Fun day to a dissapointment

Today I got the kids ready with full intentions of going to the farmers market. Well it was closed again, it's just not my weekend is it? We head up to my parents house and just as I turn on the blinker to head up their street mom calls to say they're not home. Ugh ... Ok sorry kids but we'll have to go shopping I need things to make a towel cake for a wedding shower next weekend. After much groans that this time didn't come from me (the boys this time) we made it thru the store. I just finished order the boys some chicken nuggets ... ok a sandwich for me too, when mom called to say they are home and lunch is ready. Ugh ... again, what is it with my luck?

Today was a fun day I hope for the boys. Dad was so sweet and took the boys out to pick blueberries. He then took them down to the waterfront to ride in the paddle boat and even took Roy out on the jet ski again. Mom made a wonderful dinner. When I went back into the kitchen she even had the towel cake completely decorated. Wow is all I can say my parents made today one of my best days.

Here are some great pictures of our visit at my parents house:

Our Towel Cake for the Wedding Shower ~

Well since I'm on cloud 9 with my day, I should have known the other shoe would drop soon! I got a call from the host coordinator. I guess we have a few more items that is not working out. Since I have to pick all boys up after school and most times I need to grocery shop, this makes for a long drive home that our student doesn't care for. I'm not sure how else I can work this I have to work and still take care of my kids, they do come first and we want our student to feel like part of the home. I'm not sure how I can make the drive seem not as long, but as Tim Gunn says "Make it Work" and I guess I just have to do that. So my happiness went back down and once I told Rick he was in such a great mood. Geez, one day I'm going to please everyone or hey I might just be the one who is running away. LOL

My most relaxed Saturday ...

Today I'm proud to say I did as little as possible. Well let's start with today was the day I was to start Direct TV, part of the bundle package thru Qwest. Yup another disappointment, he gets her starts telling me I'm going to have to pay for install? What that is part of the package, no it isn't. Then he informed me no the DVR doesn't work in two rooms like you were told. Then he calls customer services, they say yes it can. He then goes back out to his car and talks to his supervisor and comes back in to say no it won't work. WTF? He then tells me I would need a 2nd DVR for $99. Really I now I get all the crap, but I know I don't have stupid wrote on my forhead! So I tell him no I don't won't the services, he then says well we could do the DVR in two rooms but it will cost you? Ok now I know I really don't want your services with in your 1/2 hour visit you've switched on me 3 times! Then he tells me the reason I was told that is because some of these guys work for Dish and Direct, then they need to make sure to have the info correct! I was so over it, so he leaves and guess what he woke the baby up and left all the furniture that he moved out. Yup I tried to move the tower back for the front room and it wouldn't budge, either would the dresser in the kids room. I'm starting to believe I was a bad person in a past life and I'm now paying for it.

Well after thinking that I need some serious space before I go crazy. I took the kids outside, I got the impression that playing around outside wasn't fun for Roy. He was giving me the same look Cole gives me when I try to take him grocery shopping. Fine I hear that look loud and clear, off to the library we go. A quick trip to Target for popcorn, hey I get to walk and the boys munch on popcorn. After a while I start getting the look for the older boys and figure my time is up and soon the pumpkin will appear and my clothes will go back to rags. Oh wait ... that is what it already is, so much for the fairy godmother.

So back to the house with wound up grumpy kids, I guess I could take them somewhere but I'm so tired from this week that I'm just heading home. Maybe if I click my heels, oh wait yet another fairytale. Back to reality!

I think I need a vacation

Is it Friday yet?

Today started with a request for me to drive to Seattle to deliver some drawings, no problem it's early it shouldn't be any problem. This is where Murphy's law comes into effect, I really think it may have been created just to explain the items that go on in my life. By 11:30 I'm pacing around because I know how traffic gets later on a Friday. I think I may be making them nervous, good since I'll be the one in a car all night long. Finally a little around 1:20PM they give me the go ahead to leave. Here's the Murphy's law the vehicle I was going to use is gone, so it's my car to the rescue. On a plus side the mileage reimbursement is up to 58 cents, so at least that will cover my gas up there.

