Some-"Bunny" Needs Coffee Gift

Another fun gift made for my boss a while back for her birthday was this fun coffee gift. I love doing fun gifts as you know, and I wanted to send her a Starbucks gift card but not just a plain one in a envelope so I went to pinterest and found a link to this fun Bunny Kisses made by Split Coast Stampers. Now they used stamps to cut out the face, I used my Cricut. I used my George Cartridge that came with my machine. I must say this cartridge I use ALL the time!

What you need:

White Heavy Card Stock

Pink Card Stock

Brown Card Stock

Black Sharpie

Brown makeup  (I used to antique the paper)

Pink Blush (for the blush of course)

Cotton Ball to put makeup on the paper

Craft Glue

White Paper Coffee Cup (found at Target, next to paper plates)

Ribbon (I did a thinker and a smaller one)

I used the flower to cut out the white for the face (I used the grey one below). I printed a large one and then a medium one to make the face. For the nose I printed the heart (the grey one below) in pink. For the ears I printed the oval (grey above the E). Using my black sharpie I drew on the white paper to make eye's closed with lashes and a mouth. I drew a line and dashes for the ears (glued the ears between the large and medium white to hold them on. I attached the face when I was done to the coffee cup with my craft glue. I tied a bow and attached with hot glue to the face (I needed something a little stronger then craft glue). 

Now this was an extra that I added. I wanted to attach the gift card to the cup. I printed the label on heavy white card stock from my cricut (grey above the K) it prints like a Christmas label with a hole for you. Then I used brown card stock and printed Birthday Blessings (bottom left next to Sift lock). I glued it onto the label and then I took a whole punch and attached with ribbon the label and gift card (had to whole punch that to make it hang).

It took about 20 minutes but it was so cute I went on the search and made these Bunny Coffee Cups for the boys teachers also! Worth the time to see a smile :).

Weekend To do ... My list

It's going to be a busy weekend yet again!  We have swim lesson's, basketball practice and basketball game too!  We still have a science project to finish and I have 2 birthday gifts I must finish too.  Oh lord wish me luck .. lol as usual so many plates spinning.  Thankfully I've enlisted the tutor to come in Saturday to help finish up the science project.

Unique Gift Time ... Slumber Party Kit (Girl Birthday Gift)

The 2nd gift I made fort the 2nd birthday party (It was a party for a brother and sister).  The brother got the Fort Kit.  For her I knew her mom was going to be a slumber party with her cousins.  So I thought why not make up a basket for her slumber party.  

It was a simple one to make but very cute and a hit with the girls!

What You Need:

Themed Gift Idea ... Craft Birthday Gift Bag

We attended a birthday party a few weeks back and I wanted to do something fun for the little one.  I thought what better then a craft bag of fun things to make and do with mom and dad.  The party was at a pumpkin patch, so I went with a Halloween themed bag but this can  be done with any theme or just a fun bunch of different crafts.

What you Need:

Personal Gift Idea .... RELAX Gift Basket

Getting close to the holidays I'm going to show off some fun personal gift ideas you can make for the holidays, birthdays or a just because gift!  This is a fun gift that was easy to put together for Cole's Teacher for her birthday.  It cost around $20 to make and was a priceless gift I must say so ... lol.

I found this RELAX gift idea with FREE printable on Little Miss Suzy Q's site.  She had it listed great so it was easy to buy for and put together. 

Here is what she had listed:

Read- Book, reading glasses ,book light, gift card to a favorite bookstore.

Enjoy-chocolate, favorite candy bar, CD, DVD, I did Cutler's cookies (if you live in Davis County, you know why).

I picked up most of these items at the Dollar Tree.  I found a bin that could fit it all in and then medium sized bags and tied with matching ribbon to the color of the letter template she gave as a free printable.  I punched a hole in each letter and tied with the coordinating ribbon to the color of the letter.

I got a very sweet thank you card from Cole's teacher.

This was very simple!

Girls Just Want to have FUN ... Youth & Tween Girl Birthday Gift

As most of you have figured out by now I'm a HUGE fan of giving a gift in a basket.  One of my besties daughters were having a birthday party together (she does this every year).  I must say I have been known to give them a combined gift.  I just couldn't do that this time since they are getting older.  So I thought why not cool gift's in a basket.

For the Tween Gift I found some of what I thought to be the best and favorite things.

