Summer Camp Care Package in the Mail

Cole left for summer camp on Monday with our church.  He loves this week long adventure, it can be a little tight getting the money for it but I love to make it work for him.  We sent him off with his buddies and a few treats, but I love to be able to send him a surprise in the mail.  I sent him a care package last year (I just took a look at the post it got over 1100 hits, love to see that).  He loved that one and was asking if I would send another one ... I kept telling him if I can get the time (of course know I would but love to surprise him .. lol).

What you Need:
Homemade Cookies (I made Camp Cookies found on Summer 365)
Oreo's Cookies in can
Playing Cards
Fake Mustaches
Book
Silly String
Beef & Cheese Stick
Zombies
Science Make your own Snow
Candy & Candy Bars
Gum
Glow Sticks
Book (Comic style book)

I made up a quick batch of homemade cookies.  These cookies are freaking amazing (Yes I broke my diet and ate 3 it was a VERY bad day .. lol).  I then hit up the Dollar Tree and found some fun items to stuff in the box.  Pack it all up, if you're not running behind like me you can write fun things on it.  Add some tissue paper to make so it doesn't slip around, and tape it all up.  In the mail it goes!

Summer Time ... Summer Camp Care Package

As you may know from my last weeks post that Cole got to go to Summer Camp with our church.  It's a whole week, sleep over camp.  I was so excited he got to go this year, this was a tight year and the church waived part of the fee and let me break it up into payments.  So I dropped him off at the church with his bags.  I wanted to surprise him with something special, last year I sent a bunch of cards but this year I saw an idea for an idea for a Summer Camp Care Package on Knock-it-Off Crafts.

She had call me cards in hers and I wish I would have remembered to do this, totally spaced on that one!  But there will be next year!

What you need:
Playing Cards
Glow Sticks
Chips
Licorice
Gum
Disposable Camera
Pix Sticks (Whatever Canndy you want)
Magazine or Comic Book or Mad libs (I put Phineas & Ferb Mag)
Games (Mine had Checkers, Old Maid, Bible Triva)
Cookies (I made some homemade cookies and boxed them up)

Put them in a cute cupcake box!

I put everything in a USPS medium box that as long as it fit it ships for $11!  I decorated the inside with a fun message and sent it in the mail for a surprise for him.  I wish I could have a picture of his face when he opened this.

Leaving on a bus ... Camp Stache

Monday AM I got the boys up early, we dropped Caden off at the boys and girls club and went to meet up the youth group at church.  Cole is so excited this is the 2nd year he gets to go to the Kidz Camp with our youth group at church.  They leave on Monday and don't return until Friday!

We were so blessed this year was a tight year and they gave him a scholarship so I was able to pay a reduced rate.  Monday I dropped him off at the church, were we registered and he left on a bus with all the kids.  This year it's called Camp Stache so all the kids got mustache's!  He received his care package yesterday, I'm so excited to hear all about camp and if the package was a hit.  More to come I'm sure!

Leaving on a Bus ....

Cole is off for a whole week, yes that is overnights also!  We took him to the church yesterday morning.  We got in the very long check out long, which much to Rick's mumbling went very fast and loaded him on the bus!  He was so excited to be going, I was so happy since last year when I tried to do a day camp the first day he actually ran back to the car several times making Rick have to take him back home.  This year he got on the bus and that was the end of it!

The day before we hit up Target got a few snacks and things that we need.  We then came home and packed until I thought I could pack no more.  5 of everything sure does and up quickly.  With some tugging and pulling we were able to close the bag.

I did get a few fun pictures of him being dropped off, wish I gave him a disposable camera to take pictures (Note for next year).  It was a very quiet night here, But little Caden keeps telling me he misses him :(.  We sent him cards yesterday that should arrive today.  Caden did his own card and drew a picture of him and Cole, and told me so he would remember him.

VBS to the Resue ... No "Calgon take away" but this sure will!!

As most of you know I work from home so the summers get a little hairy, or should I say eye rolling and pulling of hair (and Heck that is just me, we don't want to even go into what the boys are doing).  I wait every summer for VBS season to come around.  I can't believe I missed the last one of June, I really almost cried we missed a week.  I LOVE the boys get to have a fun adventure and that I get to have peace and quiet to make calls.

1st week of July with the 4th meant no VBS sch, so we had to wait for last week for our first week!  It was fab it was really close to the house and the boys loved the VBS being about Aviation this year (each year there is a new theme and most Church's go with it).  This week is a Lutheran church down the road it's a little further but a few of the kids from Cole's school was there since his school is a Lutheran school.  We have 3 more weeks of VBS.  This mom is doing some cartwheels ... ok if I could get my butt up over my head I would!  Thank you to all the wonderful churches that put on these VBS's and I plan to bring in canned goods or donations whatever it is!  Whoo HOO!

Oh and in two weeks Cole will be going to a WHOLE week stay over night with our church.  I'm so freaking excited for him, and maybe a little jealous of not going when I was young.  He is going to have such a blast!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, I hope to finally clean my house since we have no parties this weekend.  Lord be with me this place is looking scary.  Cinderella has returned to take care of the duties ... lol.

For my SANITY can I budget Summer Camp?

You know when I was young I always wanted to go to camp to have that fun summer experience but I never did get to go.  This year I found out that our church Life Center is offer a Kidworks summer camp called Lifted for Grades 3 to 6.  It would be a FULL week over night and all!  I’m so excited, I mean Cole should be so excited to have a big boy experience.  It’s not too far from the house and they have a full packet week of activities for the kids.  I think it would be such a learning and great experience to last a life time.  Now to figure out how to pay for it! I mean you think of it $250 for a whole week is really not that bad BUT with only me working a full time job can I swing it.

THEN I think of the peace and quiet I would get and that they may not have to lock me in a padded room by the end of this summer.  Payment is due here next week, I think I’ll have to work around some things maybe pay a few things in the grace period but oh I think I so have to do it.

Did any of you do summer camp?  What was your experience?
