Emoji Themed Party ... Poop Cupcakes

One More Cupcake to show from the Emoji party. I know some think the Poop emoji is gross but when you have a 9 year old's party of course the poop emoji was a must. I found several ideas and found just created what I thought would be cute.

What you need:
Cupcake
Frosting (tint brown)
Gel Food Color Brown (AmeriColor)
Candy Eyes
Marshmallow (cut into smiles)

I use gel food coloring because it's the least messy and love the color it comes out. I turned my frosting brown and piped it on in swirl. I added some candy eyes and cut some marshmallows to look like the smiles. Done! YUP that easy! I also found Emoji Cupcake Liners on Amazon. A WEEK after this party Hobby Lobby had a whole emoji themed party isle .. yup that is my life.

Emoji Themed Party ... Emoji Cookies / Cupcake Toppers

Back on Emoji party items made. I love to make cookies with royal icing, this has become me new obsession. I also have found sugar cookies make for GREAT cupcake toppers. I make enough cookies to be on a cookie tray and then some to go on top of cupcakes for a double sugar dose of goodness!

What you Need:
Sugar Cookies cut into circles (see my fav sugar cookie recipe below)
Royal Icing in Yellow, Red, Blue & Black (recipe below)
AmeriColor Gel Food Coloring Yellow, Red, Blue & Black (to dye Icing)
Pipping Bag
Red Heart Sprinkles (large size - For eyes and Kisses)
Candy Eye's
Red Edible Marker

Tint your Royal Icing to the perfect shade of yellow. I use the dipping method with my royal icing. I started to do this about 6 months ago to speed up my decorating time. You can pipe each cookie which is a little cleaner but I find the dipping method to be the best. You get your royal icing to the outline consistency and put into a pie dish (I find this is not too deep). Once you dip the top of the cookie you tap off the extra icing and then you let dry! Once dry you can add your details. I like to do my cookies the night before to give plenty of time for the icing to harden. I took a plastic piping bag and added the details with Red, Blue and Black royal icing. I have found in the past making this a little thicker than your outlining consistency is best if not they run together and you get a cyclops (which kids think are cool but not the look I was going for).

I googled Emoji images and then copied the different faces onto the cookies. With a piping bag I drew on the faces (on the dried yellow). I added hearts for some eyes, hearts for a kiss, the red marker was used for tongues and rosy cheeks and candy eyes to others. Some of the cookies went on a cookie tray the others I placed on top of a frosted cupcake.

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS:
1.In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3.Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

Julie Usher, she has a GREAT YouTube video on how to make, color and make consistency adjustments

Royal Icing what you need:
2 lbs Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
5 Large Egg Whites (or equivalent)
Flavor to Taste
Gel Icing Color

Mix powder sugar and cream of tartar in your mixer, just to make sure it is incorporated in. Slowly add egg whites, then whip start of slow then go to very high speed. She says around 2 minutes, my friend had an older mixer so it took almost 10 minutes. You want stiff peaks that hold on and won't fall off the spoon. Add in your flavor, I would suggest you use a clear flavoring.  This would be the glue texture great for ginger bread houses etc.

Take 1 cup of royal icing in a smaller bowl then add your coloring, lightly mix so you don't get air into the the icing. I'm like her and like the gel coloring.

For Top Coating - Add 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 tsp Water (This is if you don't want to outline and flood)
For Outlining - Add 1/2 to 3/4 tsp Water
For Flooding  - Add 2 to 3 tsp Water

WATCH her video on How to Top-Coat, Outline, and Flood Cookies. YES it is around 7 minutes BUT if you have never done this technique it's a MUST she explains it perfectly.

Emoji Themed Party ... Emoji Marshmallow Pops & Emoji Babybel Cheese

And back to the Emoji party! Here is a simple and easy fun item to make for an Emoji party.  I saw on Pinterest several different versions of this so I don't know the original creator, forgive me if you did give credit.
What you Need:
Marshmallows (I used Large but you could even use jumbo)
Yellow Candy Melts
Candy Writable Markers
Lollipop Sticks
Melt the candy melts, I do mine for 2 minutes in the microwave. Be-careful so you don't burn them, I've done this before! Stick on end of the lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and insert into the marshmallow. Once it has harden up dip the marshmallow into the yellow chocolate. Let them dry on some wax paper. Once they are dry take your writable marker and draw on the faces. And bam done!

Also in the picture you will see the Babybel Cheese's that we took out of the outer wax casing. Take the same writable markers to draw on the faces. Easy and fun, these were gone first.

Emoji Themed Party ... Emoji Birthday Banner!

Next on the list was a Birthday Banner. As I've mentioned before I came back from a work trip the day before the party. I did use my Cricut the week before I left to cut out the banner and glue it all together. ALL that was left was to string it with twine to hang it up. The night before the party my bestie came over to help finish the cookies and food. I had her on the banner duty, well the day of the party we found that was the one item we didn't finish .. lol. Now I have a banner that needs to be strung up. Anyone having a Emoji Party that would like one, it's yours .. hehe!

What you need:
Yellow Card Stock
Red Card Stock
Black Card Stock
White Card Stock
Craft Glue

I used the Circut to cut circles in the size I needed, play around with how big your area is.  I used the George Cartridge to spell out Happy Birthday, #, heart (for eyes), Circles for the words and for the one eye, circle cut in half for mouth, Oval with top cut off for tongue, < sign for a wink and rectangle for teeth.

