bathrooms.  They were a little run down and I must say it scared me a little that a space heater was blowing on my rear while trying to pee :).  They had a great menu to choose from, we didn't order a steak but people around us did and from what I saw everyone ate every bite.  I believe there was only one cook in the kitchen so it took a little bit to get your food but really I didn't mind it was nice to hang with the family and talk to the staff. LOVED our waitress who was featured on the show and she made us laugh the whole visit.  The prices are a little expensive, we ordered 3 items (boys shared due to not feeling the best) so our bill came up to around $50 which in the previous months would be around 80% of my weekly food budget so it was nice to splurge!  Rick and I thought it was a great place and we actually are planning a date night when we can go back with out the kids, then Rick can order that steak he was drooling over!!

On our way home we decided to head over to Seattle to take the long way home.  That way we could take the ferry and let the kids run around and have a little fun!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend and a wonderful day!