I put a little tissue paper in the basket and then filled it with all the fun items.  She is really into Soccer so I found a soccer ball at Micheal;s and letters to spell her name.  I used my favorite item the Glue Gun and hot glued it all on!  It was a simple but super fun gift!!

For the Youth Gift I wanted to switch it up a little so her basket had a few different items

Then Comes Baby's 1st Birthday .... Onesie Ice Cream Milkshake Gift

A friend from high school little girl was having her first birthday.  You know me I hate bringing some generic gift especially when they are so little they don't really need a room full of toys but they do need clothes. But how boring is it to just wrap up clothes.  So on the Google search I went.  I came across several different ideas but I love the of something playful.  I saw a Ice Cream tutorial on Create it. Go!  I thought why not take this idea and then make it a Milkshake instead of ice cream (partly because I found cute cups and had to do some quick thinking).

What You Need:

Onesie's (3 pack at Walmart $6.97)

Milkshake Cups (4 Pack at Walmart Clearance $1)

Straws (50 Pack at Walmart $2.97)

Tissue Paper (Dollar Tree $1) - Could use Tule

Toothpick w/ Jewel (Walmart 12 pack $2.97 Clearance)

• Take your onesie and fold it in half long ways (I bought prints so they would show either way I folded).  
• Then fold it in half a 2nd time long ways (see picture below for step by step).  Start rolling the toothpick into the onesie (I accidentally skipped this step and put in the end it still worked).  
• As you continue to roll the onesie, layer the rolls, so that you can see each layer and so that the onesie, starts to get taller. (Make it look like a rose bud, at least that is what I thought). I tied the onsie with a ribbon, found it was easier and if they fell out then it was easy to fix (and yes I got lost going to the place and had to do several U-turns and let's just say it wasn't pretty when I grabbed the basket out of the back of car, so I had to repair).  
• You can use a square piece of tulle or do like I did I stuffed the cup first with the tissue paper then when it was the right height to put the onsie in and still have it peak out over the top, I wrapped in tissue paper. I just kind of fluffed it around to look like a foam of a fancy root beer float ... Yes I have a great imagination.  
• Pop the onsie roll into the cup, make sure it is sticking up so they see the rose bud of the onsie and the jeweled toothpick (like the Cherry on top).  
• I added a  straw to top off the Milkshake theme.  I did 3 of them in blue and 3 in red (they were having a red, white and blue themed party).  
• I added this to a plastic basket with red, white and blue tissue paper.

This turned out so cute I must say I was pretty darn impressed with myself.  It was a special gift that wasn't too expensive to do.  I may have to even give this a shot for another 1st birthday ... hmmm I may have a PG friend that could use this when she has a 1 year old!

Summer Time .. Too Hot for Coffee - Try it in Lotion or a Scrub

Oh Coffee how I miss thee .. I'm on Week 3 of my new diet and no coffee, yes I think I may die (just joking).  My amazing women's group leader at church had a birthday last week.  She is a Starbucks junky.  I wanted to do something fun for her birthday.  I have already made her the Coffee Lover's Gift (see picture at bottom of post with link) as a thank you gift for all she does for our group.  I then came across a really cool idea to make a Coffee Scrub and a Coffee Lotion on The Cheapskate Mom's Website. 

Super easy to make and I think it turned out GREAT and as you may know by now I'm all about the unique gift that you had to put thought into and swear this had all those check marks!

First I made the Coffee Scrub

What you need:

A Cup & Lid (I went to Starbucks and asked for gave to me for free)

1 1/2 Cups of Coffee Grinds

1/2 Cup Salt

3 tbs body Oil (I used Baby Oil / Mine was more like 6 Tbs)

Pour coffee in cup, add salt and body oil.  I found it was easier to put in a large mixing bowl then add back to the cup.  I didn't want anything to come out the straw hole on the lid so I took a little hot glue to the top and bottom of the hole. 

Next I made the Coffee Lotion

What you Need:

Cup with Lid (Again Starbucks gave to me for free)

Lotion (I bought plain but couldn't find so used a scented one)

6 Tbs Strong Coffee (I used a little too much and it was be watery)

Pump (I went to dollar Tree bought a soap and then used the pump only)

Brew a strong cup of coffee, let it cool.  I found it easier to put the lotion and coffee in a mixing bowl to mix then to add to the Starbucks cup.  Make sure it is mixed well.  Insert the pump into the hole in the lid.  I took my hot glue gun to glue the pump down to the lid.

This was a very simple gift to make but perfect for that coffee lover in your life.

Celebrating My 37th Birthday ... This Sunday will finally be the day I get to go off diet and eat (well not crazy off but something special)

Every few years my birthday lands on Father's Day and this in my year to share.  I guess I can lol just playing the older I get doesn't really matter.  I am really excited I have been so good on this diet for 10 months or so I haven't cheated (well once in February I had a sugar cookie when I was at a plateau and a friend suggested eating something to jumpstart my system.  Besides that I have stuck to it and as you can see have been doing pretty darn good!  I'm down 104.8lbs and 9lbs for my goal weight (well the one that I first set I may go an extra 10 after that but that is another thing).

With Sunday being Father's day the restaurants are going to be crazy.  I've been dying to try Cheesecake Factory since my friend Debby at Just Breath told me about a low carb cheesecake they have.  I've resisted but I made a promise to myself that on my birthday I would have cheesecake!  And a low carb version at least doesn't make me feel too guilty.  We do have to go early since Rick's work schedule changed, so maybe I'll do their breakfast with cheesecake ... LOL. I've been promising myself cheesecake for over a year now so I don't care what time of day it is I'm having it!

PLUS my women's group ladies are going to take me out to dinner on Saturday night!  I'm so excited to go out!

On my list to try:

Thai Lettuce Wraps (minus the sauces)

If I have to have breakfast I'll do the Steak & Eggs (minus potatoes)

And for desert - Low Carb Cheesecake (mine will be minus fruit)

And for my birthday Gift Rick bought me this.

I want a bigger one but that will come hopefully in a few years.

Let Them Eat Cake .... Kit Kat Cake with a Polka Dot Inside

We end this week of cakes with a cake I made for a friend of mine a few weeks back.  I've been seeing the Kit Kat Cake everywhere on Pinterest and thought what fun it would be to do.  Then I saw a cake with polka dots and I thought that would be a fun surprise when you cut into it!

First I started with and idea I saw on Snowy Bliss for a Polka Dot Cake.  She did one that was Halloween themed.  I wanted to do something fun I thought I'd do a pink and a black but my pink turned out red and hey it was still really cool!  Next on my list was the Kit Kat Cake, I found tons of them but not a bunch with great step by step.  I found a great blog with step by step and great pictures to follow along with on Recipe Girl.

For the Cake I made my now famous (in my own mind) Homemade Yellow Cake Mix.  I doubled the recipe so I could make the cake balls for the polka dots.  I took 1/4 of the mix and dyed it black with Black Wilton Icing color.  I then took another 1/4 of the mix and dyed it what I thought would be pink but turned red (Rose Wilton Icing Color).   I made the cake balls first using my cake ball pan, let them cool and then added to my yellow cake mix and baked again.

Cake Part - What you Need:

Baked Cake Balls

Homemade Yellow Cake Mix (or whatever you like)

Cut a few to half of the cake balls in half and leave the others whole.  Pour a small amount of batter into the bottom of a greased and floured pan.  Then push some of the half sized cake balls flat side down into the batter.  Add a little batter to a halved cake pop, onto the flat side, and then stick it to the side of the pan.  Continue this step until you have halved cake pops around the side of the pan.  Add more batter into pan.  Place a bunch of full sized cake balls into the batter.  Top off with more batter.  Bake the cakes, mine took a bit longer then normal (I added about 10 minutes longer). Cut off any extra poofy cake from the top to level it.  Stack the 2 cakes with frosting in the middle.  

(Not all my cake pops came out pretty, so mine wasn't as packed as her's but I think it turned out pretty)

Kit Kat Part - What you Need:

Three 4.5 oz Giant Kit Kat Bars (You'll need 36 Kit Kat sticks total)

12.6 oz M&M's (if you want to top with that I didn't)

Ribbon

Wilton Melts (I made Chocolate hearts to go on top)

Silicone Mold (if you want instead of M&M's)

Frosting

Baked Cake

Frost the cakes (adding frosting to the middle and frosting then the 2 tiers). Stick Kit Kat's to the sides of the cake, leaving a very small space in between each Kit Kat (1/4-inch). Wrap a bow around the cake, securing the Kit Kat's. Fill the top of the cake with M&M's (I skipped this part and made chocolate hearts). 

If you refrigerate the cake for a couple of hours or so, it will be much easier to cut and serve. Of course, you'll need to remove the bow just before serving.

