Halloween Munch Mix & Surprise Mailer

For the holidays I like to send a little surprise in the mail to my bosses and their kids.  I wanted to make something quick and easy to get right out to them.  I found a recipe for Halloween Munch Mix on Mommy's Kitchen that I tweaked and tada we were ready to go.  Every holiday the dollar store has the cutest containers.  I find they are the perfect size for mixes and other fun things!  I picked up some candies and decorated the box all up for it to be shipped out.

I love something in the mail and I think this is just perfect!  The mix was simple to make and I had enough to make up a few bags for the boys teachers.

Here' is my version of the mix:

Halloween Munch Mix
1- bag of Orange Candy Melts (I used instead instead of almond bark)

4-5 Cups Popped Popcorn (Make yourself or 2 bags of Microwave)

1 Cup of Candy Corn (I picked up in bulk section)

1 Cup Chocolate Covered Pretzels w/ orange frosting (Bulk Section)

1 Cup Halloween Mix Candy (Bulk Section)

Plastic Spiders if you want

Pop the popcorn and remove any UN popped kernels (I used the air pop microwave version, see my recipe here). Place pop corn in a large bowl and set aside. Add the chocolate melts to a microwavable bowl and melt in your microwave (remember you CAN burn chocolate I've done it before do in 1 minute intervals).  I used orange melts to be festive but you can always use white melts or just the almond bark.  BUT I say it's best to make it match the holiday!

Using a large spoon mix together coating all of the popcorn. Lay out the popcorn on a piece of waxed paper until pop corn is dry. When dry break into smaller popcorn size pieces and add back to a large bowl.

Mix in the candies of your choice and place popcorn mixture into individual treat bags (You can also add a few plastic spiders to each bag if you want, I have a thing out non editable items in food so I skipped that). You can also add the popcorn to clear food service gloves for a fun Halloween treat.  I did the mini bags and the containers I found at the dollar store.

Then I made up a surprise mailer to send off to my bosses.  I added some containers and some loose candy to be a nice surprise the open up.

This is a fun treat to make for friends or teachers!

4th of July Surprise in the Mail!

I love to do something special for my bosses and their kids for the holidays.  I thought it would be fun to put together a box of goodies for the 4th of July.  I saw a version on Sometimes Creative's Blog of a box of goodies and ran with it.

I hit up the dollar store for some of the items and Target for the other.  It is very easy to put together you could mail it or heck you could even leave it on your friends doorstep for a nice surprise.

I picked up a box from USPS (if hand delivering you could use a normal box)

Garland with Red, White and Blue Stars

Add some fun flair with a Blue and Red Pen to the inside of the box for a nice pop of color and surprise when you open the box.

Happy Early 4th of July!  Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  Since the 4th lands on a Wednesday this year it's going to be a weird week work 2 days then off one and then back to work.  Sadly no sleep for this girl.

I'm Weak! I gave in for a new coffee maker.

A little back story =D. As many of you know Rick works 3 jobs (1 Full + 2 Part Time). He doesn't have many actual days off and when he's home and awake the kids are going to bed or just getting up ready to leave. Most of the daily routine falls on mom, which I have taken on and most days it's just life. Now of course I would love a day out with friends. I'm not a big go out to the club girl but just hanging with friends would be fun for me! Rick doesn't usually have weekends off and if he does I work Saturday AM and Saturday PM so both weekend nights are pretty much shot for me.

Now Rick doesn't go out often but he does get to hang with friends every once in a while along with he bounces at a bar so he gets the whole going out vibe. He's days off usually land during the week so he can go out with the guys. Which I don't hate but of course I little jealous and would love to go out too! Heck I would love to go on a date! So I was having a day the other night and he got to go out to a hockey game and out to play pool I was in a pissy mood and let him know it. Again NOT upset that he got to go out just pissy that I'm always in mommy mode and no me time.

So how to get me out of my pissy mood, yup you bribe me with coffee! And even better a coffee maker I asked for Christmas but didn't get do to getting the boys the dog. So YES I'm weak and sold out for a coffee maker ... lol. Not as good as going out but hey I do get some nice coffee for the AM =)!