Hop in the car and look down of course old pal Murphy keeps striking today! No gas, I must run back in the office and borrow the Costco card. Well I guess I should call dad since he's watching Caden and I probably won't be able to be home by 4:30pm like I was planning. He would like to get some items done so will I wait for the gas line he heads my way to give me Caden. Thanks to my wonderful husband who calls to remind me I can use the carpool lane now that Caden is with me! What a genius that can maybe help me get there and back a little quicker. So I'm off to Seattle of course the traffic isn't too bad getting there, it's the going home that will suck. Being the multi-tasker that I am I call Qwest to find out why my Internet isn't her like promised. After being told oh so nicely that it looks like something happened and now it won't be available until the 10th!!! WTF ... I was promised it would be up and running by today. After getting no where with the girl I asked to talk to a manager of course she informed me that she already talked to a manager and this is all they can say. REALLY did I ask you what she would say, no I asked to talk to her now put her on the phone! Finally the manager comes on the line and really isn't much help and doesn't want to help. So after raising my voice of such a little bit I reminder her I've been a loyal customer for over 15 years and should receive better customer service then this! After her giving me oh so much attitude she puts on the Loyal Customer Service who gives me 1/2 off 3 months but still can't get me the Internet. So here I am with out Internet to do my 2nd job yet again for a 3rd week in a row. I am the most flaky person they have, really I can't handle this I've never been a no show or a call the day off to cancel. In all the time I've been working the only time I've called in is when I was very sick or with sick kids. I have no real excuse here except my stupid computer died 2 weeks in a row and then hey why not have my Internet die the 3rd week.

I get out of the parking garage get a message from my boss asking if I could do one more stop! Yikes I'm now just leaving Seattle and I'm literally sitting in traffic not moving and I need to make it to the next place in 45 minutes before they close the doors. Well since I'm just sitting there I guess I try to figure out a plan B. I give my dear and good friend Anngie a call to ask or beg if I could borrow her laptop for the weekend. She's such a great person even though she's been worried about her non-anti virus and still was a sweetie and let me borrow it. Since my next stop is in Auburn I can swing by and pick it up also. I also start on plan C, hey I may be in this traffic until it's time for the next job to start why not work all angles. I call around and find out how much a wireless card would be for Rick's computer since he lost his. Wal-mart of course has the best deal and hey they're in Auburn also, I'm making this a full service trip! I finally start moving and make it to the place with 30 seconds to spare, the lady even had her coat on ready to roll out! Phew I can make it to Wal-Mart pick up the wireless card, and meet Anngie to borrow her laptop as a back-up also.

I get back on the freeway to get stuck right in the mix of Friday Afternoon traffic, I think I see a car I passed before I got to Auburn. Really I don't think the line has moved! The sea parts and I'm booking, you know doing 25 miles an hour it's great. Moving pretty good and then guess what I hit Fair traffic, WTF. I have a sign on me to just give me all the crap? I give the other host family a call to polity tell them I'm going to be a 1/2 hour late. I make the rounds and pick the boys up and head home.

You know with the 2 back-ups you would think I would be set for the 2nd job. Well that is where you forget who's life we are talking about. Yup it's my life and I install all the software and get Rick's machine up and running, phew I don't have to use Anngie's machine. I take about 3 calls and guess what, yup it disconnects me. I reconnect take another 2 calls and it does it again. Grrr .... I reconnect and don't even get all the way back on the site before it does it again. Well the 4th time and I IM my boss and let her know what's going on, she tells me to disconnect. Yup I'm scoring big brownie points. I try logging onto Anngie's machine, nope I can't get any connection. So it looks like I'm off for another night. Just a great side note it took me until Saturday to finish this post with all this great disconnecting.

This is too funny ...

I just had to do a quick post of this site that was on Dawn's blog (mom2my6pack) you have to check it out. Love this website, enjoy hope to see some of your pictures! Lex

And the race continues ...

Really I think I do my best when I'm running, now only if all this running around would help loose weight. Now if I could figure that out we would be a head of the game! Yet another fun morning of 3 stops before I can get to work. Today was review day at work, do you ever feel like your having the "talk" with your parents when you have to go into a close door meeting with your boss. I get so nervous, start biting my lip and fidget like I'm a kid. I feel like I'm talking to my dad telling him I got all A's and he's giving me the look and saying you could have done better. I'm sure there is some Froidism in there, that I'm sure I don't want to know the answer. Well you take the good and the bad and work forward. Good news the proposal I did 2 weeks ago all by myself was short listed! Which is amazing since everyone here didn't really want or think we could get the job, let alone no one helping me do the proposal the hopes were VERY low I could even get anything that looked nice. I'm happy to say my first solo attempt has blown people away, let's keep the ball rolling!

