End of Year Classmate Gift

Last is the school gifts made. I wish I could say we got back ONE of these reply cards but no such luck. I almost want to throw in the towel with making school gifts for the other kids. BUT I did get a glimmer of hope, the ONLY kid from school that showed up to Caden's party came up to me to tell me how much he loved the cookies etc I make and bring in. That brightened my day and let me know well I may only touch one life than it is worth it!

I also didn't find mini Hersey bars  for the s'more packs so I of course went for the next best thing butter fingers ... ok recess's cup's would have been best but the store was out of those too. And since I was hoping on a plane to Boston I could not run around to find the right items ... lol

End of Year Gifts for Class ... Silly Summer & Bubble Summer

Sadly we come to an end of this school year. My oldest is going on to Middle school and we say goodbye to the best teacher we have ever had. He was lucky enough to do 4th and 5th with the same teacher. The classmates were the same so I wanted to give them something a little special also.

For Cole's class I did Silly string gift, which I didn't really think much about until I came to pick the kids up to find the kids silly stringed their teacher and got in trouble with the principal .. lol ugh so wasn't on my thought process. I found this idea on Room Mom Extraordinaire (she put her's in plastic bags to hope the kids didn't spray on the bus ... I may have should have done that!).

What you Need:

Silly String (Dollar Tree $1)

Curling Ribbon (Dollar Tree $1)

Card Stock

I went on google search found a rainbow boarder (png so I could easily copy) put into a word doc and then put typed up a word box saying "Have a "Silly" Summer. From Cole. I printed on heavy card stock an then cut out, punched a whole and tied on with curling ribbon.

For Caden's class I did bubbles, which also got used by the whole class but this didn't make a mess and the teacher took them outside for it and no harm no foul .. lol.

What you Need:

Bubble Wands (Michael's $1 buy one get one 1/2 off)

Curling Ribbon (Dollar Tree $1)

Card Stock.

Easter Peep S'Mores ... Easy Classroom Treat

Easter is just around the corner and I had big plans to get the treats for the class done in advance. I also had an idea to do one for Caden's class and one for Cole's class. WELL time has gotten the best of me and I'm done to the wire and having only one project to do!

I kept seeing Peep S'More's all over pinterest, so forgive me if I don't link the right person but I'll post the one that came up the most. Peep S'mores found on Confetti by Lexi. Since I needed to make like 45+ of these I needed a print out that had a lot on one page. I searched and searched but couldn't find the exact one. WELL I found some on Etsy but I didn't want to pay for a class gift on top of what I've bough already. My husband is already all over me for making treats for every holiday. So I found a great free printable on Craftibilities for Peep S'More's I copied her one square pasted into a word doc and made it the right size to have 6 per page. I added a text box and typed the boys name and put on top of the printable next to the From:. 

What You Need:

Peep's (12 Per Pack $1 Dollar Tree)

Graham Crackers

Hersey Bars (I used Crunch Bar's)

Plastic Bags (25 pk $1 Dollar Tree)

Ribbon ($1 Michael's)

White Card Stock Paper

Whole Punch

Scissors

Ink Jet Printer

Add one Peep to your plastic bag, add 2 graham cracker squares to the middle of the botto of your bag and then add a chocolate bar.  (I couldn't find Hersey bars, after 2 stores I resorted to Crunch Bars). Cut your tag out and add a whole with your whole punch. Tie up bag with a ribbon and add your tag to the bag. BAM your done!

Super Hero Valentines

For Caden being in 2nd Grade I could still do something fun for him and not have to be more grown up like Cole's. I found these fun Super Hero Valentines on The Dairy of Dave's Wife.  Now she is awesome sewed them and all, I'm usually running around like my head is cut off so I went with the glue method.  Her's also looked a lot cleaner but when you have to make 30 of them your's tend not to be as clean .. lol.

What You Need:

Felt (I bought a package at Dollar Tree)

Craft Glue or Sewing Machine

Elastic Band

Card Stock

Print out the free template she has for the mask. I printed and then took a sharpie to outline on the felt. The felt I bought at the Dollar Tree was thinner then the kind I've bought before at the craft store. But I also knew that most of the kids would not keep them so I didn't want to spend a ton of money. If I was doing a super hero party I would use the thick felt. 

Once I had the out line on the felt I cut out the felt mask. The Dollar Tree sheet allowed me to fold over and make 2 shapes per sheet which would make one mask. I glued the felt together with craft glue. I added the strap by tying it on to two holes I made using my hole punch. She sewed her's into the side of the mask.  She also made a free printable that could hang on to the mask as the valentine card!  

