Pokemon Ball (Oreo) Cookie Cupcakes

For Cole's class I wanted to bring some fun treats.  Cole's school has been very sweet and has allowed me to bring baked goods (usually they only allow store bought). I found several ideas on Pinterest to make Pokemon Ball's using Oreo Cookies.

What you Need:
Oreo Cookies
Frosted Cupcakes
Clear Cups (Optional)
Clear Bags (Optional)
Ribbon (Optional)

I made a batch of simple white cupcakes and then tinted a batch of my sturdy buttercream with Super Red AmeriColor Food Color

Then I started to make the Pokemon ball cookies. I first melted the red Wilton melts in the microwave. I melt mine in my pampered chef glass bowl for 2 minutes. I then dipped each Oreo cookie into the red melt (only dip half the cookie). Let the red dry, you can put in the fridge to help dry. Then I melted white Wilton melts in the microwave (same process) and then dipped each Oreo in the the white melt (only dip half the cookie). When the white dries you can then add the black line and circle of the Pokemon Ball. Now this is the 2nd time I've tried to melt the black and do perfect lines. YUP not so perfect, I'm still working on this part, if you know a better way let me know. I melted the black into a Wilton squeeze bottle and made the lines (I've also tried piping bags etc).

Since I was taking these to school I wanted a easy way to transport and hand out to the kids. I found this trick a few years back on Pinterest. Putting cupcakes into a clear cup and then put a clear bag and tie with ribbon. This is perfect for parties. I find the clear cups at the Dollar Tree 25 pack for $1 and then the clear bags also at Dollar Tree 25 pack for $1. I tie with ribbon also from the Dollar Tree a spool also $1.

Have a Great Day!

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Oreo Cookies

So I've seen these all over Pintrest and the web so I don't have ONE person to give the credit for.  If you were the brilliant person who came up with this idea, let me know and I'll make sure to give you credit, ok blogger police who leave comments on not giving credit.

Next on my list was some Rudolph Reindeer's for Cole's classroom friends!

What you Need:

Oreo Cookies
Light Brown Wilton Melts
Red Hots
Wilton Candy Eyes
Chocolate Covered Pretzels (Flips are easy)
Wilton Slotted Spoons

Microwave Wilton Melts, mine takes 2 minutes be careful NOT to burn them.  Place an oreo in the melted chocolate.  I LOVE my Wilton Candy Spoon with the slots makes gets all the extra chocolate off the cookies.  I found placing the chocolate covered pretzels on first.  I then added 2 candy eyes and added a red hot for the nose.

Place in the fridge to harden up.  I picked up a some bags at the dollar tree and off they went to school.

Mummy & Ghost Oreo Cookies

And for Caden's class I whipped up some easy Ghost and Mummies.  I loved how they came out!

What You Need:
Oreo Cookies (Orange Cream if you want)
Candy Melts - White (Almond Bark)
Black candy (or Black Modeling Chocolate)

Melt your candy melts in the microwave, mine takes about 1 1/2 minutes to melt nicely (be careful don't burn the chocolate ... done this many times).  Stir with a fork to make smooth. Dip your oreo in the chocolate make sure to cover top and bottom.  I take a fork to take them out and bang off any extra chocolate.  I then took a fork with some white melts to go back and forth to make the bandge look. I took some black modeling chocolate to make eyes and mouths (I did that for only the ghost).  Put in the fridge to hard up and put into treat bags to pass out (I picked mine up at the Dollar Tree).

Sweet Tooth Anyone? ... Oreo Stuffed Brownies

A while back I made these super yummy brownies with a surprise inside!  I found a recipe for Oreo Stuffed Brownies on Cook in The Books Blog. I found some peppermint Oreo cookies and a box of Hot Chocolate Brownie mix.  Usually I make my brownie's from scratch but I needed a quick dessert so I went with the box and the flavor was perfect.

Ingredients:
Brownie Mix (Homemade or Box)
Oreo Cookies
(Ingredients to make brownies)

Spray muffin tins well with cooking spray.
Mix up the brownies and drop in enough batter to cover the bottom.
Place oreo cookie on top of batter.
Cover with more batter.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 12-15 minutes.

My hot chocolate brownies had a marshmallow mix that I spread on top of each cupcake.  I also used cupcake liners instead of spraying with cooking spray.

Easter Treat ... Easter Chick Oreo's

Next on the list to make is for Cole's classmates.  I found these super cute Easter Chick Oreo Pops on About a Mom's Website.  Her's were on a lollipop stick, I did just the chicks to make it easier plus less mess for the teacher to have to pick up.

