James Brown was raised in a middle class home, received a scholoraship to Harvard, went on to become a professional athlete then to a become a broadcaster for major shows like NFL Pre-Game Show.

His message that shortcuts and gimmicks are counterproductive to a person's success provides hope that there is a God who cares about them and their futures.
