Today I was so happy to wake up this morning to find my Emoji Cookies were featured on Idea Box Link Party. I'm such a nut for themed parties and maybe going a little too far if my husband could speak at this point he would say that .. lol. But it's so nice to be recognized for a project you've done.Thank you again to Mila, Carole, Danielle and Cyndee for the party.

Emoji Themed Party ... Perler Beads
And last on the Emoji themed birthday party is the Perler Beads made. The boys and I have loved doing perler beads for all the parties. We will make characters and then put them in the party bags for the kids. I just talked to a mom from Caden's school who told me they still have the minion we made from a few parties back (yes I almost cried someone kept them).
What you Need:
Perler Beads (Colors needed for the character etc)
Perler Board
Perler Paper (like a wax paper)
Hot Iron
I always google first Perler Beads and the theme I'm working on. I then print them out and use as my guide to make. I
use a medium board and map out what I'm making. We put two Emoji character's in each party favor box that each kid got to take
home. This time I bought clips at Hobby Lobby to make them key chains for the kids to hang on backpacks etc.
Once
you get the design you like, you put the perler paper on top. I have
got it down when I set the iron on top of the paper I set a timer on my
phone for 90 seconds. If I do longer it melts too much and the board
gets messed up. I have found that you can warp the board if you heat it
up too much. I make so many of these each party that I have to by new
boards each time. Thankfully they are not too expensive.
Here is a step by step if you have not done a perler bead before:
- Working on a flat surface, create your design by placing beads one by one on a Perler peg board.
- Preheat a dry household iron to the medium setting. When carrying the bead design to the iron, be careful not to tip or bump the beads from the peg board! Cover the beads with the ironing paper. Keeping the iron level, gently iron the beads in a circular motion for about 10 seconds** to fuse the beads evenly. When ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. If you are working on a 3-D project, DO NOT OVER-IRON the beads as it will make the centers of the beads close and can make assembly more challenging.
- Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Lift your design from the peg board and flip the design over onto your ironing surface. Cover it with the ironing paper and iron the other side to fuse it evenly. Your peg board and ironing paper are reusable.

Here are my workers and a sample of how we do this.
The boys like to see the picture and duplicate.

Emoji Themed Party ... Emoji Rice Crispy Treats
Next on the Emoji themed item is fun Rice Crispy Treats. This was a super simple and fun idea to make. I saw this on Pinterest and kind of made them my own!
What You Need:
Sheet pan of Rice Crispy Treats
Circle Cookie Cutter
Royal Icing (Black, Blue, Red) - Or Gel Frosting
Candy Eyes
Heart Candy
Use the circle cutter to cut out the rice crispy. I used a piping bag to make the faces. I added other items like the candy eyes and hearts for eyes and kisses. I used the Google sheet of emoji faces I found earlier to make the details on these treats also.

Emoji Themed Party .. Nerdy Cookies
Another Emoji themed cookie was the Nerdy face. I of course was in a hurry and didn't take step by step pictures of this cookie. This is an easy one and I added some of these to the top of cupcakes also.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Circle Cutter (I cut the baked cookies so they were all uniformed in size)
Black Chocolate Melts (Melted in piping bag)
Sunglass / Glass outline
I printed out a bunch of glasses I googled and then pasted into word. I then took a piece of parchment paper and put over the paper. I then piped with my melted chocolate melts in the shape of the glasses. Make sure they are on the thicker side (my thin ones ended up broken). I attached the chocolate glasses to the cookies with a little dot of the melted chocolate. I also added a dot of the melted chocolate ad the eyes.

Emoji Themed Party ... Poop Cupcakes
One More Cupcake to show from the Emoji party. I know some think the Poop emoji is gross but when you have a 9 year old's party of course the poop emoji was a must. I found several ideas and found just created what I thought would be cute.
What you need:
Cupcake
Frosting (tint brown)
Gel Food Color Brown (AmeriColor)
Candy Eyes
Marshmallow (cut into smiles)
I use gel food coloring because it's the least messy and love the color it comes out. I turned my frosting brown and piped it on in swirl. I added some candy eyes and cut some marshmallows to look like the smiles. Done! YUP that easy! I also found Emoji Cupcake Liners on Amazon. A WEEK after this party Hobby Lobby had a whole emoji themed party isle .. yup that is my life.

Emoji Themed Party ... Emoji Cookies / Cupcake Toppers
Back on Emoji party items made. I love to make cookies with royal icing, this has become me new obsession. I also have found sugar cookies make for GREAT cupcake toppers. I make enough cookies to be on a cookie tray and then some to go on top of cupcakes for a double sugar dose of goodness!
What you Need:
Sugar Cookies cut into circles (see my fav sugar cookie recipe below)
Royal Icing in Yellow, Red, Blue & Black (recipe below)
AmeriColor Gel Food Coloring Yellow, Red, Blue & Black (to dye Icing)
Pipping Bag
Red Heart Sprinkles (large size - For eyes and Kisses)
Candy Eye's
Red Edible Marker
Tint your Royal Icing to the perfect shade of yellow. I use the dipping method with my royal icing. I started to do this about 6 months ago to speed up my decorating time. You can pipe each cookie which is a little cleaner but I find the dipping method to be the best. You get your royal icing to the outline consistency and put into a pie dish (I find this is not too deep). Once you dip the top of the cookie you tap off the extra icing and then you let dry! Once dry you can add your details. I like to do my cookies the night before to give plenty of time for the icing to harden. I took a plastic piping bag and added the details with Red, Blue and Black royal icing. I have found in the past making this a little thicker than your outlining consistency is best if not they run together and you get a cyclops (which kids think are cool but not the look I was going for).
I googled Emoji images and then copied the different faces onto the cookies. With a piping bag I drew on the faces (on the dried yellow). I added hearts for some eyes, hearts for a kiss, the red marker was used for tongues and rosy cheeks and candy eyes to others. Some of the cookies went on a cookie tray the others I placed on top of a frosted cupcake.

Julie Usher, she has a GREAT YouTube video on how to make, color and make consistency adjustments.
Royal Icing what you need:
2 lbs Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
5 Large Egg Whites (or equivalent)
Flavor to Taste
Gel Icing Color
Mix
powder sugar and cream of tartar in your mixer, just to make sure it is
incorporated in. Slowly add egg whites, then whip start of slow then go
to very high speed. She says around 2 minutes, my friend had an older
mixer so it took almost 10 minutes. You want stiff peaks that hold on
and won't fall off the spoon. Add in your flavor, I would suggest you
use a clear flavoring. This would be the glue texture great for ginger
bread houses etc.
Take
1 cup of royal icing in a smaller bowl then add your coloring, lightly
mix so you don't get air into the the icing. I'm like her and like the
gel coloring.
For Top Coating - Add 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 tsp Water (This is if you don't want to outline and flood)
For Outlining - Add 1/2 to 3/4 tsp Water
For Flooding - Add 2 to 3 tsp Water
WATCH her video on How to Top-Coat, Outline, and Flood Cookies. YES it is around 7 minutes BUT if you have never done this technique it's a MUST she explains it perfectly.