The cutting is the longest part of this job!

Santa Cookies (Nutter Butter)

Wow it's almost Christmas so it's time for Classroom treats!! Here are the cute Santa's I made for Caden's class.  I found these super cute Santa's on Phaedra's Adventures.  These are actually pretty easy to make, takes a little big of time but so cute!  Here is a step by step tutorial.

What you Need:

Nutter Butters

Wilton Red Melts

Wilton White Melts

Shredded Coconut

Mini Chocolate Chips

Red Hots

Parchment Paper

Piping Bag

I melt my chocolate melts in the microwave for 1 min 30 seconds.  BE CAREFUL not to burn! I melt my melts in my pampered chef glass bowls they are amazing for this.  Take a Nutter Butter and dip in Red for the top of the hat. Place on parchment paper to harden.  I use a plastic piping bag melt the white melts in the microwave.  I added the fir on the red hat and a dot for the end of the hat.  Let this harden, then to the bottom of the cookie.  I melted the white melts in my other pampered chef glass bowl and dipped the bottom of the cookie in the white for the beard.  BEFORE it dries add some coconut for the fuz of a beard.  I then pipped a little white to hold the eyes and the nose.  For the eyes you use mini chocolate chips and a red hot for a nose.  I picked up some plastic bags from the dollar tree for Caden to share with each classmate.

Easter Gift ... Thank You for being an "Egg-Cellent" Teacher Gift

With Easter just around the corner I'm getting a "hop" (LOL I couldn't resist) on getting our gifts done early.  I have 2 teacher gifts to do, 2 classroom gifts to do and 2 items to make for an Awesome 1,000 Egg Hunt this weekend.  I start with a super simple easy gift for Caden's teacher.  I found this awesome idea with a FREE printable (in so many shapes and sizes) on Lil Luna's website.

What you Need:

Egg Carton (used or from a craft store)

Egg Shaped Candy

Card Stock

Printer

Hot Glue Gun

ALEXIS NOTE: I used a candy that was egg shaped that came in an egg carton, 2 birds with 1 stone!  I found these chocolate covered marshmallow's in the egg carton at Walmart for $1.  I had the card stock and used my printer to print the label and my handy dandy hot glue gun to glue it down.  It cost me only $1 to make!

Luck Of the Irish ... Shamrock Flower Gifts

Now on to the gifts for the class rooms.  I wanted to make something fun for the kids to take to their classmates, but again not spend a fortune doing so!  I found two really cool ideas, yes I'm a nut and have to do a different kind for each kid's classroom.  Yes I admitted I'm a nut! First was a Lollipop Shamrock found on With Glittering Eyes.   The Second one I did was inspired by a Pot of Gold on Craft Journal. 

Lollipop Shamrocks

What you Need:

Lollipops (Blow Pop Bag - Dollar Tree)

Green Card Stock

Hot Glue Gun

Hole Punch

Basket (if you want for transportation)

Foam used for fake flowers (holds lollipop in place)

She used a cut out for her shamrocks.  I did a Google search and found a template on Enchanted Learning that I then printed on to green card stock paper.  I got to cutting out the shamrocks (this is the time consuming part, NEXT time I will use the foam Shamrocks found in a pack of 12 at Dollar Tree - Used for the Second Project).  I used a hole punch to put the lollipop stick through the shamrock.  This made the hole a little larger than I wanted so I added a dab of hot glue to hold the paper to the lollipop.  I found a green basket and cut down some foam to hold up the lollipop shamrocks.

Foam Shamrocks (pack of 12 Dollar Tree)

Gold Candy (Rolo's work but I'm cheap and found gold candy)

Green Straw

Hot Glue Gun

Basket (if you want for transportation)

I must admit the Rolo's would look cuter but I had to buy what was there at the Dollar Tree so I didn't have to run to another store to buy Rolo's.  I put a dab of hot glue to hold the Gold Candy in the middle of the Foam Shamrock.  I added a little hot glue to a straw to add to the back of the foam shamrock to look like a flower.  I did the same as above with the green basket and foam to hold up the Shamrock flowers.

2 pretty easy items to make for the kids.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

The boys school is celebrating Dr. Seuss this week.  Caden's class has had a few mom's make things, so guess what was asked of this momma.  Yup so I went on the hunt for quick and easy projects to make.  I of course would have to make 2 things one for Caden and then one for Cole's class.

I hit up Pinterest and Google Images and found two things to make.