What You Need:
Oreos
Lollipop Sticks (optional)
Wilton Yellow Candy Melts (melted)
Orange heart shaped sprinkles (beak)
Orange flower shaped sprinkles (feet)
Yellow flower shaped sprinkles (hair)
Wilton Candy Eyes

Directions:
1. Carefully separate the Oreo, to insert the lollipop stick. Use a dab of  candy melts or frosting to secure the stick between the  2 cookie halves. Allow to set for a few minutes.

2. Dip the Oreo Pops into the candy melts, and carefully shake off any excess. Smooth a bit with the back of a spoon if needed.
3. While the coating is still soft, place 2 eyes onto the chick. Next, add 1 candy coated chip for the beak and 2 orange wild flower sprinkles near the bottom for the feet. Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and chill until chocolate coating is set.
ALEXIS NOTES: I skipped the lollipop stick and added a little yellow flower candy to the top of the chick to look like a little hair sticking up.

I found these really cute bags at the Dollar Tree.
That way the kid's can take it home if they want.

Oreo Spider Web Cookie Pizza

I was so excited to see on my doorstep Friday a box and then to open it to find baking goods. I won a giveaway on A Nut in a Nutshell.  The one catch was I needed to make one of the 3 recipes and send a picture that I did it.  So why not post a picture of what I did.  This recipe found on the Kraft website for a Oreo Spider Web Cookie Pizza. I was looking at the Candy Corn Cake but then the kids saw the pizza and they requested it, so on to plan B I went.

This was a super simple recipe to make the ONLY thing that was hard was making the circles for the web requires a steady hand, which I was not having luck with. So my web kind of looks like a drunk or high spider.  BUT hey the kids loved it no matter what and that is what matters most to me.

My Package & Cookie Pizza

I received the coolest package that had everything I needed (even a new apron for me ... AND get this I was actually able NOT only able to tie it but wrap it around and tie in front ... OH yeah baby ... onto the skinny me).

what you need
25
 Halloween OREO Cookies, divided
1/4
cup  butter or margarine, melted
1
oz.  BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
2
cups  thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, divided
1
pkg.  (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1
cup  cold milk
3
pieces  black string licorice (10 inch), cut into 1-1/4-inch pieces
6
small  round candies (I used Wilton's Candy Eyes)
1
Tbsp.  ready-to-spread frosting
2
Tbsp.  Halloween sprinkles

HEAT
oven to 350°F.
CRUSH 22 cookies to form fine crumbs; mix with butter. Press onto bottom of 12-inch pizza pan sprayed with cooking spray. Bake 4 min.; cool. (Alexis Note: I used a spring form pan to keep it all together and easier to travel with)
MEANWHILE, microwave semi-sweet chocolate and 1/2 cup COOL WHIP in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 30 to 40 sec. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 30 sec. Cool slightly.
BEAT pudding mix and milk in medium bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Stir in remaining COOL WHIP; spread onto crust to within 1/2 inch of edge.
SPOON chocolate mixture into resealable plastic bag; snip off small piece from one bottom corner of bag. Use to drizzle chocolate mixture in spiral motion over pizza. Gently drag toothpick through lines to resemble spider's web. Refrigerate 1 hour.
MEANWHILE, decorate remaining cookies with licorice pieces and candies as shown in photo, using frosting to secure pieces to cookies.
PLACE decorated cookies on pizza just before serving. Garnish with sprinkles.

This is a very simple recipe and one the kids loved!

A Sweet Treat "Apple Oreo Cookie"

I was a greeter at school for the new parents coming in for the first day of school.  I wanted to make something fun for the parents and teachers.  I found on Pinterest a recipe where they made apples using mini oreo's on a tooth pick on The Crafting Chicks site.  I wanted to use normal size and was going to use lollipop sticks but the oreo's won't stay together so I just made them with out sticks.  I forgot to take a picture the day after when the red had set up so this picture is a little redish orange (my friend said it looks like a tomato ... LOL).  Easy to make and what a fun treat to bring to school.

Ingredients:
  • Oreos (I used Full size
  • Wilton Red candy melts (I buy mine at Micheal's Craft Store)
  • Watermelon Airheads (for the leaves)
  • Pretzel sticks broken (for the stems)
  • Lollipop sticks if you can get them to work I skipped it.

I melted my red candy melts in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes (watch them you can burn chocolate I've done it before).  Stir the chocolate to make it smooth, once smooth put a oreo in and make sure it is covered.  White the chocolate is still wet take 1/2 of a broken pretzel in the top for the stem.  Working fast (or you can do this first) cut the watermelon airheads into squares and then form with your fingers into a leaf shape.  Stick next to the pretzel to look like a leaf coming out (if you need to dip the end into the red chocolate to make it stick on the top.  I put mine in the fridge but you can wait about 20 minutes and it will be dry and ready to serve.  If I was passing them out I would put them into their own cellophane bags with a ribbon at the top.

This would be fun for the end of the first week to give to the kids.  Yes I am planning to make something for the boys to take to school.