Since my life is not crazy enough I found a toy box on craigslist that I just had to go pick up today. Well the address in Puyallup turned out to be out in the boondocks, it took almost 40 in heavy traffic to get there. Yup the $20 toy box was oh so worth the gas ... LOL. Sometimes my logic is totally off whack! So of course this is the same night the host people are coming to visit, I call and let them know we'll be late. The traffic actually wasn't bad at all on the way home so we actually made it home only 5 minutes after the time they were suppose to be there. We walk in the door to the wonderful smells of my pork roast, have I told you how much I love my crock pot! It had to be a busy mom that created it, because it's a life saver! We were able to sit down and eat, Roy even had seconds keeping this recipe! Oh wait it's one I made up in my head, maybe I should write it down, nah I won't forget it right? I even had time to do the dishes and wash the toy box before the host people came! Score I'm so on top of it! We survived the visit and think we're doing well!

Rick came home and took the boys to the store to pick up a few things. Leaving me and Caden to hang out, wow I don't know what to do when it's so quiet in the house. I think I'll turn the TV on loud to make it feel normal around here! Well today was a pretty good day minus the lessons of the day :). I'm rolling on and hey I even got the crock pot washed, now that is a gold star moment if I ever saw one! Tomorrow should be fun only 2 stops in the morning, Grandma is taking the day off and Dad is coming to stay with Caden. Oh boy cross your fingers he doesn't scream all day. Can't wait for this anxiety stage is over! Also cross your fingers my new Internet comes tomorrow, still hasn't arrived and I need to do my second job tomorrow before they get really upset with me!

Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Engines ...

Have you every seen that lady comic that does the mom song?

That is how I felt today. First we get up and running get the everyone dressed and ready for the day ahead. I pack lunches and of course make sure my coffee was poured and pulsing thru my veins before I even attempted to drive a car. We hope in the car and thankfully no one is crying, maybe whining but no actually crying. First stop drop Cole off at daycare/PreK, run his backpack to his cubby on the other end of the school, sign him in and give him a quick hug and kiss. Hop back in the car and drop Caden off at Grandma Pats, give him a quick kiss and wave hi to grandma. Hop back in the car and drop Roy off at the other host families house, thank them again for letting him come over before school. Flip the car around and head to work, phew all in 35 minutes, I think that may be a record! OMG I wish I could take a nap is all I could think, maybe 1 or 2 more cups of coffee.

After the 3 ok 4th cup of coffee I'm feeling half way normal and trying to find my desk. You take one day off and it takes almost a week to recover. It's like taking vacation and when you come back you have so much laundry it's like you need another vacation. Well the lesson of today is even though you're asked to do something find a price and give people the option, yet another thing to add to my list of growing items. After my little learning experience the day went rather fast, tomorrow we'll be a crazy day I'm sure.

And the race begins all over again. I pick Roy up, we stop by the grocery store yet again to pick up some items for this cake I need to make for school. I get in there grab a few items and look down crap I forgot my cloth bag, that's ok I think I will only need one plastic bag I can use it for dirty diapers. Don't you just love how my mind goes back to excuses not to use the cloth bags, at least this time I didn't just buy another one. I'm soon going to end up with the same amount of cloth bags as the plastic bags that are taking up a side of my pantry. One day they come in handy! So I'm in the cake isle, you would think they have a red velvet mix but no they don't. Thankfully I printed out a recipe earlier in the day, well that would help if I would have put it in my purse instead of sitting on my desk! Geez, I look at the time 5:10 everyone is gone from the office. Thinking hat on ... I can call Anng and ask her to Google a recipe for me. I think she was going to pee her pants laughing at me, yup I know I'm a dork. So she gives me a list and oh yeah can you give me the baking instructions since I don't have Internet yet at home. I go down picking up the items, then I look at what all I have to buy and the time it is going to take to do this. By this time it's almost 5:30 and I need to pick Cole up at 6pm or they charge per minute. Oh crap grab 2 boxes of scone mix and some raspberry jelly and call it good.

Back in the car run over to pick Caden up, barely have time to say hi to Grandma or to pay her, geez have to do that in the morning. Hop in the car yet again and race over to Cole's daycare. I had a vision in my mind of Cole sitting there at almost 6pm by himself. I arrive at 5:52 (hey 8 minutes to spare) and there is a bunch of kids, phew I'm not the only one. We drive home, Cole and Roy crash and Caden helps in the kitchen. You know by holding onto the back of my pants while I try to move from the fridge to the stove! Finally I grab a banana and put him in his highchair so I can get a little something done. Get dinner done and Tarra and her daughter Khari show up. We had a great meal and it was so nice to have adult conversation and the kids actually didn't scream too loud.

Bath time and finally a little mommy time I sit down at watch Project Runway and think phew I'm done. Then my brain kicks in and reminds me, HELLO you need to make scones! So I get up and start making scones, Cole of course isn't a sleep in sneaks into the kitchen. Fine you watch and then it's bed time! I think I might be done around 11pm and then we'll do it all again tomorrow!