What you Need:

Pretzel Sticks

White Chocolate Melts (you can buy at Craft store or Winco in Bulk Section)

Green M&M's

Extras:

Red Fish

Gold Fish

Bags (Dollar Tree 40pk)

White Card Stock

Line a pan with parchment paper, put two pretzel sticks and place a white chocolate melt in the middle of the pretzels.  Put in oven at 350 for 2 minutes, don't let it go too long or you'll burn chocolate (I've done it not pretty). Once out of the oven place a green m&m in the middle of white chocolate.  Let sit to hard up before removing from pan.

I wanted to make treat bags so I took two of the green eggs and ham added some red fish and gold fish to a small plastic treat bag.  I printed a label I found on My Paper Lily, she has a blank label that you can use.  I took this blank label uploaded to PicMonkey and Added the words (Green Eggs & Ham One Fish, Two Fish).  I printed on card stock and attached to the bag with a staple.  Yes I know it's one fish, two fish ... but the bags looked so empty so I just added a few more .. lol.

Next on the list is Cat in the Hat

What you Need:

Red Rings (Gummy Life Savers or Peach Rings)

White Frosting

Oreo Cookies

Extras:

Frosted Cupcakes

Clear Cup

Clear Bags (Large - Dollar Tree 25pk)

Ribbon

White Card Stock

Take the top off a oreo cookie (one of the black cookies), put aside.  Take a Gummy add a ring of white frosting (do this to 3 gummies).  NOW you can use the Peach Rings as is, or you can peel off the pink (this takes a lot of time and is sticky).  You can buy Gummy Life Savers but I needed 21 hats which would mean I would need 63 red gummies, I figured the odds of me getting that many Gummy life Savers was not the best so I went with the peach rings.  Once you have the 3 rings frosted, stack them on top of each other, then place the stack in the middle of your oreo (white side up).  This will look like the Cat in the Hat (black on bottom and red and white strips on top).

I wanted to do something fun with my hats so I made my white cake cupcakes and frosted with my sturdy buttercream frosting.  I topped each cupcake with a Cat in the Hat Topper.  Then my favorite pinterest tip ever found was the cupcake in a clear plastic cup, wrapped in a clear plastic bag and tied with a ribbon.  I added a fun Dr. Seuss Cut out I found on Scrap N Teach.  I used my circle cutter to cut them out, added a hole punched and tied on with the ribbon.  

This was a fun project!  I hope you give one a try!

Tis the Season ... Reindeer Hot Cocoa & Snowman Soup

Can you believe it's almost Christmas?  The boys last day before the break is Friday so I am trying to get a jump on the gifts for his classmates.  I found 2 really simple gifts to make.

I found These super cute Reindeer Hot Cocoa idea on pinterest, but the ones I clicked linked to a picture not a post so I'm sorry for not giving credit to who created this idea.

Need:

Plastic Cone Bags (Found 100 on Amazon for $13)

Hot Cocoa Mix (bought mine in bulk section at Winco)

Mini Marshmallows

Brown Pipe Cleaners (Cut mine in half)

Googly Eyes

Red Pom Pom

Glue

Fill your cone bag with hot cocoa (I found about 1 cup was the right amount) top with a handful of mini marshmallows.  Tie the top of the bag (I used tap to secure it shut).  Cut the pipe cleaner in half twist around the top of bag, use your fingers to form the antlers.  Glue on the googly eyes and the red pom pom for the nose.  Let it sit so the glue is dry before handing out.

Last on my list was Snowman Soup, there are several post out there but I went with the one I found on Funky Polkadot Giraffe that had a really cute free printable you could use, she also linked to a printable that was super cute that had an old fashion Christmas feel but I was running low on ink and didn't want to print 25 of them.

Need:

1 packet of cocoa
mini-marshmallows
mini candy canes
Hersey Kisses

Printable Label

Clear Bag

Add all to the clear bag, staple the label to close the bag up.

ALEXIS NOTES: I found Cocoa that had the marshmallows already in it so I skipped putting it in the bag.  I copied her printable she made and pasted into a word doc where I shrunk it down so I could print 8 per page, I'm all about the saving of money.  I used white card stock paper.

End of School Year Ideas .... Krazy KOOL Summer Gifts

One more fun gift that was super easy and cheap to make!  I made these for Cole's Classroom (he has 3rd / 4th & 5th Grade together).  I saw on pinterest a fun idea with Kool Aid in a fun cup (found on B.Jane Brewing for "Kool Summer") and then I saw some with Pop Rocks, I thought why not merge them together.  It came together great, except I couldn't find a printable that I like that had Popping and Kool in it.  So I went with a fun FREE Printable I found on A cupcake for the Teacher for Krazy KOOL Summer.