I use a good craft glue to hold it all together. The PLAN was to use a hole punch and twin to string it up at the party! As you can see I didn't get that far .. lol.

Emoji Birthday Party ... Emoji Fruit Tray

Next on the Emoji Birthday was some fun food that kids would love and a little healthy! I saw this done with gumballs but I really didn't want wads of gum all over my parents waterfront or in someone's hair. So fruit it was, it may not be the yellow color we needed but you get the point!
What you Need:
Green Grapes (if you find a yellow fruit that will hold up use it)
Blueberries
Round dish
Start forming your face with grapes, fill in for eyes and mouth using the blueberries. There is no real science to this it's just an eyeball it kind of thing!

Emoji Birthday Theme .. Emoji Buckets (Chips, Popcorn etc)

Next on the Emoji Birthday was a bucket to hold the chips, popcorn etc. I love using sand pails for this at parties. They are simple to clean, cheap and hold a lot! I have these buckets from previous parties (the yellow I had from last years Minion party).
What You Need:
Yellow Sand Bucket (Dollar Tree $1)
Red Card Stock
Cricut (Used my George Cartridge for the Heart)
Hot Glue Gun
I was out of town until the day before the party so I had to make most of the things ahead of time and that of course was right before I had to leave for said work trip and the end of school. So I made a simple emoji face on the buckets. You can do more if you would like but I liked the simple heart eyes!
I cut the hearts on the Cricut and then used my hot glue gun to attach them to the buckets. Easy!!!

Emoji Themed Party .... Let's Get Emotional birthday invites

The next post is actually one of the first items I made for the party. I found several options for birthday invites, some free downloads but none I loved. I found several options on Etsy and one I loved was this Let's Get Emotional. Being the creative my own type person I am I decided I can make these.

A little play around in Word and BAM I got this! It probably took me an hour and to pay the $12 she was charging for the each one may be worth it .. lol.

I went to Word and created a new document, with the 5x7 size. I turned the background yellow and adding the wording. I went to Google and searched for the characters with .png so they would be translucent background. For the side way wording I added text box and used the side way words (make sure to use the no background and no outline with your text box). You can then move the text boxes around how you want them placed, I found this is the easiest way to get all the wording in. I used a free chalk font for the words.

Emoji's used:
Monkey - See No, Hear No & Speak No
Face w/ tongue
Heart Eyes
Laugh w/ tears
Sunglasses
Girl
Crown

Play around to find what you like the best. I printed on 5x7 photo paper I had, you can print on 5x7 card stock if you want. I'm a use what you have on hand kind of girl, and had the photo paper left over from a previous project.

Emoji Photo Booth Props

More on the Emoji themed party for my son. I LOVE to take photos so I'm always looking for ways to have people to have fun and let me photograph them. When this new theme of photo booths started to be come popular for weddings etc I can't tell you how excited I was! I've done different props at parties for the kids but this was the first time I made actual props on a stick for people to use! In my mind this would be HUGE, well kids don't always follow what I want to do but hey ... lol.
I found a Cricut Photo Booth Prop Cartridge on Amazon and made these fun props.

What You Need:
Cricut Photo Booth Prop Cartridge
Yellow Card Stock
Red Card Stock
White Card Stock
Black Card Stock
Purple Card Stock
Craft Glue
Hot Glue Gun
Bamboo Sticks

Use the cartridge to make the faces. I attached them with craft glue and let them sit and dry. I used my hot glue gun to attach the faces to the bamboo sticks. Let them dry and they are ready for the party!

Emoji themed Birthday Party ... Party Bags

I'm back! Well I've been here just this summer has ate up all my free time and sadly my blog is really suffering!

I had an Emoji themed party for my youngest right after school ended! As you all know I'm crazy about a theme! At first Caden picked Zelda and I almost died when I saw themed items for that. BUT then he changed to Emoji's and I was super excited! This was the coolest party and I LOVE LOVE all the fun things I got to make. I wish I took more pictures of the kids with all the emoji stuff!

As I have said over and over I hate passing out dollar tree crap to people that come in. I hate when that stuff comes home with my kids. I have gotten in the habit of making fun things for kids to take home, and you need something for the kids to take those things home in. So here comes the treat bags!

What you Need:
Black Card Stock
Yellow Card Stock
Red Card Stock
White Card Stock
Black Treat Bags
Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge
Cricut Cartridge
Tacky Glue

I used my Cricut to cut circles, hearts and sunglasses. I also used the George cartridge that came with my Cricut to make the mouth's using the moon option, Small circles and rectangles.

I made 4 different versions of the bags you can make more but I find to keep it simple and I don't go nuts! I made the sunglasses guy, surprise guy, heart eyes and the stern face! There are so many emoji's to choose from I just made the easy one's that I had shapes for on my machine.

Party Planning for Emoji Themed

With upcoming business trips and birthdays I'm trying to be ahead of the game and get some things done early. I head to Boston again June 16 (MY 40TH .. yes I'll be in the air on my bday). I return June 23rd and have Caden's party on June 25th! I'm trying to do things that can be made a head of time so I'm ready for the big day and not crushed when I fly back. Caden picked the theme of Emoji, so we sat together and went to Pinterest and pinned a bunch of ideas. We started working on perler bead designs for the treat bags.

Here is what we've done so far:
