Phewey Washer Machine

Lately my washer machine has been washing the clothes but I swear they had a little smell to them.  I goggled different ways to clean the machines.  I wanted to see a pictures (I'm on the visual side) so I also hit up Pinterest to see what I could find.  I came across a post about cleaning your top loading machine that was on the site One Good thing by Jillee. She had a great post on how to do it.  So I set out on cleaning my machine and I must say it was pretty easy and it came out smelling great and now the clothes after being washed don't have that funny smell as before, so I say it was a score!

What you need:

Top LoadingWasher Machine - of course lol

1 Quart Chlorine Bleach

1 Quart Distilled White Vinegar

Cup to Measure & Pour

HOT Water

Fill machine with HOT water (mine has the button hot/cold).  Add in Bleach (JUST bleach no detergent) let the machine agitate for a minute, then close the lid push the button in and let it SIT for one hour.  I found if you shut the lid nothing falls into the bleach water :).

After one hour, allow the machine to run threw the longest cycle (I put mine on super). Immediately fill with HOT water again and add the vinegar.  Same again let agitate for a minute, then close the lid push the button in and let it SIT for one hour.  Again I closed the lid and shut it down so my boys would think it would be fun to throw things in to the water :).

I did like she suggested and took apart things I could and cleaned them (yuck that was bad).  She suggest you do this ever 3 months, I'll try to keep it up but it sure is nice to have laundry come out smelling good or at least better then it did when I put it in there.  With 2 boys it is always dicey around here!

For us who don't have the fancy washer machines just the old school top loading ones here you go.  I like to think if I take care of it, it may last as long as that microwave my dad passed down to me from the 70's ... What it is a dream ... lol!

Shark Party is on! First comes the Invite!

As those of you who know me and have followed for sometime know I go a little nutty with my themes!  Hey what can I say I love to have a theme to run with (ok I don't litteraly run I'm still in the walk stage in life but for other things I take it and go with it).  I just love having a fun party that my kids and hopefully the kids that attend will remember.  So early we did the Lego party for Cole, this upcoming week is Caden's 5th birthday.  The theme he picked out is Sharks!  You would think sharks would be easy, but trying to find silicone molds has been on the impossible side.  So I'm probably not able to do the crayons I was wanting to do but I can make some candies, the cake, fun things to snack on and of course I can make invites!

I of course went to my resource Pinterest to see what I could locate. I found a site that had super cute shark invites, her friend designed them so there were no instructions on how to make them.  So I printed a photo and made my own mark up of how to do it.  I took my template I made and using my awesome 3 in 1 printer photo copied it right on to my paper.  That way I could print them and then cut them and then glue everything together until my fingers stuck together!

I took my template and put into a google documents so if any of you want to make it you can go HERE for Head and Bottom and HERE for mouth and print out like I did!

What you Need:

Grey Card Stock (for shark head & body)

Red Card Stock (for mouth)

White Card Stock (Teeth & for the invite that has the info on it)

Blue Card Stock (for the invite that has date, time etc on it)

Scissors / Also the E-Acto zig zag scissors for the teeth marks

Glue Sticks

Google Eyes

Black Sharpie (Inside of mouth and eye brows)

For the shark print the template cut out the bottom half gets teeth and the red attached.  I also wrote inside "Caden's 5th Birthday - Come or be Shark Bait".  Fold the red in half glue on teeth and the top of the shark head.  I'm including a picture below click on it to enlarge and you can see the step by step.  I also made up and insert using word, clip art shark with the info for the party.  If you would like this msg me and I'll email it to you.  When I tried to save in google docs it kept moving everything around.

There you have it we begin the shark domination at my house!

Happy 4th of July! Goodies done, Lake here I come!

Well I'm heading up to my parents lake front to enjoy the sun and of course the fireworks!  It's going to be fun this year, the last few years it has been very low key.  This year will be too but we have some great friends coming to hang out too!  I'm so excited to enjoy the day with friends.


I whipped up a few items to share!  First off was some simple jello shots in a star shape, I used the recipe from my post here.

Next was to make firecracker cookies I saw on Pinterest (click on the title for the recipe, sorry it wouldn't let me copy and paste for her site).

And last was some red velvet cake pops.  I made Paula Deens red velvet cake mix from the food network.  I then put the mix in my cake pop pan and bam it was ready to go!  I melted some almond bark dipped the cake pops in and sprinkled with blue sprinkles.  Next time I'll use Wilton Melts they just work better and are smoother finish.

Sweet 16 - New Driver Survival Kit

I was invited to a sweet 16 party this past weekend for such a sweet girl.  I've known here since she first came into the world (crap I'm getting old) she was even the flower girl at my wedding almost 9 years ago!  I wanted to do something special for her.  I was looking threw pinterest and saw an idea for a emergency kit for your car on Rips in My Jeans.   I took her idea and tweaked it a bit to fit what I was needing (aka I took out the diaper and wipe part since this young lady is NO WHERE near having a child (You hear that girlie?).

I went to Walmart and loaded up!

I took this great bin (in the college get ready for school section).  Arranged the items inside and pinned the 2 $5 Bills to the side.  I then went to my Cricut machine to make a cute sign.  You could do this by hand but I think it added a little something using my machine layering 2 colors and then added the letters to spell out "New Driver Kit".  I even added a few little flowers for my former flower girl!  It took me less than 10 minutes to put together but it turned out so cute and it was the perfect size to be put in our car for all those moments when you may just need it.

4th of July Surprise in the Mail!

I love to do something special for my bosses and their kids for the holidays.  I thought it would be fun to put together a box of goodies for the 4th of July.  I saw a version on Sometimes Creative's Blog of a box of goodies and ran with it.

I hit up the dollar store for some of the items and Target for the other.  It is very easy to put together you could mail it or heck you could even leave it on your friends doorstep for a nice surprise.