I hit up the Dollar Store and Winco and put together this project for less then $2 a piece!

Items Needed:

Kool Aid (I picked up 5 different Flavors) .10 cents each

Pop Rocks (3 pk for $1)

Water Bottle ($1)

Instructions:

Now hold on it's hard one ... lol.  Open the Water bottle cap, add in the kool aid packets and then top with one pop rock package.  Close the water bottle cap.  Print the FREE printable on cardstock cut with scissors or you could use a punch.  I took a hole punch to cut a hole then tied a ribbon to the water bottle.  YUP it was that easy!

Another inexpensive gift that I hope the kids will truly enjoy!

Easter Wrapped ... We End with Bunny Tails

We end our Easter Treats with some Bunny Tails for Caden's classmates.  Ok I couldn't just send chalk for the kids, a little sweet treat was needed also.  So it's only a marshmallow in a bag but it's still a cute treat to give.

Super simple to make but so adorable!  I found this simple Bunny Tails treat on Eighteen 25 Blog.  And you know my love of people who include FREE printables, well you have two to choose from!

what you'll need:

• marshmallows
• snack size ziplock bags
• bunny tails toppers download topper 01 or download topper 02
• white cardstock
• stapler

step one: print out toppers and trim off edges

step two: cut white cardstock to 6 3/4" x 4 1/2", score (or fold) in half

step three: place marshmallows in bags and zip closed

step four: staple cardstock to bag.

Alexis Notes: I think she used the EXTRA Large Marshmallows.  I was cheap and went with the large marshmallows, they were on sale at Target for $.99 verses $3.49 for the Extra Large.  What can I say I'm cheap :).  I put 4 marshmallows instead of two like her picture.  She also taped but I skipped that part since they are Kindergartners didn't want to make it too hard for them to open.

Easter Egg Sidewalk Chalk

For Caden's kindergarten class I wanted to make something fun but not something with sugar since I knew they would be having a lot of candy from the other kids.  I found a cute gift tag to add, since they go to a faith based school I found one that had a bible verse.  You can always add a regular Easter tag if you would like.

I went to my sidewalk chalk recipe I used for the auction gifts I made.  I then pulled out my Jell-O Egg molds (you can pick these up FREE every year if you buy a box of Jell-O), I saw on Pinterest people using plastic Easter eggs also if you don't have this mold.  I didn't want to do just one color so I did 3 colors.  NOW don't overfill your eggs like I did, this will MAKE it so hard to open them you will almost think you need to throw away the whole batch (almost did that).  Taking them out of the mold will be hard if overfilled and will cause a heck of a mess next time I will do over a paper bag of newspaper.  I got a lecture from Rick about our counter-tops when he saw the mess ... lol.

What you will need:
•    Egg Mold (I used Jell-O Mold you can use Plastic Egg)
•    Vaseline (to grease the egg)
•    Small bucket or disposable container to make the recipe
•    ¾ cup of warm water
•    1 ½ cups Plaster of Paris
•    2-3 tablespoons of tempera paint
•    Paper bag or a “mess mat”

Step 1: Take Vaseline and grease the inside of the eggs.

Step 2: Pour the warm water into your bucket. Sprinkle the Plaster of Paris over the water and stir the mixture with a plastic spoon. The Plaster of Paris roughly starts hardening within 20-30 minutes, so you need to work fast so that it does not harden too quickly.

Step 3: Next you will want to pour the tempera paint into the Plaster of Paris mixture and stir so that it is mixed thoroughly. If you would like brighter colors  add more tempera paint into the mixture. 

Step 4: I added my first color to one half of the egg, filling about 1/3 of the way.

Step 5: I let it set up for about a half hour then repeated with the next color (following step 2-3)

Step 6: I filled the top and the bottom of the egg with two colors then filled the 3rd color on top of each color in each egg.  I then let it set up for about 10 minutes and let closed the top and the bottom of the egg so it will become one egg! (See Picture)

Step 7: I let it set up over night and then went to open.  I over filled mine so when I went to open it was almost glued shut.  I took a knife to get the dried plaster off and pry the egg open.  I made extra thankfully so the few that broke didn't have to be used.  

Step 8: I added 2 eggs to a snack size zip-lock and added a fun Easter Note.  You can use anyone you like we go to a Faith based school so mine had a bible verse on it.

We had a few break and I made a mess :) but overall it was so fun!