Alexis Note:  I must admit I got in a rush and didn't do each individual kit kat and space but I think it still turned out great.

I took some red Wilton Melts and put in a silicone heart mold, I then placed those on top to pretty it up.

Birthday Gift Ideas ... Another version of Sweet 16 Survival Guide (New Driver Kit)

A while back I showed you my Sweet 16 - New Driver's Survival Kit.  Well my bosses daughter turned 16 and I wanted to make something for her.  It would need to be something I can ship.  I thought of my kit I made before and kind of scaled it different to fit in a USPS box.  She got the cutest red BMW for her birthday, so I just had to make her something to go in it!

What you Need:

Bin 

Hand Sanitizer

Box of Band Aids

Box of Pain Reliever

Bottle of Lotion

Pack of Tissues

Hair Bands

Crackers

Pens

Pad of Paper

Gum

Cough Drops (because my mom says you always should have them)

Pack of Wet Ones (they get anything out)

2 $5 Bills (pinned to the side for emergency) - Totally forgot to pin this in!

I took this great bin (actually found at the dollar store!).  Arranged the items inside and pinned the 2 $5 Bills to the side (which I forgot for this bin).  I then went to my Cricut machine to make a cute sign.  You could do this by hand but I think it added a little something using my machine then added the letters to spell out "Sweet 16 Survival Kit".  I even added a few little flowers!  It took me less than 10 minutes to put together but it turned out so cute and it was the perfect size to be put in our car for all those moments when you may just need it.

Birthday Gift Ideas ... "The Night In" Birthday Gift

I wanted to make something for my bosses birthday.  I saw a gift for the beach lover on Mrs. Jones blog.  Someone repined and added a note about switching it up to a blanket and hot chocolate for Christmas.  That gave me and idea!! Why not make something for a night in!  I know my bosses (they are a husband and wife, it was the wives birthday) like to stay in with their kids and have family nights together.  So I came up with the Night In Gift idea.

What I came up with:

Fluffy Blanket

Bag of Chocolate

Movie (I found a true story)

Book (Another true story)

The blanket I found at Target actually came with a ribbon band so I didn't have to buy ribbon.  I used the ribbon on there to be my "glue" that holds it together.  I took the cardboard out of the blanket and shoved the book, movie, tea and chocolate in there.  Tada it was done and I think it was a pretty cool gift!

This is a great gift for mom or anyone that you know that loves to snuggle up with a good book or movie.  Hope you give it to someone special.

Gift for the Science Enthusiast (Inexpensive & Fun)

As most of you know that I LOVE to do theme gifts and giving something that is unique and not just the usual item you buy and throw in a bag.  My best friend's son (my dinner guest every other week) had a birthday a few weekends ago.  She loves to do experiments with him.  So when I came across this science kit on I Can Teach My Child.  I had to make it.  It was so simple to make, I picked up most of the items at the Dollar Tree & Walmart.  This super cool kit cost around $20 and I swear was a HUGE hit worth so much more.

Combine all of the materials and print off a gift tag.  Wrap up the basket in some cellophane and add your tag!  I just printed and added a paper clip.  You could  laminate the pages back-to-back and bind them with a metal ring, if you want.

I skipped a few items due to time and well I couldn't find at the two stores I went to so they will have to just pick those up.  I loved this gift so much that I also made it for my bosses son.  He is a great little guy who loves experiments and I just knew this would be right up his isle.  I mailed it off and my boss let me know it was perfect for him.  SCORE!!!

Hunter's Survival Guide (Birthday Gift)

A while back I went to a friend son's birthday party.  He and his dad are big hunters.  I wanted to give him something he would really like and not just another toy.  Plus you know me and giving gift baskets, well why not do one a kid would like?  So I couldn't find one that was what I needed so I kind of ran with it and I must say it was pretty cool and a hit.

What you need:

Basket ($5 at Walmart - Brown seemed the perfect Color)

Scrapbook Paper (hunter Themed) for back ground

Scrapbook Paper (orange) for the letters - I used my Circuit to cut them out

Glow Sticks

Pringles

Camo Shirt

Camo Hat

Snacks (Trail Mix, Pepperoni Sticks, Crackers & Cookies)

I took the circuit to cut out the letters then glued them on to the scrapbook paper.  I cut the paper down to fit on the front of the basket I found at Walmart (added buy putting pins in to hold).  I added all the items I bought and tada done!
